Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fed. law requires certain facilities that manufacture, process, or use any of 581 toxic chemicals to report annually to EPA and their state on the amount of those chemicals released into the air, water, or soil. It also requires EPA to make this info. publicly available. Facilities must either: submit a detailed TRI Form R for each designated chemical used in excess of certain thresholds; or file a simpler Form A certifying that they need not do so. To reduce co. burden, EPA issued a Dec. 2006 rule to expand Form A eligibility for certain facilities and chemicals. This report analyzed: (1) how EPA and others use TRI data; (2) whether EPA followed internal guidelines in developing its rule; and (3) the rule¿s impact on info. avail. to the public. Charts and tables.

Book Toxics Release Inventory Reporting for Facilities Located in Indian Country Clarification of Additional Opportunities Etc Us Environmental Protection Agency Regulation Epa 2018 Edition

Download or read book Toxics Release Inventory Reporting for Facilities Located in Indian Country Clarification of Additional Opportunities Etc Us Environmental Protection Agency Regulation Epa 2018 Edition written by Law Library and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-09-05 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Toxics Release Inventory Reporting for Facilities Located in Indian Country - Clarification of Additional Opportunities, etc. (US Environmental Protection Agency Regulation) (EPA) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the Toxics Release Inventory Reporting for Facilities Located in Indian Country - Clarification of Additional Opportunities, etc. (US Environmental Protection Agency Regulation) (EPA) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 EPA is announcing new opportunities for tribal participation and engagement in the TRI Program. Under this final rule, TRI reporting facilities located in Indian country are required to report to the appropriate tribal government of their relevant area instead of the State. This rule also improves and clarifies certain opportunities allowing tribal governments to participate more fully in the TRI Program. Further, because tribal governmental structures may vary, EPA is updating its terminology to refer to the principal elected official of the Tribe as the "Tribal Chairperson or equivalent elected official." EPA is also amending its definition of "State" for purposes of 40 CFR part 372 to no longer include Indian country, so as to avoid any confusing overlap in terminology for facilities located in Indian country. With regard to the procedures for EPA to modify the list of covered chemicals and TRI reporting facilities, today's rule clarifies the opportunities available to tribal governments. In particular, EPA is including within the relevant provision an opportunity for the Tribal Chairperson or equivalent elected official to request that EPA apply the TRI reporting requirements to a specific facility located within the Tribe's Indian country. Secondly, EPA is clarifying in this rule that the Tribal Chairperson or equivalent elected official may petition EPA to add or delete a particular chemical respectively to or from the list of chemicals covered by TRI. In finalizing the actions described, EPA is helping to increase awareness of toxic releases within tribal communities, thereby increasing the understanding of potential human health and ecological impacts from these hazardous chemicals. This book contains: - The complete text of the Toxics Release Inventory Reporting for Facilities Located in Indian Country - Clarification of Additional Opportunities, etc. (US Environmental Protection Agency Regulation) (EPA) (2018 Edition) - A table of contents with the page number of each section

Book Understanding Environmental Pollution

Download or read book Understanding Environmental Pollution written by Marquita K. Hill and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2004-08-26 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding Environmental Pollution systematically introduces pollution issues to students and others with little scientific background. The first edition received excellent reviews, and the new edition has been completely refined and updated. The book moves from the definition of pollution and how pollutants behave, to air and water pollution basics, pollution and global change, solid waste, and pollution in the home. It also discusses persistent and bioaccumulative chemicals, and pesticides, and it places greater stress on global pollutants. The relationship between energy generation and use, and pollution is stressed, as well as the importance of going beyond pollution control, to pollution prevention. Impacts on human and environmental health are emphasized throughout. Students are often invited to come to their own conclusions after having been presented with a variety of opinions. This textbook provides the basic concepts of pollution, toxicology and risk assessment for non-science majors as well as environmental science students.

Book Handbook of Industrial Chemistry and Biotechnology

Download or read book Handbook of Industrial Chemistry and Biotechnology written by James A. Kent and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-01-13 with total page 1560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Substantially revising and updating the classic reference in the field, this handbook offers a valuable overview and myriad details on current chemical processes, products, and practices. No other source offers as much data on the chemistry, engineering, economics, and infrastructure of the industry. The Handbook serves a spectrum of individuals, from those who are directly involved in the chemical industry to others in related industries and activities. It provides not only the underlying science and technology for important industry sectors, but also broad coverage of critical supporting topics. Industrial processes and products can be much enhanced through observing the tenets and applying the methodologies found in chapters on Green Engineering and Chemistry (specifically, biomass conversion), Practical Catalysis, and Environmental Measurements; as well as expanded treatment of Safety, chemistry plant security, and Emergency Preparedness. Understanding these factors allows them to be part of the total process and helps achieve optimum results in, for example, process development, review, and modification. Important topics in the energy field, namely nuclear, coal, natural gas, and petroleum, are covered in individual chapters. Other new chapters include energy conversion, energy storage, emerging nanoscience and technology. Updated sections include more material on biomass conversion, as well as three chapters covering biotechnology topics, namely, Industrial Biotechnology, Industrial Enzymes, and Industrial Production of Therapeutic Proteins.

Book Designing Safer Chemicals

Book excerpt: Covers the design or redesign of chemicals with the specific intent of making them safe for people and the environment. Explains how commercially useful substances of low toxicity can be designed and developed through careful forethought and strategic molecular modification. Describes how existing industrial chemicals that are toxic can be redesigned to be less toxic but retain their usefulness. Discusses how to merge the disciplines of toxicology and chemistry to design new, less toxic commercial chemicals or redesign existing toxic commercial chemicals to result in less toxic substitutes. Provides researchers, developers, and manufacturers of industrial chemicals with a reference source for designing safer chemicals.
