Book EFFECTS OF HEATING CHROMATE CONVERSION COATINGS

Download or read book EFFECTS OF HEATING CHROMATE CONVERSION COATINGS written by and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemical chromate conversion coated zinc, cadmium, aluminum and magnesium were oven heated at temperatures from 50 to 200C and subsequently tested for salt spray corrosion resistance. Chromated zinc and aluminum were adversely affected in corrosion resistance after exposure to air temperatures above 100C. Exposure to elevated temperatures resulted in insolubilization of hexavalent chromium and cracking of the chromate coating.

Book Effect of Heat on Chromate Conversion Coatings Used as Paint Pretreatments

Download or read book Effect of Heat on Chromate Conversion Coatings Used as Paint Pretreatments written by William H. Deaver and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report covers a study on the effect of the corrosion resistance provided by chromate conversion coatings used as metal pretreatments prior to painting. Chromate treated galvanized, electrolytic zinc plated steel, aluminum and magnesium panels were heated before or after painting at temperatures from 120F to 392F for periods up to one hour and subjected to salt spray testing. It was shown that corrosion resistance of painted chromate treated galvanized and electrolytic zinc plated steel is reduced whether painted before or after exposure to heat. This did not occur with treatments for aluminum and magnesium. (Author).

Download or read book Chromate Conversion Coating of Aluminum Alloys written by and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the variables inherent in the processing of aluminum alloys with chromate conversion coatings. These include cleaning, deoxidizing, chromating, rinsing, as well as metal source and heat treatment effects. An optimum process for chromating aluminum alloys for military usage is outlined. Book HEAT RESISTANT CHROMATE CONVERSION COATINGS

Download or read book HEAT RESISTANT CHROMATE CONVERSION COATINGS written by and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation of means for preventing the adverse effect of heat on the corrosion resistance of chromated metals was conducted. Treatment of chromated zinc or aluminum by simple immersion in sodium silicate, barium nitrate, glycerine or sodium dichromate solution in some instances provided considerable retention of corrosion resistance in spite of subjection to elevated temperatures up to 200C.

Book High Temperature Coatings

Download or read book High Temperature Coatings written by Sudhangshu Bose and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-04-01 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High Temperature Coatings demonstrates how to counteract the thermal effects of the rapid corrosion and degradation of exposed materials and equipment that can occur under high operating temperatures. This is the first true practical guide on the use of thermally-protective coatings for high-temperature applications, including the latest developments in materials used for protective coatings. It covers the make-up and behavior of such materials under thermal stress and the methods used for applying them to specific types of substrates, as well as invaluable advice on inspection and repair of existing thermal coatings. With his long experience in the aerospace gas turbine industry, the author has compiled the very latest in coating materials and coating technologies, as well as hard-to-find guidance on maintaining and repairing thermal coatings, including appropriate inspection protocols. The book will be supplemented with the latest reference information and additional support for finding more application-type and industry-type coatings specifications and uses, with help for the reader in finding more detailed information on a specific type of coating or a specific type of use.· Offers overview of the underlying fundamental concepts of thermally-protective coatings, including thermodynamics, energy kinetics, crystallography, and equilibrium phases· Covers essential chemistry and physics of underlying substrates, including steels, nickel-iron alloys, nickel-cobalt alloys, and titanium alloys· Provides detailed guidance on wide variety of coating types, including those used against high temperature corrosion and oxidative degradation, as well as thermal barrier coatings

Book Graham s Electroplating Engineering Handbook

Download or read book Graham s Electroplating Engineering Handbook written by L.J. Durney and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1984-11-30 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As an instructor in various finishing courses, I have frequently made the statement over the years that "In the field of metal finishing there is very little black and white, just a great deal of grey. It is the purpose of the instructor to familiarize the student with the beacons that will guide him through this fog. " To a very considerable extent, a handbook such as this serves a similar purpose. It is also subject to similar limitations. Providing all the required information would result in a multi-volume encyclopedia rather than a usable handbook. In the pages that follow, you will therefore find frequent references to other sources where more detailed explanations or information can be found. The present goal is proper guidance and the provision ofthe most frequently required facts, not everything that is available. In the 13 years since the last edition, changes in the finishing industry have been profound but in one sense have resulted in simplifying matters rather than complicating them. Because technology has advanced to a level of complexity rendering "home brew" impracti cal in many cases, dependence on proprietary compounds has become common. Therefore, detailed solution compositions are often no longer significant or even practical. It is thus more important to provide instruction about the factors that affect the choice of the most suitable type of proprietary material.
