Book Improved Oil Recovery

Download or read book Improved Oil Recovery written by Editions Technic Staff and published by Editions OPHRYS. This book was released on 1990 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes in extensive detail the new technologies that are currently in use or under development, which are designed to provide high-quality fuels and ensure their optimal use in the engines used to power automobiles, trucks, aircraft, and ships. All types of fuels are covered: gasolines, diesel fuels, liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas, biofuels, jet fuels, heavy fuels, and fuels for special uses. The evaluation criteria include vehicle performance and driveability, reduction in fossil fuel consumption, and environmental protection. The specific situations encountered in each region of the world (including the United States, Europe, Japan and the developing countries) are analyzed and compared, with a focus on energy, economics and politics. This book is a scientific work, yet easy to read; it is objective, yet actively involved. It is thus an excellent reference work for those seeking pertinent, reliable and comprehensive information on the the subject of fuels and engines.Volume 1Contents: 1. Physical properties and chemical characteristics of fuels. 2. Refining technologies. 3. Gasoline. 4. Diesel fuelVolume 2Contents: 5. Fuels, fuel consumption and environmental protection. 6. Alternatice fuels. 7. Special Fuels. 8. The Fuels and engines of tomorrow.

Book Controlling Automobile Air Pollution

Download or read book Controlling Automobile Air Pollution written by Winston Harrington and published by Ashgate Publishing. This book was released on 2007 with total page 592 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume includes many of the most influential and interesting academic articles related to the economics of mobile source pollution control. The papers included explore why vehicles and vehicle markets are unique, provide estimates of the type and magnitude of the social costs of driving and examine estimation methods and estimates of the various elasticities of vehicle demand. Analysis of the social costs and policies to reduce both traditional air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions are included. Selected articles review the range of evaluation of both regulatory and market-based approaches to controlling emissions. The complexity of the effects of different policies are emphasized and the unintended consequences of regulation are explored in the context of vehicle emissions reduction policies.

Book Catalysis and Automotive Pollution Control III

Download or read book Catalysis and Automotive Pollution Control III written by A. Frennet and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995-11-02 with total page 959 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings are based on the third of a series of symposia devoted to the use of catalysis for the depollution of exhaust gases of motor vehicles. Although catalysts have been used for this purpose for some thirty years, the subject is still very topical because of its economic impact. The increasing number of submitted, accepted and published papers amply attests to this fact.

Book Ozone Forming Potential of Reformulated Gasoline

Download or read book Ozone Forming Potential of Reformulated Gasoline written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1999-09-23 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Committee on Ozone-Forming Potential for Reformulated Gasoline was asked whether the existing body of scientific and technical information is sufficient to permit a robust evaluation and comparison of the emissions from motor vehicles using different reformulated gasolines based on their ozone-forming potentials and to assess the concomitant impact of that approach on air-quality benefits of the use of oxygenates within the RFG program. As part of its charge, the committee was asked to consider (1) the technical soundness of various approaches for evaluating and comparing the relative ozone-forming potentials of RFG blends, (2) technical aspects of various air-quality issues related to RFG assessment, and (3) the sensitivity of evaluations of the relative ozone-forming potentials to factors related to fuel properties and the variability of vehicle technologies and driving patterns.
