Download or read book A Critical History of Psychotherapy Volume 1 written by Renato Foschi and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-11-08 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique book offers a comprehensive overview of the history of psychotherapy. The first of two volumes, it traces the roots of psychotherapy in ancient times, through the influence of Freud and Jung up to the events following World War II. The book shows how the history of psychotherapy has evolved over time through different branches and examines the offshoots as they develop. Each part of the book represents a significant period of time or a decade of the 20th century and provides a detailed overview of all significant movements within the history of psychology. The book also shows connections with history and contextualizes each therapeutic paradigm so it can be better understood in a broader social context. The book is the first of its kind to show the parallel evolution of different theories in psychotherapy. It will be essential reading for researchers and students in the fields of clinical psychology, psychotherapy, psychiatry, the history of medicine and psychology.
Download or read book L omicidio seriale in Italia written by Gigliola Napodano and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-01-19 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Manipolazione, dominio, controllo.
Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of the History of Psychology Global Perspectives written by David B. Baker and published by OUP USA. This book was released on 2012 with total page 662 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The science and practice of psychology has evolved around the world on different trajectories and timelines, yet with a convergence on the recognition of the need for a human science that can confront the challenges facing the world today. Few would argue that the standard narrative of the history of psychology has emphasized European and American traditions over others, but in today's global culture, there is a greater need in psychology for international understanding. This volume describes the historical development of psychology in countries throughout the world. Contributors provide narratives that examine the political and socioeconomic forces that have shaped their nations' psychologies. Each unique story adds another element to our understanding of the history of psychology. The chapters in this volume remind us that there are unique contexts and circumstances that influence the ways in which the science and practice of psychology are assimilated into our daily lives. Making these contexts and circumstances explicit through historical research and writing provides some promise of greater international insight, as well as a better understanding of the human condition.
Download or read book CBT Case Formulation as Therapeutic Process written by Giovanni Maria Ruggiero and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-09 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reasserts the importance of case formulation as the first step in implementing effective cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT), centering it as the main operative tool of CBT approaches by which the therapist handles the whole psychotherapeutic process. Chapters discuss specific CBT interventions and components of the treatment, aspecific factors including therapeutic alliance and relationship, and theoretical and historical background of CBT practices. In addition, the book assumes that in CBTs the case formulation is a procedure which is continuously shared and reevaluated between patient and therapist throughout the course of treatment. This aspect is increasingly becoming the distinguishing feature of CBT approaches as it embodies CBT's basic tenets and implies full confidence in patients’ conscious agreement, transparent cooperation and explicit commitment with CBT’s model of clinical change.

Download or read book Sexuality Gender Education written by Joseph Tham, L.C. and published by IF Press. This book was released on 2018-03-15 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The debates on gender and sexuality are widespread today. Many claim that a cultural war is being waged between “conservatives” who uphold the time-honored values of family and sexuality and “liberals” who promote an agenda to redefine these traditional roles. Since the public is often uninformed about the science and philosophical currents undergirding the questions of gender and sexuality, the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum organized an academic symposium in Rome to shed light on the debate. This book gathers the insights of that symposium, which integrated the disciplines of medicine, neuroscience, psychology, psychiatry, history, philosophy, moral theology, biblical studies, law, bioethics, and pedagogy. This work is aimed at Catholics and all those who seek a more profound understanding of one of today’s most important topics. In the personalist approach of bioethics, the natural law tradition distinguishes the person from his or her acts. In the case of same-sex attractions, the Church teaches clearly that the inclination is not in itself sinful, and that persons with such attractions are deserving of respect and compassion in accord with their full human dignity. Nonetheless, same-sex acts are not natural or ordered. The Church strives to build bridges with the LGBT community by fostering a relationship of compassion, sensitivity, and mutual respect. However, real bridges also require honesty and openness to the truths that pertain to human sexuality, procreation, the family, and the education of future generation.

Download or read book Frailty in Children written by Mario Lima and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-03 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the management strategies of complex conditions of frail pediatric patients. The clinical condition of frailty is usually seen as the physiological and multidimensional decline of organ systems related to age: paradoxically, a frailty condition can also occur in children as a disability resulting from various congenital or acquired diseases. The fragile patients are more vulnerable to developing severe clinical events and often need surgical interventions. Moreover, those patients have significant morbidity and lower quality of life. The improvement in managing fragile patients has improved their life expectancy, but in most health care systems, the passage from childhood to adulthood is a critical point for the lack of medical figures able to provide the continuity of care. The book aims to provide guidance for dealing with medical and surgical emergencies and to develop short and long-term treatment strategies, and will provide an analysis of the different and the most innovative techniques. This book will be an unvaluable tool for Pediatric surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Critical Care Physicians, Hospital and family Pediatricians, nurses, Physiotherapists and Psychologists.
