Download or read book The Indonesian Language written by James N. Sneddon and published by Thomas Telford. This book was released on 2003 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book, the first of its kind, is a historical, social, cultural and linguistic study of Indonesian. It traces the origins and pre-colonial development of the language, the emergence of Classical Malay from the fourteenth century, the choice of Malay by the nationalist movement as the national language prior to independence, the planning associated with the adoption and implementation of the language, its borrowings from other language, its use in contemporary Indonesia and its future. The book challenges many assumptions about Indonesian, particularly countering the myth that Indonesian is a simple language."--BOOK JACKET.
Download or read book Understanding Indonesian Plays Wayang and Brechtian Strategy written by Antonius Herujiyanto and published by Sanata Dharma University Press. This book was released on 2020-03-11 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This (research) book highlights the unavoidable conversation engaging readers about the meaning and significance of Indonesian plays from the flights of Wayang and Brechtian strategy. The goal is, thus, to provide those willing to understand Indonesian plays with the necessary steps to go through. Not only are they invited to pay a visit to (world) literature, but they are also to deal with cultural studies, the dramatictext, and a critical vocabulary common to play analysis. Offering a response to such a compact goal, there are important things that need pointing out, namely, the elaboration of Wayang strategy and its application. This also suggests highlighting Brechtian strategy, the world of literature, Indonesian literature, Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language) and its roles within the national political affairs. This book is, thus, organized to discuss methods of play analysis which primarily means to find the meaning of the very plays, in this case the work of Arifin C. Noer.

Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

About the Author Dale Helm is an ex-military man who, after completion of a university degree, chose a career in international tech business. He has lived in Finland, the Netherlands, and the USA. Currently, Helm lives in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and works remotely as a manager for a high-tech company. He has always been an active sportsman with backgrounds in skiing, soccer, hockey, and most other games you need a racket for. Helm served in the military branch that required extreme outdoors skills, so he is rather proficient in orienteering and surviving in harsh arctic conditions year-round. He has logged nearly a thousand skydive jumps and used to be a jumpmaster. Helm has two grown boys who live on their own and two grandkids. He is married but lives most of the time with his Siberian Husky with whom he hikes and skis on a daily basis. Download or read book HOME AND AWAY INDONESIAN WOMEN AND THEIR UNIQUE TRANSNATIONAL MIGRATION EXPERIENCES IN MALAYSIA written by MASHITAH HAMIDI and published by The University of Malaya Press. This book was released on 2017-01-01 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the migration processes and experiences of female labour migrants from Indonesia to Malaysia’s manufacturing sector. Their stories depict labour migration as a process shaped by the intersection of external, structural forces and individual desires and motivations. Labour migration was valued and evaluated as an “investment”, one that was calculated not only in terms of financial security but also in relation to personal rewards and experiences unavailable to them at home. These labour migrants negotiated a number of externally imposed demands and conditions, ranging from migration regulations, the challenges of settlement in a new city, factory floor relations, and the negative stereotypes attached to female Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia. Such constraints did not simply result in their sense of victimisation, as the interviews revealed the women’s capacity to resist, negotiate and comply with such factors. The book distinguishes between two groups of migrants: inexperienced, first-time migrants and experienced repeat migrants.
Download or read book To Free a Dolphin written by Keith Coulbourn and published by Renaissance Books. This book was released on 2015-10-06 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this memorable first book, Behind the Dolphin Smile, Richard O'Barry told the inspiring story of his personal transformation from world-famous dolphin trainer (Flipper was his pupil) to dolphin liberator. Now, in To Free a Dolphin, he passionately recounts the dramatic story of his heart-breaking campaign to release captive dolphins back into the wild. With wit and insight he chronicles the extreme opposition he has faced from bureaucrats, major players in the captive-dolphin industry, rival wildlife groups, and well-meaning sentimentalists. He introduces readers to famous show animals he has helped, including Bogie and Bacall of Key Largo. And, most fascinating, he describes his struggles to deprogram and rehabilitate dolphins emotionally scarred from years of captivity--struggles that become battles for the animals' souls.
