Download or read book Pediatric Fitness written by Grant R. Tomkinson and published by Karger Medical and Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the years, there has been much controversy regarding whether today s children and adolescents are fitter than their peers of the past and whether they are fitter if they live in the more affluent than the less affluent countries. This publication starts by examining data cumulated since the late 1950s on secular trends and geographic variability in pediatric fitness test performances of children and adolescents from 23 countries in North America, Europe, Asia, Australasia, Africa and the Middle East. There is evidence that there has been a global decline in pediatric aerobic performance in recent decades, relative stability in anaerobic performance, and that the best performing children come from northern and central Europe. It finishes by considering possible causes, including whether declines in aerobic performance are the result of distributional or across-the-board declines, and whether increases in obesity alone can explain the declines in aerobic performance. Physical educators, exercise/sport scientists, exercise physiologists, personal trainers, pediatricians, medical practitioners and public health providers will find useful information in this book on secular trends and geographic variability in pedatric fitness.

Book Pathophysiology Homeostasis and Nursing

Download or read book Pathophysiology Homeostasis and Nursing written by Tonks Fawcett and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-06-03 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nursing students quite often find it difficult to relate what they learn with respect to normal and abnormal physiology to patient care. In this useful text Roger Watson and Tonks Fawcett clearly explain: * the concept of homeostasis * the relevance of physiology to common disorders * the patient's response to these disorders * the appropriate nursing response. Each chapter is presented in a standard format with a brief outline of the relevant normal physiology and how homeostatic mechanisms normally cope. The student is led to understand what the patient with a specific disorder feels like and why, and is clearly instructed in what nursing action to take. Pathophysiology, Homeostasis and Nursing shows clearly how understanding physiology can improve nursing care and covers the main issues that relate to basic observations. It includes questions to help the reader test their knowledge as they go along and provides an accessible concise text for health care students, particularly nurses.

Book Physical Education Health and Education Innovation

Download or read book Physical Education Health and Education Innovation written by Jorge Carlos-Vivas and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-10-10 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today's society demands to train children and adolescents who develop in an environment based on respect and the promotion of educational values. This aspect is especially relevant to promoting physical activity and its relationship with healthy habits, such as the consumption of unprocessed foods, the reduction of a sedentary lifestyle and the improvement of adherence to sports. In this sense, the World Health Organization warns that the current rates of overweight and obesity are very high and that we must combat them. From formal education, you can help improve healthy habits with educational programs and especially in Physical Education, a subject where the work of physical, social and cognitive well-being has special relevance. Since the 20th century, studies and research that have aimed to combat unhealthy habits in educational centres and sports schools have increased. Not only by promoting physical activity within the school, but above all by seeking to generate adherence towards the future of students and athletes.

Book Physical Education Initiatives for Early Childhood Learners

Download or read book Physical Education Initiatives for Early Childhood Learners written by Gil-Madrona, Pedro and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2021-04-02 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In early childhood education, children find in their own body and movement the main way to get in touch with the reality that surrounds them and, therefore, acquire knowledge about the environment in which they grow and develop. Undoubtedly, the progressive discovery of the body itself as a source of feelings and sensations, as well as exploring the different possibilities of action and bodily functions, constitutes necessary experiences on which children's thinking is built. Furthermore, the affective relationships established in psychomotor education situations, and particularly through play, are essential for the emotional development of children. Physical Education Initiatives for Early Childhood Learners offers globalized educational practices, didactic approaches, and proposals for intervention around motor development in the children ages 0-6 years. The book specifically explores laterality, coordination, relaxation, rhythm, etc. and how these are achieved through games, music, and motor stories. This book is ideal for early childhood educators, physical education teachers, administrators, daycares, preschools, early childhood learning centers, researchers, academicians, and students interested in physical education’s role in early child development.
