Book Dislocations Mesoscale Simulations and Plastic Flow

Download or read book Dislocations Mesoscale Simulations and Plastic Flow written by L. Kubin and published by Oxford University Press (UK). This book was released on 2013-04-18 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past twenty years, new experimental approaches, improved models and progress in simulation techniques brought new insights into long-standing issues concerning dislocation-based plasticity in crystalline materials. Dislocation dynamics simulations are becoming accessible to a wide range of users. This book presents to students and researchers in materials science and mechanical engineering a comprehensive coverage of the physical body of knowledge on whichthey are based. This includes classical studies, which are too often ignored, recent experimental and theoretical advances, as well as a discussion of selected applications on various topics.

Book Ultra and Extremely Low Frequency Electromagnetic Fields

Download or read book Ultra and Extremely Low Frequency Electromagnetic Fields written by Vadim Surkov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-07-08 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The major emphasis of this book is on physical mechanisms and sources of the ULF/ELF natural electromagnetic fields noises. In the course of this text, some of these mechanisms of magnetospheric origin will be treated in detail and others in a more sketchy fashion, while the global electromagnetic resonances excited by lightning activity and other sources are the priority. The interested reader is referred to the books cited in the text for details about the ULF/ELF fields of magnetospheric origin. Much emphasis is put on studies of electromagnetic phenomena caused by rock deformation/fracture including the ULF/ELF effects possibly associated with tectonic activity, earthquakes and other natural disasters. One of the challenges of this research is to fully understand electromagnetic effects and physical processes in the rocks deep in the Earth’s crust.

Book Autowave Plasticity

    Book Details:
  • Author : Lev Zuev
  • Publisher : CRC Press
  • Release : 2020-04-11
  • ISBN : 1000073637
  • Pages : 200 pages

Download or read book Autowave Plasticity written by Lev Zuev and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-04-11 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Autowave Plasticity: Localization and Collective Modes discusses the nature of plastic flow in solids associated with the development of a localized plastic flow. Written by an authority in the field, the author demonstrates how patterns of localized plastic flow are associated with autowave modes that are generated in a deformable sample and delivers a complete work on the subject. Key Features An original work on the nature of plastic flows in solids, particularly metals and crystals Focuses on plastic flow as an autowave process Contains elements of theories, experimental considerations, and numerical modeling This reference will help readers with creating experimental methods to observe or localize plastic flow and with the modeling of plastic flows. It is a valuable reference for graduate students and research specialists working in material science.

Book Triboluminescence

Download or read book Triboluminescence written by David O. Olawale and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-19 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book expounds on progress made over the last 35 years in the theory, synthesis, and application of triboluminescence for creating smart structures. It presents in detail the research into utilization of the triboluminescent properties of certain crystals as new sensor systems for smart engineering structures, as well as triboluminescence-based sensor systems that have the potential to enable wireless, in-situ, real time and distributed (WIRD) structural health monitoring of composite structures. The sensor component of any structural health monitoring (SHM) technology — measures the effects of the external load/event and provides the necessary inputs for appropriate preventive/corrective action to be taken in a smart structure — sits at the heart of such a system. This volume explores advances in materials properties and structural behavior underlying creation of smart composite structures and sensor systems for structural health monitoring of critical engineering structures, such as bridges, aircrafts, and wind blades.
