Book excerpt: Los textos sobre Derechos Humanos suelen dividirse entre los que adoptan una perspectiva teórica y los que prefieren un enfoque práctico, sin que sea habitual aunar ambos. Conscientes de este problema, los autores de esta obra han pretendido ofrecer un panorama de los Derechos Humanos que, partiendo de su problemático concepto, exponga los modos y las técnicas en que estos pueden ser mostrados en clave didáctica, de manera que puedan servir de base a reflexiones académicas y, en su caso, al activismo cívico en personas que solo tienen de ellos una vaga intuición. De ahí la necesidad de llevar a cabo una seria y bien trabada exposición histórico teórica de los Derechos Humanos, lo que permitirá tomar conciencia de las dificultades e incluso de las principales amenazas contra estos derechos características de los tiempos actuales. Y de ahí también la importancia reconocida a los instrumentos de protección internacional y las limitaciones que, de manera fatal, parecen asociadas a la construcción de una conciencia universal en favor de los Derechos Humanos. Esta obra bosqueja, además, un nuevo universo valorativo a través de la práctica pedagógica, sobre una ética de la responsabilidad narrativa capaz de construir un ciudadano comprometido con estos principios generales de convivencia pacífica que son los Derechos Humanos. No en vano, en aras de la coherencia, se insiste en que un derecho es siempre lo que es su garantía.
