Book Handbook of Catchment Management

Download or read book Handbook of Catchment Management written by Robert C. Ferrier and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-09-11 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the fundamental requirement for aninterdisciplinary catchment based approach to managing andprotecting water resources that crucially includes anunderstanding of land use and its management. In thisapproach the hydrological cycle links mountains to the sea, andecosystems in rivers, groundwaters, lakes, wetlands, estuaries andcoasts forming an essential continuum directly influenced by humanactivity. The book provides a synthesis of current and future thinking incatchment management, and shows how the specific problems thatarise in water use policy can be addressed within the context of anintegrated approach to management. The book is written for advancedstudents, researchers, fellow academics and water sectorprofessionals such as planners and regulators. The intention is tohighlight examples and case studies that have resonance not onlywithin natural sciences and engineering but with academicsin other fields such as socio-economics, law and policy.

Book Mackenzie Gas Project

Download or read book Mackenzie Gas Project written by Imperial Oil Resources Ventures Ltd and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "1. Introduction. 1.1 Background: The Mackenzie Gas Project (MGP) has used reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) analysis to quantify performance of the project. A revised Gate 3 design basis for the project has been developed and a screening assessment is currently being carried out on this design. This technical note presents the availability impact of the screening assessment design changes. A comprehensive assessment was conducted on an earlier preliminary design basis [Mackenzie Gas Project FEED RAM analysis report AO-REP-04H-068-002 Rev 0, 3rd]. 1.2 Scope: The scope of the study comprises all equipment critical to gas delivery from the MGP including ... the gathering system including gathering pipelines, the Storm Hills pigging facility, the Inuvik Area Facility (IAF) and the natural gas liquids (NGL) pipeline; gas transmission system including the pipeline, compression stations and the heater station. The analysis is based on four system models (one for each season), for the authorized overrun service (AOS) production rate. Sensitivity cases have then been run against these base case models. 1.3 Objectives: The main objectives of the screening assessment RAM analysis are to: quantify the availability of the revised system design based on the major changes to the design; and determine the sensitivity of the system to key aspects including: changes in chain component availabilities, +1% to the: gathering system, gas transmission system, IAF, compressor stations, and heater station; changes in availability of select equipment, +1% for: gas turbine drivers and gas compressor packages; changes in availability of select systems: fuel gas system component sparing"--ASTIS [online] database.
