Book excerpt: An encounter of knowledges, cultures, literary experiences and scientific approaches, from East and West, took the shape of this multifarious and bilingual collection of papers, entitled Wenxin Duihua A Dialogue on The Literary Mind / The Core of Writing. This work is meant to represent a first stage in an ongoing process of confrontation, in the domain of the Chinese literary and aesthetic tradition indelibly marked by the milestone of Wenxin Diaolong The six Chinese and European authors of this work shared their research and perspectives, enriched the literary and aesthetic landscape with deep reflections and original connections, and enhanced a polyphonic dialogue stemming from Liu Xie's heritage and reaching universal themes, like the essence of writing and the strong relationship between signs and images. Their contributions, crystallized in Wenxin Duihua A Dialogue on The Literary Mind / The Core of Writing, reveal the enormous potential of a multicultural approach, as well as the immeasurable profoundness of the wen 文.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why is there a need today for a new discipline such as neuromanagement? The volume deals with the theme of the applications of neuroscience to organizational contexts evaluating the current impact, the potential for future developments, as well as the critical issues related to neuroscientific paradigms and investigation techniques typical of the neuroscience domain. The first section of the book focuses on the “neuroscientific mindset” for changing, considering, between the other, how leadership can be discovered and empowered by a neuroscientific approach; the neurophysiological components of motivation involved in the pleasure of working and committing for social rewards, positive reinforces, and learning; the practical applications to promote change in the company; how neuromanagement allows us to evaluate and enhance individuals’ executive functions through neuroassessment protocols. The second section suggests well-being and safety as economic leverages, dealing with the issues of promoting trust, managing stress, and applying novel neuroscientific techniques for neuroenhancement. The third section is entitled technology and innovative homo sapiens and describes two main themes: big data application in the company and their possible intersection with the neuroscientific field; moral decision-making processes, able to have an impact on the whole organization and its single members. Or, in other words, this book explores how to discover human beings in organizations through their brains.

Download or read book Discourses of Authenticity on YouTube written by Giorgia Riboni and published by LED Edizioni Universitarie. This book was released on 2020-08-25T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the discourse of authenticity on the popular social media platform YouTube. It investigates how popular users negotiate their identity and discursively portray themselves as authentic in their videos. In so doing, it adds to the development of new perspectives on social media communication and offers an outlook on issues concerning the complexities of contemporary identity practices. Starting from the premise that authenticity is a discursive construction, the study adopts a linguistics-based approach and relies on a hybrid methodological toolkit that draws on the analytical tools provided by Social Media Critical Discourse Studies (SM-CDS), a newly-introduced framework comprised of different but interconnected levels of description. The volume presents three case studies which investigate the discursive and rhetorical strategies used by well-known users in order to come across as authentic. Videos produced by popular content creators belonging to different communities of practice (scientists, stay-at-home mothers, and makeup artists) are explored. The analysis reveals that they share a common set of identity characteristics, a common core of authentic traits famous YouTubers conventionally display to discursively depict themselves as genuine and credible.
Download or read book Sharing Professional Knowledge on Web 2 0 and beyond written by Giuliana Garzone (ed.) and published by LED Edizioni Universitarie. This book was released on 2020-05-27T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the use of Web-mediated digital technologies has constantly grown in importance, reshaping the communication landscape in all professional activities. Web 2.0 applications and platforms have evolved dramatically, exceeding all expectations, and have had an impact on all areas of activity, from personal and social to political and economic. A crucial role in this radical transformation has been played by social media, i.e. online resources enabling users to connect, interact, and share contents. They have changed social relations profoundly on an individual level, but also in their professional dimensions, transforming the dynamics of how professionals work, share knowledge and relate to each other and to their clients. This book explores online professional blogging and networking platforms, discussing methodological issues involved in analysing webmediated professional communication in a genre- and discourse- analytical perspective, with a focus on the structural and textual properties of genres on the Internet. The discursive objects investigated include professional weblogs, and in particular law blogs, professional groups on Facebook and LinkedIn, and LinkedIn job ads. Among the aspects examined are continuity with pre-existing traditional genres, generic integrity, and the debated status of social networking sites as platform users’ communities of practice.

Download or read book Telling Findings written by Gianna Fusco and published by LED Edizioni Universitarie. This book was released on 2016-04-19T15:55:00+02:00 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study is located at the fruitful intersection of Corpus Linguistics and Translation Studies and brings the theoretical contribution of both fields to the investigation of a corpus of highly specialized texts in the field of Islamic Archaeology. The tools and methodologies elaborated by Corpus Linguistics are applied to the analysis of a complex bilingual corpus (ArIIEL: Archaeology of Islam – Italian- English Lexicon), comprising academic texts in Italian and English. The investigation of this corpus highlights some crucial aspects of translation praxes (such as the identification of multi-word units of meaning) and allows the emergence of significant asymmetries at the level of the specialized lexicon between the two languages. These insights are based on the analytic examination of the two sub-corpora constituting ArIIEL, namely, a parallel corpus of texts originally written in Italian and their translation into English (ParArIIEL) and a comparable corpus of academic texts in English from the same field (CompArIIEL). This data-driven approach has theoretical outcomes for the study of translation, but also yields results that can lead to very practical applications, such as the gradual building of bilingual tools for professional translators and scholars alike. As an example of this, a corpus-based monodirectional Italian-English glossary of Islamic Archaeology is presented at the end of this volume.
Download or read book CLIL Content and Language Integrated Learning through English in Italian Higher Education written by Francesca Costa and published by LED Edizioni Universitarie. This book was released on 2016-11-28 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a research study monograph into an approach known as Content and Language Integrated Learning or CLIL through English in Italian higher education. There is as yet little agreement on terminology, definitions, learning theories or classroom approaches as regards CLIL. A distinction is therefore made between CLIL, ICLHE (Integrating Content and Language in Higher Education), Content-based Instruction, L2-medium Instruction and Bilingual Education. The research design comprises both quantitative and qualitative elements. A questionnaire survey of all Italian universities profiled the many courses presently delivered using English as the vehicular language, and found some homogeneity in process and subjects, but differences linked to private or public funding and to geographical area. A survey of students (n=134) was designed and administered to obtain their evaluation of a list of techniques used by lecturers to help students understand lectures delivered through English. Respondents recognised and considered as useful most of the categories, including the use of repetitions, examples, summaries, definitions, synonyms, questions and emphasising with intonation. The qualitative part involved observing, recording, transcribing, and analysing lectures delivered through English by four university science lecturers, who were also interviewed. Results confirm the validity of some input presentation strategies and show similarities and differences between student and lecturer perceptions. The data also show discrepancies, at times, between the strategies considered useful by the lecturers and those actually used in the classes.

Download or read book L era della Web Communication written by Riccardo Di Bari and published by Tangram Ediz. Scientifiche. This book was released on 2012-10-17 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
