Book Managing Energy From the Top Down

Download or read book Managing Energy From the Top Down written by Christopher Russell and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-01-18 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written in accessible, understandable prose, this book explains the connection between energy and business performance. It delineates how day-to-day choices relate to the risks and rewards of energy use. Concise, to-the-point chapters explain how energy is invested, preserved, and ultimately positioned to create wealth. Hard-nosed business leaders should appreciate the section with examples that show a strong financial case for energy improvements, including the save-or-buy criterion, the economic penalty for "doing nothing," the break-even cost, and the budget for supporting design and analysis work.

Book Power Economics

Download or read book Power Economics written by Elena Cahill and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-02-04 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Energy efficiency is more of a journey than a battle. It starts with small steps, taken at the local and state levels. It is a matter of identifying and then practicing good habits in our daily lives, at home and at work. Every idea and process described in this book, if performed reasonably well, will put money in your pocket. You will not only save money; you will probably make money—and you will take important steps toward saving the planet. Power Economics is a book for thoughtful people who want to cut their energy costs and diminish the harmful effects of greenhouse gas emissions. Climate change and global warming are not speculative fantasies. They are real. They threaten communities, towns, cities, regions, nations, and continents. Even if you don't care about polar bears and penguins, the effects of melting icecaps and shifting ocean currents will transform your life and the lives of the people around you. Power Economics offers practical steps and achievable strategies for reducing the destructive impact of climate change and global warming. Yes, we need energy to live and to sustain our economies. But we don’t need to burn fossil fuels and release CO2 gas at levels that will result in a global catastrophe. There are reasonable alternatives to our current practices. None of the ideas that described in this book are entirely new or totally unfamiliar. They aren't extreme or bizarre. They won't require harsh or draconian measures to work. All of them follow basic rules of common sense and can be achieved at reasonable cost. "I have done my best to convey the complexity and urgency of the matter. I hope that you find this book informative and useful. Working together, we can shed many of our wasteful energy habits and begin the task of building a world that is safe, sustainable and healthy," writes author and energy expert Elena Cahill.

Book Energy Management and Energy Efficiency in Industry

Download or read book Energy Management and Energy Efficiency in Industry written by Durmuş Kaya and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-06-21 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is presented to demonstrate how energy efficiency can be achieved in existing systems or in the design of a new system, as well as a guide for energy savings opportunities. Accordingly, the content of the book has been enriched with many examples applied in the industry. Thus, it is aimed to provide energy savings by successfully managing the energy in the readers’ own businesses. The authors primarily present the necessary measurement techniques and measurement tools to be used for energy saving, as well as how to evaluate the methods that can be used for improvements in systems. The book also provides information on how to calculate the investments to be made for these necessary improvements and the payback periods. The book covers topics such as: • Reducing unit production costs by ensuring the reduction of energy costs, • Efficient and quality energy use, • Meeting market needs while maintaining competitive conditions, • Ensuring the protection of the environment by reducing CO2 and CO emissions with energy saving and energy efficiency, • Ensuring the correct usage of systems by carrying out energy audits. In summary, this book explains how to effectively design energy systems and manage energy to increase energy savings. In addition, the study has been strengthened by giving some case studies and their results in the fields of intensive energy consumption in industry. This book is an ideal resource for practitioners, engineers, researchers, academics, employees and investors in the fields of energy, energy management, energy efficiency and energy saving.

Book Potential for Industrial Energy Efficiency Improvement in the Long Term

Download or read book Potential for Industrial Energy Efficiency Improvement in the Long Term written by J. de Beer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book does not give a prediction of what the efficiency will be of the energy use of industrial processes in the future. However, it does give an exploration of limits to the efficiency of current processes and an indication of what might be achieved if new technologies can be developed. At the Department of Science, Technology and Society of Utrecht University research had been done to the opportunities for improvement of the energy efficiency in the short term since the 1980's. This had resulted in a comprehensive database on energy efficient measures. This database and a possible application are described in Chapter 3 of this book. The use of the database induced new research themes around efficiency improvement, e.g. concerning barriers for implementation of measures. It was around 1993 that I did a preliminary study to the potential for efficiency improvement in the long term. Historical analysis had shown us that the short term potential stayed constant over the years. It seemed to be replenished by the introduction of new technologies. This lead to the question whether there are limits to the efficiency, taking into account both thermodynamic considerations and ideas on the development and dissemination of new technologies.
