Book excerpt: A compelling tale of two former Cold Warriors, their lives and their loves, as they face off on the American-Soviet conflict's new front: industrial espionage. The Soviet Union's Council of Ministers is well aware that for all their military clout, their economy is that of a Third World nation. They recruit Colonel Nikolai Kalinin -- weary, disillusioned, but a still loyal KGB operative -- to infiltrate a multinational research corporation based in Berlin and steal the blueprint of a revolutionary new computer chip. Given the assignment of preventing the chip from falling into the wrong hands is Russ Tobin, a former Berlin Station Chief and now a senior CIA intelligence analyst, whose lethal rivalry with Kalinin goes far beyond the now-defunct ideology that once divided their nations... So begins Endgame in Berlin, not only a complex, fast-paced thriller, but also, due to the thorough research for which all William Harrington's novels are noted, an intriguing and convincing portrait of agents on both sides of the dismantled Berlin Wall as they struggle to find their niches in today's "new world order." Praise for William Harrington: "An exciting novel that nicely mixes software theory with fast-paced action." -- The Wall Street Journal "Sharply drawn and realistic." -- Kirkus Reviews "Harrington sets a dandy scene and his narrative is well-paced." -- Dayton Daily News WILLIAM HARRINGTON is a computer consultant, licensed pilot, attorney and the author of fifteen previous novels, including Virus, Oberst, For the Defense and The English Lady. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the volatility and unpredictability North Korea has come to symbolize in international diplomacy and security issues, it represents only half of the potential danger on the Korean peninsula. In a notable departure from its past role as guarantor of stability on the Korean peninsula, the United States has, under the stewardship of the Bush administration, come to be regarded as, at best, an obstacle to peace and security, and at worst a potential trigger for hostility. The most immediate result of this shift on the Korean peninsula has been the US failure to undertake an effective policy formulation process, which has manifested itself (on both sides of the 38th parallel) in more reactive and convulsive responses to challenges from the North Korean regime. Without such understanding there is little hope of advancing discussions or resolving North Korea's nuclear program. Fundamental to understanding North Korea's endgame is realizing that its nuclear weapons program, while menacing, is unlikely to be used offensively without major provocation; it functions as a tool of its diplomacy—missile diplomacy—to ensure survival of the regime. Working closely with South Korea, the United States must ensure that any potential resolution reached on North Korea's nuclear program does not undermine its longer-term objectives for securing broader peace and security on the Korean peninsula. Ideally, any resolution brokered over the North's nuclear weapons program will provide a synergistic effect in addressing the conventional war threat posed by North Korea on the Korean peninsula. In short, the United States must undertake constructive engagement. Steadfast unwillingness to engage with North Korea only provides more fodder for the regime to stall any action, and, as part of its endgame, makes U.S. behavior the issue. the issue, which is part of its endgame.

Book excerpt: Exploding onto the eschatalogical scene with a deafening roar, Endgame shatters the status quo with respect to endtime Bible prophecy, detonating centuries' worth of assumption and subjective "fact." By providing the Bible space to interpret itself, the key which unlocks the mysteries of Revelation is revealed to have been within the possession of mankind all along, hidden for millennia in "plain sight." Although Man has long preferred to lean upon his own understanding, the logic of mortals is not equal to the task of assembling the pieces of a Divinely-constructed image, a fact which accounts for the numerous conflicting views and failed predictions of establishment experts. The true account has been set down in God's own hand, scattered throughout His Word which the prophets were inspired to utter, and which holy men of old were moved to record. Includes a bonus Tribulation Survival Guide
