Book excerpt: Fuels and New Propellants is a compendium of papers presented at a conference on Fuel and New Propellants by the Federazione Associazioni Scientifiche e Tecniche, sponsored by the Consiglio Nazionale Delle Ricerche, held at Milan, Italy in June 1963. The book presents the researches made on the scientific, technical, and industrial applications of new and improved fuels and propellants. The collection contains papers that deal with residual fuels and the marine diesel engine; the characteristics of processes for the production of high octane fuels; liquid and solid propellants for space rockets; and technical problems in the production of solid and liquid propellants. Petrochemists, chemists, and researchers in the field of fuels and propellants will find this text interesting and insightful.

Annotation Supplied by Informazioni Editoriali

Download or read book Knowledge and Institutions written by Johannes Glückler and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-07 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book bridges the disciplinary boundaries within the social sciences to explore the role of social institutions in shaping geographical contexts, and in creating new knowledge. It includes theorizations as well as original empirical case studies on the emergence, maintenance and change of institutions as well as on their constraining and enabling effects on innovation, entrepreneurship, art and cultural heritage, often at regional scales across Europe and North America. Rooted in the disciplines of management and organization studies, sociology, geography, political science, and economics the contributors all take comprehensive approaches to carve out the specific contextuality of institutions as well as their impact on societal outcomes. Not only does this book offer detailed insights into current debates in institutional theory, it also provides background for scholars, students, and professionals at the intersection between regional development, policy-making, and regulation.

Book excerpt: Robotics applications, initially developed for industrial and manufacturing contexts, are now strongly present in several elds. Besides well-known space and high-technology applications, robotics for every day life and medical s- vices is becoming more and more popular. As an example, robotic manipu- tors are particularly useful in surgery and radiation treatments, they could be employed for civil demining, for helping disabled people, and ultimately for domestic tasks, entertainment and education. Such a kind of robotic app- cations require the integration of many di erent skills. Autonomous vehicles and mobile robots in general must be integrated with articulated manipu- tors. Many robotic technologies (sensors, actuators and computing systems) must be properly used with speci c technologies (localisation, planning and control technologies). The task of designing robots for these applications is a hard challenge: a speci c competence in each area is demanded, in the e ort of a truly integrated multidisciplinary design.

Download or read book Waveform Design and Diversity for Advanced Radar Systems written by Fulvio Gini and published by IET. This book was released on 2012-05-18 with total page 573 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book to discuss current and future applications of waveform diversity and design in subjects such as radar and sonar, communications systems, passive sensing, and many other technologies. Waveform diversity allows researchers and system designers to optimize electromagnetic and acoustic systems for sensing, communications, electronic warfare or combinations thereof. It enables solutions to problems with how each system performs its own particular function as well as how it is affected by other systems and how those other systems may likewise be affected. It is an excellent standalone introduction to waveform diversity and design, which takes a high potential technology area and makes it visible to other researchers, as well as young engineers.
