Download or read book Inelastic Analysis of Structures written by Milan Jirasek and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2001-12-21 with total page 770 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. (05/00)

Book Inelastic Analysis of Solids and Structures

Download or read book Inelastic Analysis of Solids and Structures written by M. Kojic and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-07-28 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inelastic Analysis of Solids and Structures presents in a unified manner the physical and theoretical background of inelastic material models and computational methods, and illustrates the behavior of the models in typical engineering conditions. The book describes experimental observations and principles of mechanics, and efficient computational algorithms for stress calculations as typically performed in finite element analysis. The theoretical background is given to an extent necessary to describe the commonly employed material models in metal isotropic and orthotropic plasticity, thermoplasticity and viscoplasticity, and the plasticity of geological materials. The computational algorithms are developed in a unified manner with some detailed derivations of the algorithmic relations. Many solved examples are presented, which are designed to give insight into the material behavior in various engineering conditions, and to demonstrate the application of the computational algorithms.

Book A Teaching Essay on Residual Stresses and Eigenstrains

Download or read book A Teaching Essay on Residual Stresses and Eigenstrains written by Alexander M. Korsunsky and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2017-06-08 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Residual stresses are an important subject in materials science and engineering that has implications across disciplines, from quantum dots to human teeth, from aeroengines to automotive surface finishing. Although a number of monographs exist, no resource is available in the form of a book to serve as a good basis for teaching the fundamentals. A Teaching Essay on Residual Stresses and Eigenstrains introduces eigenstrain methods as a powerful unified approach to residual stress modeling, measurement, and management. Starting with simple residual stress states, the key relationships are elucidated between deformation processes, inelastic strains (eigenstrains) these may introduce, and the resulting residual stress states. This book is written not only for the materials scientist, mechanical engineer, and student seeking to appreciate the origins of residual stress, but also for the more mature researcher and industrial engineer looking to improve their understanding of the eigenstrain approach to describing residual stress. Provides a unified basis for understanding the fundamentals of residual stress origins and consequences Introduces a classification of the most important residual stress states and their efficient description, as well as discussing measurement approaches, their limitations, and uses Approaches the nature and application of eigenstrain methods in a systematic way to describe residual stress fields

Book Circular Cylinders and Pressure Vessels

Download or read book Circular Cylinders and Pressure Vessels written by Vincenzo Vullo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-29 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides comprehensive coverage of stress and strain analysis of circular cylinders and pressure vessels, one of the classic topics of machine design theory and methodology. Whereas other books offer only a partial treatment of the subject and frequently consider stress analysis solely in the elastic field, Circular Cylinders and Pressure Vessels broadens the design horizons, analyzing theoretically what happens at pressures that stress the material beyond its yield point and at thermal loads that give rise to creep. The consideration of both traditional and advanced topics ensures that the book will be of value for a broad spectrum of readers, including students in postgraduate, and doctoral programs and established researchers and design engineers. The relations provided will serve as a sound basis for the design of products that are safe, technologically sophisticated, and compliant with standards and codes and for the development of innovative applications.

Book Elastic and Inelastic Thermal Stresses in an Infinite Flat Plate

Download or read book Elastic and Inelastic Thermal Stresses in an Infinite Flat Plate written by S. SCESA and published by . This book was released on 1958 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An elastic and inelas. scesa. 15 June 58, 34p. incl. illus. 11 refs. (Publication no. U-223) (Contract AF 04(647)155) Unclassified report DESCRIPTORS: (*Sheets, *Graphite, Heat trans fer, tic thermal stress analysis considering an infinite flat plate restrained in bending is investigated. Results of stress distributions and histories are presented for graphite using typical properties of this material and heat rates associated with re-entry body design. These results indicate that the elastic theory overestimates the magnitude of the maximum stresses due to the importance of stress relaxation which is considered in the inelastic stress analysis. Proper choice of graphite thickness and thermal conductivity for a given heat flux permits minimization of the maximum thermal stresses. (Author).
