Download or read book Eddy Current Nondestructive Evaluation written by Nicola Bowler and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-08-01 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the topic of eddy current nondestructive evaluation, the most commonly practiced method of electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation (NDE). It emphasizes a clear presentation of the concepts, laws and relationships of electricity and magnetism upon which eddy current inspection methods are founded. The chapters include material on signals obtained using many common eddy current probe types in various testing environments. Introductory mathematical and physical concepts in electromagnetism are introduced in sufficient detail and summarized in the Appendices for easy reference. Worked examples and simple calculations that can be done by hand are distributed throughout the text. These and more complex end-of-chapter examples and assignments are designed to impart a working knowledge of the connection between electromagnetic theory and the practical measurements described. The book is intended to equip readers with sufficient knowledge to optimize routine eddy current NDE inspections, or design new ones. It is useful for graduate engineers and scientists seeking a deeper understanding of electromagnetic methods of NDE than can be found in a guide for practitioners.

Download or read book Numerical Computation of Electric and Magnetic Fields written by Charles W. Steele and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For well over a decade, the numerical approach to field computation has been gaining progressively greater importance. Analytical methods of field compu tation are, at best, unable to accommodate the very wide variety of configura tions in which fields must be computed. On the other hand, numerical methods can accommodate many practical configurations that analytical methods cannot. With the advent of high-speed digital computers, numerical field computations have finally become practical. However, in order to implement numerical methods of field computation, we need algorithms, numerical methods, and mathematical tools that are largely quite different from those that have been traditionally used with analytical methods. Many of these algorithms have, in fact, been presented in the large number of papers that have been published on this subject in the last two decades. And to some of those who are already experienced in the art of numerical field computations, these papers, in addition to their own original work, are enough to give them the knowledge that they need to perform practical numerical field computations.

Download or read book Ultrasonic and Electromagnetic NDE for Structure and Material Characterization written by Tribikram Kundu and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2012-06-25 with total page 893 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most books on nondestructive evaluation (NDE) focus either on the theoretical background or on advanced applications. Bridging the gap between the two, Ultrasonic and Electromagnetic NDE for Structure and Material Characterization: Engineering and Biomedical Applications brings together the principles, equations, and applications of ultrasonic and electromagnetic NDE in a single, authoritative resource. This is also one of the first books to incorporate a number of popular NDE methods based on electromagnetic techniques. Combines Engineering and Biological Material Characterization Techniques in One Book The book begins with the relevant fundamentals of mechanics and electromagnetic theory, derives the basic equations, and then, step by step, covers state-of-the-art topics and applications of ultrasonic and electromagnetic NDE that are at the forefront of research. These include engineering, biological, and clinical applications such as structural health monitoring, acoustic microscopy, the characterization of biological cells, and terahertz imaging. Covers Numerous Applications of Ultrasonic and Electromagnetic Techniques—from the Traditional to the Advanced Written in plain language by some of the world’s leading experts, the book includes worked-out examples and exercises that make this an outstanding resource for coursework. The coverage of traditional and advanced NDE applications also appeals to practicing engineers and researchers.

Download or read book Aeronautical Applications of Non destructive Testing written by Abbas Fahr and published by DEStech Publications, Inc. This book was released on 2013-12-05 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprehensive guide to the basic principles and applications of non-destructive testing methods for aircraft system and components: airframe, propulsion, landing gear and more Provides detailed analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of major NDT methods Important for design, inspection, maintenance, repair, corrosion protection and safety This critical book is among the first to provide a detailed assessment of non-destructive testing methods for the many materials and thousands of parts in aircraft. It describes a wide variety of NDT techniques and explains their application in the evaluation and inspection of aerospace materials and components ranging from the entire airframe to systems and subsystems. At the same time the book offers guidance on the information derived from each NDT method and its relation to aircraft design, repair, maintenance and overall safety. The book covers basic principles, as well as practical details of instrumentation, procedures and operational results with a full discussion of each method's capabilities and limitations as these pertain to aircraft inspection and different types of materials, e.g., composites and metal alloys. Technologies covered include: optical and enhanced optical methods; liquid penetrant, replication and magnetic particle inspection; electromagnetic and eddy current approaches; acoustics and ultrasonic techniques; infrared thermal imaging; and radiographic methods. A final section is devoted to NDT reliability and ways the probability of detection can be measured to establish inspection intervals.
