Download or read book Epichlorohydrin from Glycerol and Sodium Chloride Cost Analysis ECH E51A written by Intratec and published by Intratec. This book was released on 2019-09-17 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents a cost analysis of Epichlorohydrin production from crude glycerol and sodium chloride. The process under analysis involves the following steps: an aqueous solution of sodium chloride (brine) is decomposed electrolytically in a membrane cell, producing chlorine, caustic soda and hydrogen; hydrogen and chlorine react forming hydrogen chloride (HCl); hydrochlorination of glycerol to dichlorohydrins (DCH); and alkaline dehydrochlorination of DCH to Epichlorohydrin. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): Keywords: chlor-alkali, hydrochlorination, dichlorohydrins, DCH, dichloropropanol, DCP, alkaline dehydrochlorination, CONSER, Dow, Solvay, KVT
