Book Electromagnetic Measurements in the Near Field

Download or read book Electromagnetic Measurements in the Near Field written by Pawel Bienkowski and published by IET. This book was released on 2012-06-30 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the specific problems of electromagnetic field (EMF) measurements in the near field and to the analysis of the main factors which impede accuracy in these measurements. It focuses on careful and accurate design of systems to measure in the near field based on a thorough understanding of the fundamental engineering principles and on an analysis of the likely system errors. Beginning with a short introduction to electromagnetic fields with an emphasis on the near field, it then presents methods of EMF measurements in near field conditions. It details the factors limiting measurement accuracy including internal ones (thermal stability, frequency response, dynamic characteristics, susceptibility) and external ones (field integration, mutual couplings between a probe and primary and secondary EMF sources, directional pattern deformations). It continues with a discussion on how to gauge the parameters declared by an EMF meter manufacturer and simple methods for testing these parameters. It also details how designers of measuring equipment can reconsider the near field when designing and testing, as well as how users can exploit the knowledge within the book to ensure their tests and results contain the most accurate measurements possible. The SciTech Publishing Series on Electromagnetic Compatibility provides a continuously growing body of knowledge in the latest development and best practices in electromagnetic compatibility engineering. This series provides specialist and non-specialist professionals and students practical knowledge that is thoroughly grounded in relevant theory.

Book Near Field Antenna Measurements

Download or read book Near Field Antenna Measurements written by Vadim Serafimovich Kalashnikov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-27 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is useful both for those who want to get initial information on the measurement of the antenna parameters, and for specialists directly involved in the experimental determination of the antenna parameters from the results of measuring the amplitude-phase distribution in the near zone of the antennas. Currently, the near-field method is the most common one for antenna measurements. In most books, an academic approach is given to the issue under consideration and it is difficult to use them for the direct organization of measurements. In many others, specific narrow issues are considered that are accessible to understanding only by highly qualified engineers/readers. The purpose of this book is to get rid of the above disadvantages by offering the reader a more accessible exposition and formulas by which appropriate computer programs can be written with minimal effort. The contents of this book allow interested specialists to be not only users of the near-field measuring facilities, but also help in understanding the principles of their work. This book is intended for engineers and specialists whose activities are related to experimental testing of radio characteristics of complex antenna systems, especially near-field measurements, and is also useful as a textbook for senior students in the field of “radioelectronics” and “radiophysics.”

Book Human Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields

Download or read book Human Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields written by Patrick Staebler and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-05-12 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone, whether they like it or not, is exposed to electromagnetic fields, most of the time, at very low levels. In this case, they are inconsequential, but they can cause adverse health effects when they become intense enough. This topic is complex and sensitive. Covering frequencies from 0 Hz to 300 GHz, Human Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields provides an overview of this vast topic. After a reminder of the concepts of electromagnetic fields, the author presents some examples of sources of radiation in daily life and in the industrial or medical sectors. The biophysical and biological effects of these fields on the human body are detailed and the exposure limits are recalled. The exposure assessment and the implementation of the appropriate regulation within companies are also covered. Technically and practically, this book is aimed at people with a scientific background, risk prevention actors, health physicians, especially occupational doctors, and equipment designers.

Book Electromagnetic Field Measurements Near a Single Stage Reconnection Gun

Download or read book Electromagnetic Field Measurements Near a Single Stage Reconnection Gun written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electromagnetic (EM) field measurements were obtained near a single-stage reconnection gun accelerating a 194-gm, 4 x 4.5 x 1/4 in. aluminum plate. This type of EM launcher is of interest as an alternative for using explosive charges to launch a plate in the edge-on orientation. Electric and magnetic field measurements were designed to characterize the transient EM environment (EME) external to this capacitor-based EM launch system. The available data are included and selected data are discussed to illustrate the time history and spatial variation of the measured EME. The early time EM fields associated with this system are directly related to the coil current, but under operational conditions there is a late-time electric field associated with the induced eddy currents in the plate. This report summarizes progress to date in characterizing this EME in terms of the relevant system parameters such as coil current and plate velocity.

Book Plane Wave Theory of Time Domain Fields

Download or read book Plane Wave Theory of Time Domain Fields written by Thorkild B. Hansen and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1999-06-10 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This invaluable book provides a comprehensive framework for the formulation and solution ofnumerous problems involving the radiation, reception, propagation, and scattering of electromagnetic and acoustic waves. Filled with original derivations and theorems, it includes the first rigorous development of plane-wave expansions for time-domain electromagnetic and acoustic fields. For the past 35 years, near-field measurement techniques have been confined to the frequency domain. Now, with the publication of this book, probe-corrected near-field measurement techniques have been extended to ultra-wide-band, short-pulse transmitting and receiving antennas and transducers. By combining unencumbered straightforward derivations with in-depth expositions of prerequisite material, the authors have created an invaluable resource for research scientists and engineers in electromagnetics and acoustics, and a definitive reference on plane-wave expansions and near-field measurements. Featured topics include: * An introduction to the basic electromagnetic and acoustic field equations * A rigorous development of time-domain and frequency-domain plane-wave representations * The formulation of time-domain, frequency-domain, and static planar near-field measurement techniques with and without probe-correction * Sampling theorems and computation schemes for time-domain and frequency-domain fields * Analytic-signal formulas that simplify the formulation and analysis of transient fields * Wave phenomena, such as ``electromagnetic missiles"" encountered only in the time domain * Definitive force and power relations for electromagnetic and acoustic fields and sources."
