Of the 73 million women in the US workforce, 11.5 million are foreign-born. Download or read book Uncertainty written by Jonathan Fields and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2012-11-06 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jonathan Fields knows the risks-and potential power-of uncertainty. He gave up a six-figure income as a lawyer to make $12 an hour as a personal trainer. Then, married with a 3-month old baby, he signed a lease to launch a yoga center in the heart of New York City. . . the day before 9/11. But he survived, and along the way he developed a fresh approach to transforming uncertainty, risk of loss, and exposure to judgment into catalysts for innovation, creation, and achievement. In business, art, and life, creating on a world-class level demands bold action and leaps of faith in the face of great uncertainty. But that uncertainty can lead to fear, anxiety, paralysis, and destruction. It can gut creativity and stifle innovation. It can keep you from taking the risks necessary to do great work and craft a deeply-rewarding life. And it can bring companies that rely on innovation grinding to a halt. That is, unless you know how to use it to your advantage. Fields draws on leading-edge technology, cognitive science, and ancient awareness-focusing techniques in a fresh, practical, nondogmatic way. His approach enables creativity and productivity on an entirely different level and can turn the once-tortuous journey into a more enjoyable quest.

The planet and the population exist in The Age Of Serenity, where health, beauty, and accomplishment have no limitation. The entire planet and the Ureezko are cursed by the queen of the sub-galactic realm, Izar Neskamea. Genetic mutation sets in, causing the planet and its population to mutate. Because of this mutation and the consequential violations of divine law, the supreme Lord Of The Universe, Janiko Gorino, smashes planet Onfein into two halves, creating planet Elbear. More mutated elements of Ureezko are placed onto this planet Elbear. The planets are condemned to being rivals for all future time. The story is futuristic science fiction. While there may appear to be a creationist starting element to this tale, the broad beginning intent was to explain the story's origin, and the conflict. Philosophy is combined with raw action, then reflected on to the ground creatively, in a manner recognizable to the reader as being an angle of perspective he would love to reach out and seize hold of.

Book excerpt: Slow down, own who you really are and unleash your inner brilliance. You already have everything you need to become truly brilliant — to lead a successful, fulfilling life — even though it doesn’t always feel like it. When everything external to us is moving so quickly, we feel out of control and exhausted; we worry about what we don’t have or what we need more of; we seek solutions to band-aid our perceived imperfections and doubts. Crowded calendars and unending demands at home and work give us little time to look internally — though it is within each of us where the answers can be found. At a time when we suffer from unprecedented stress, comparison-itis and self-doubt, author Janine Garner asks us to slow down and turn our focus inward. She challenges you to take ownership of who you are and who you want to become, to rise above limitations, and unleash your brilliance within.

Download or read book Interconnected written by O-rgyan-ʼphrin-las-rdo-rje (Karma-pa XVII) and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2017-02-28 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plucked from a humble nomad family to become the leader of one of Tibet’s oldest Buddhist lineages, the young Seventeenth Karmapa draws on timeless values to create an urgent ethic for today’s global community. We have always been, and will always be, interconnected—through family, community, and shared humanity. As our planet changes and our world grows smaller, it is vital we not only recognize our connections to one another and to the earth but also begin actively working together as interdependent individuals to create a truly global society. The Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, is uniquely positioned to guide us in this process. Drawing on years of intensive Buddhist training and a passionate commitment to social issues, he teaches how we can move from a merely intellectual understanding to a fully lived experience of connection. By first seeing, then feeling, and finally living these connections, we can become more effective agents of social and ethical change. The Karmapa shows us how gaining emotional awareness of our connectedness can fundamentally reshape the human race. He then guides us to action, showing step by step how we can change the way we use the earth’s resources and can continue to better our society. In clear language, the Karmapa draws connections between such seemingly far-flung issues as consumer culture, loneliness, animal protection, and self-reliance. In the process, he helps us move beyond theory to practical and positive social and ethical change.
Download or read book Complex Adaptive Leadership written by Nick Obolensky and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-11-01 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since its publication, Complex Adaptive Leadership has become a Gower bestseller that has been taught in corporate leadership programmes, business schools and universities around the world to high acclaim. In this updated paperback edition, Nick Obolensky argues that leadership should not be something only exercised by nominated leaders. It is a complex dynamic process involving all those engaged in a particular enterprise. The theoretical background to this lies in complexity science and chaos theory - spoken and written about in the context of leadership for the last 20 years, but still little understood. We all seem intuitively to know leadership 'isn't what it used to be' but we still cling to old assumptions which look anachronistic in changing and challenging times. Nick Obolensky has practised, researched and taught leadership in the public, private and voluntary sectors. In this exciting book he brings together his knowledge of theory, his own experience, and the results of 19 years of research involving 2,500 executives in 40 countries around the world. The main conclusion from that research is that the more complex things become, the less traditional directive leadership is needed. Those operating in the real world, nonetheless, need ways of coping. The book is focused on helping practitioners struggling to interpret and react to increasingly VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) times. The book will particularly appeal to practitioners wishing to improve their leadership effectiveness as well as for students and researchers in the field of leadership.
