(John 3.16) The writer of the New Testament book to the Hebrews confirms this promise: "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." (Hebrews 13.5) Unbelievers (those who have not trusted in God's provision through Jesus Christ) have no promise of God's presence through any difficulty - they are on their own and left to their own devices. Believers suffer similar experiences while in the flesh because we are in the world - albeit, not of the world.
