Book Radio Frequency Propagation Through an Inhomogeneous Magnetoactive Nonlinear Plasma Medium

Download or read book Radio Frequency Propagation Through an Inhomogeneous Magnetoactive Nonlinear Plasma Medium written by R. J. Papa and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Boltzmann equation corresponding to an electromagnetic wave propagating in a magnetoactive plasma is solved by making a spherical harmonic expansion of the electron distribution function. The problem of a plane, monochromatic wave normally incident upon a nonlinear, anisotropic, inhomogeneous plasma slab is also considered.

Book Wave Propagation in a Non Maxwellian Magnetoactive Nonlinear Plasma

Download or read book Wave Propagation in a Non Maxwellian Magnetoactive Nonlinear Plasma written by Robert J. Papa and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Expressions for the components of a nonlinear ac conductivity tensor have been derived - corresponding to a temperate, weakly ionized, lossy magnetoplsma. The electrical conductivity tensor is nonlinear because its components are functions of the isotropic part of the electron velocity distribution function f, where f depends upon the amplitude and polarization of the local rf field By diagonalizing the conductivity tensor and referring Maxwell's field equations to the principal co-ordinate directions, it is shown that an elliptically polarized em wave normally incident upon an inhomogeneous magnetoplasma slab will launch only a right-hand and left-hand wave into the plasma if both the dc magnetic field and the electron density gradients are perpendicular to the interfaces. The net reflection transmission coefficients for left-hand and right-hand modes are computed using a Runge-Kutta numerical integration procedure. For low power levels, the right-hand and left-hand waves propagate independently of one another. For high field intensities, the propagation of the right-hand mode depends upon the amplitude of the left-hand mode, and vice versa. Reflection and transmission coefficients are presented as a function of normalized plasma parameters. (Author).

Book Nonlinear Electromagnetic Wave Propagation in Plasmas

Download or read book Nonlinear Electromagnetic Wave Propagation in Plasmas written by Robert J. Papa and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A review is presented of the current literature pertaining to high power rf field-plasma interactions. In the survey, the class of nonlinear interactions is restricted to the case where the effective dielectric constant of the plasma is a function of the local electric field intensity. Since the propagation characteristics of an em wave depend upon the effective dielectric constant, the presence of an intense rf field can modify the propagation characteristics of an em wave. The assumptions and basic theoretical approach of each author are discussed and the most significant results are summarized. The approaches used by different authors are compared. A critique is made of the various appraches and their advantages and limitations are pointed out. (Author).

Book Electromagnetic Wave Propagation for Industry and Biomedical Applications

Download or read book Electromagnetic Wave Propagation for Industry and Biomedical Applications written by Lulu Wang and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2022-03-16 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights original research and high-quality technical briefs on electromagnetic wave propagation, radiation, and scattering, and their applications in industry and biomedical engineering. It also presents recent research achievements in the theoretical, computational, and experimental aspects of electromagnetic wave propagation, radiation, and scattering. The book is divided into three sections. Section 1 consists of chapters with general mathematical methods and approaches to the forward and inverse problems of wave propagation. Section 2 presents the problems of wave propagation in superconducting materials and porous media. Finally, Section 3 discusses various industry and biomedical applications of electromagnetic wave propagation, radiation, and scattering.

Book Radiation in Astrophysical Plasmas

Download or read book Radiation in Astrophysical Plasmas written by V.V. Zheleznyakov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interest in the problem of interaction between radiation and astrophysical plasmas arose decades ago. Initially, this was closely related to the discovery of radio emission from the Sun and Galaxy which alerted theoretical radio astronomers to the problem of the origin of extra-terrestrial radio emission. It has been found that the observed radio emission from cosmic sources is generated by virtue of the mechanisms which work mainly in plasma (an ionized gas). Recently, the theory of generation and propagation of radiation in astrophysical plasmas has outgrown its parent domain of theoretical radio astronomy and is being successfully applied to other fields, such as high-energy astrophysics. General results obtained in this field may also help to better understand the complicated phenomena in laboratory plasmas on the Earth. At the same time, analysis of interaction between radiation and astrophysical plasmas under extreme conditions (strong magnetic fields of white dwarfs and neutron stars or strong gravitational fields in the vicinity of black holes) stimulates the development of plasma physics as a whole. In fact, the physics of plasma under extreme conditions in space is a new branch of fundamental science. The monograph contains the description of physical processes involved in interaction between radiation and astrophysical plasmas. It comprises the reasonable minimum necessary for understanding the emission and propagation of electromagnetic waves in astrophysical plasmas; without this minimum one could not succeed in interpreting the results of a number of astronomical observations. Audience: This monograph will be useful for graduate and post-graduate students and young scientists as a textbook on plasma astrophysics and the issues of plasma physics dealing with radiation. At the same time, the book can be used by specialists on astrophysics, radio astronomy and plasma physics.

Book Electrodynamics of Magnetoactive Media

Download or read book Electrodynamics of Magnetoactive Media written by Israel D. Vagner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main part of the book describes the behaviour of a charged particle in an electromagnetic field, and the electrodynamics of plasmas, liquid crystals and superconductors. These very different subjects have an important common feature, namely the fundamental role played by the magnetic field. Plasmas, liquid crystals and superconductors can be considered as magnetoactive media, because their electromagnetic characteristics are strongly affected by an external magnetic field.
