El que domina el lenguaje, y en estos tiempos también la imagen, tiene ya mucho ganado cuando hay un auditorio al que persuadir. En este libro se hablará frecuentemente de periodismo, pues el lenguaje político tiene una indudable relación con los medios de comunicación y estos imponen en gran medida su ley, de modo que el mensaje político se adapta en muchos casos al canal por el que fluye. La recogida de datos para este trabajo se ha hecho a lo largo de nueve años, y las fuentes pretenden captar el discurso político en todas sus variedades y circunstancias. Fuera del ámbito parlamentario se han recogido declaraciones de los tres diarios de implantación nacional más importantes: «El País», «El Mundo» y el «ABC». En el ámbito de la actividad parlamentaria se ha tenido como referencia el «Diario de Sesiones del Congreso de los Diputados». Se han revisado también los documentos que ofrecen los partidos políticos en sus páginas web (artículos, boletines, programas electorales, etc.). Y por supuesto se ha acudido a la radio y la televisión para tener una mayor perspectiva.

Partiendo del modelo de construcción del discurso político, este trabajo se articula alrededor de los siguientes objetivos principales: primero, desde el punto de vista de las propiedades discursivas del lenguaje político, se pretende observar la lengua utilizada en la comunicación política para confirmar si existe un lenguaje verdaderamente político y descubrir qué rasgos lingüísticos y funciones particulares tiene este tipo del lenguaje; segundo, se plantea analizar las diferencias de usos gramaticales en los discursos políticos entre España y China a partir de los rasgos lingüísticos que diferencian ambas lenguas; por último, desde la perspectiva de la relación entre el discurso político y la ideología, se intenta descubrir los factores ideológicos que existen detrás de las características lingüísticas, e ilustrar cómo el discurso político se relaciona con el poder y la cognición social...

Taking place at the beginning of Spain’s Second Republic, those parliamentary deliberations brought about significant novelties in the political vocabulary. Concepts such as democracy, sovereignty, reform, revolution, and freedom, among others, were re-signified. This study investigates the conceptual contributions made by Spanish MPs in the course of the constitutional debate of 1931 by assuming, as a research approach, an interdisciplinary stance combining conceptual history, political theory, and parliamentary constitutional history. By doing so, it selects five determining issues: the pervasive discussion about two competing meanings of a democratic state; the rhetorical uses of reform and revolution; conceptual controversies about religious freedom; the disputed idea of property rights; and the functions of parliament and the president of the republic in a semi-presidential regime. The constitutional debate was largely inspired by interwar European constitutionalism which constituent representatives used to update the Spanish constitutional tradition. With that goal in mind, this book is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students and scholars working in the fields of conceptual history, political philosophy, parliamentary history, European political history, and European constitutionalism.
