Download or read book The Power of Fear written by Soraya F Presume Calixte Ph D and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-20 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who can go through life without experiencing fear? As I look back I recall some frightful events in my own life. Experiencing two civil wars from the age of 10 through 12 certainly instilled fear in me. Fear can be debilitating and how many of us struggle with it throughout our lives? As I read this book I couldn't help but wonder the pervasiveness of this issue. This book is relevant, important, practical, and it benefits us all. The Power of Fear is a timely and refreshing look at a topic that keeps many of us, believers and nonbelievers alike, in bondage. It reads like an honest intimate conversation with a friend at a coffee shop. Although the topic is heavy and dense the author manages to leave us with hope and expectation that this too can and shall be overcome. All the while, guiding us to numerous biblical examples that attest to how fear can be conquered. In addition, this book sensitively takes us on a journey via the testimonies of individuals from whom we can not only empathize but also learn. I honor each and every one of their stories. The author, in a clever way, parallels biblical examples of triumph to our practical experiences so that we too, by applying the same principles, can also win the same battle. Since none of us are immune from this pervasive spirit, it is imperative that one arm oneself. The Power of Fear not only serves as a pertinent read but also as a reference to the many scriptural passages one should study when dealing with the subject of fear. Where better to look to than the bible in which we find all instruction to living a victorious life? Thank you, Soraya, for venturing into this God-led journey and condensing this information so that more people can gain knowledge of the One who can truly liberate us from the spirit of fear. In this way live life more abundantly! Maria Pina

Book Future Directions for Inclusive Teacher Education

Download or read book Future Directions for Inclusive Teacher Education written by Chris Forlin and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-05-23 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are teachers ready for inclusion? What is appropriate teacher education? Traditional approaches to inclusive education focused on learners with disabilities. Modern approaches, however, conceptualise inclusion in terms of providing educational equity and equality of access for all students within the same regular school system. Future Directions for Inclusive Teacher Education provides a wealth of ideas about how to support teachers to become inclusive through the application of positive training approaches. Written by some of the most influential internationally acknowledged experts in teacher education for inclusion and highly experienced researchers, together the authors provide a plethora of ideas for teacher educators to ensure that their training is pertinent, accessible, and futures-orientated. This up to date and accessible book combines three key areas related to teacher education for inclusion, which provide: A review of what is happening across the globe by offering examples from different regions; Preparation for teachers to support learners with a range of diverse needs including disability, poverty, ethnicity, gender, cultural diversity, learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, sensory impairments and those who are considered gifted and talented; A consideration of systemic approaches, policy, and partnerships, and how these can be better employed in the future. This highly topical text will support all teaching professionals, educational systems, and schools in their transformation of inclusive teacher education.

Book Elements of Artificial Neural Networks

Download or read book Elements of Artificial Neural Networks written by Kishan Mehrotra and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1997 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Elements of Artificial Neural Networks provides a clearly organized general introduction, focusing on a broad range of algorithms, for students and others who want to use neural networks rather than simply study them. The authors, who have been developing and team teaching the material in a one-semester course over the past six years, describe most of the basic neural network models (with several detailed solved examples) and discuss the rationale and advantages of the models, as well as their limitations. The approach is practical and open-minded and requires very little mathematical or technical background. Written from a computer science and statistics point of view, the text stresses links to contiguous fields and can easily serve as a first course for students in economics and management. The opening chapter sets the stage, presenting the basic concepts in a clear and objective way and tackling important -- yet rarely addressed -- questions related to the use of neural networks in practical situations. Subsequent chapters on supervised learning (single layer and multilayer networks), unsupervised learning, and associative models are structured around classes of problems to which networks can be applied. Applications are discussed along with the algorithms. A separate chapter takes up optimization methods. The most frequently used algorithms, such as backpropagation, are introduced early on, right after perceptrons, so that these can form the basis for initiating course projects. Algorithms published as late as 1995 are also included. All of the algorithms are presented using block-structured pseudo-code, and exercises are provided throughout. Software implementing many commonly used neural network algorithms is available at the book's website. Transparency masters, including abbreviated text and figures for the entire book, are available for instructors using the text.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Immigrant children and youth are the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population, and so their prospects bear heavily on the well-being of the country. Children of Immigrants represents some of the very best and most extensive research efforts to date on the circumstances, health, and development of children in immigrant families and the delivery of health and social services to these children and their families. This book presents new, detailed analyses of more than a dozen existing datasets that constitute a large share of the national system for monitoring the health and well-being of the U.S. population. Prior to these new analyses, few of these datasets had been used to assess the circumstances of children in immigrant families. The analyses enormously expand the available knowledge about the physical and mental health status and risk behaviors, educational experiences and outcomes, and socioeconomic and demographic circumstances of first- and second-generation immigrant children, compared with children with U.S.-born parents.

Book Dark Agents Book One

Download or read book Dark Agents Book One written by Janina Scarlet and published by New Harbinger Publications. This book was released on 2020-03-01 with total page 75 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This spellbinding graphic novel follows the adventures of Violet—a young witch whose parents were murdered when she was a child. As she wages war against necromancers and demons, Violet learns to overcome her internal monsters as well. In this groundbreaking comic book for teens and young adults, we meet Violet—a witch whose parents were murdered by an evil necromancer when she was only six years old. Running from country to country, as well as from herself, Violet never gets a chance to fully process her traumatic experience. When she turns 19, Violet begins training at the Underworld Intelligence Agency (UIA) in hopes of becoming a Dark Agent—someone tasked with keeping the balance between the world of the living and the world of the undead. During her training, Violet hopes to finally overcome her fear of death and take control of her emotions, but instead she finds that mindfulness, vulnerability, and acceptance are the skills most necessary to help her succeed. Blended seamlessly throughout the story are elements of a powerful and evidence-based treatment called acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Whether or not you’ve experienced a traumatic event like Violet, you’ll find valuable skills you can apply to your own life to help you conquer your demons and hone your unique superpowers. Note for therapists: Dark Agents presents the core skills of ACT in a fun, narrative format to appeal to teen readers. In this comic, teens will learn all about mindfulness, defusion, self-compassion, and values-based living. The book doesn't feel like a therapist recommendation—which is exactly what makes it perfect for your teen clients!
