  • Pages : 226 pages

Download or read book EA 6B Prowler Model written by Glenn Hoover and published by . This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains detailed instructions on building the Grumman EA-6B Prowler 1/48 scale model aircraft from Kinetic (Kit K48044). These instructions can also be used for kit K48022. In addition to the kit's instructions, there are several aftermarket kits. AM 48114 Wolfpack Radar & Avionics Resin kit, AM 48672 eduard Exterior photo etch, AM 48680 eduard Wing Fold photo etch, AM 48681 eduard Undercarriage photo etch, AM 48684 eduard Electronics Equipment Cage photo etch, AM 49519 eduard Interior photo etch, AM 49520 eduard Seatbelts photo etch. Can you imagine merging all of these instructions? Well, I've done that for you and more. I take the model kit instructions from Kinetic along with the eduard and Wolfpack AM sets and break them up into individual steps. The aftermarket steps are colored gray making them easy to skip if you just have the basic model. This book provides a little history of the EA-6B Prowler, a detailed list of tools that I used to build this model, along with a list of paints. The actual instruction section contains 1,178 steps and 163 plus figures over 226 pages that tell you what to dry fit, glue, and/or paint for each individual piece. Each step instruction shows the source (i.e., either Kinetic or AM) along with a block to mark that you completed the step. I provide an index of the individual sprue parts that show where in the book the part is mentioned. This index was a great way to make sure that no pieces were overlooked. Finally, there are several pages of in-process photos with assembly tips and the final photos of my build for reference. This book is a great checklist to make your build go smoothly. Of course, you can feel free to use different tools, paint, weathering, etc. or even add your own diorama. I hope you find this book useful. Book Ironclaw

Download or read book Ironclaw written by Sherman Baldwin and published by . This book was released on 2010-12 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Fast-paced, exciting and informative, with a realism and authenticity that this old carrier aviator has not seen in a long, long time." Admiral J. L. Holloway III, USN (Ret.), Chief of Naval Operations, 1974-78 A fine Tom Clancy-style account...From the start, the reader is in the cockpit. Kirkus Reviews The book that straps you into the cockpit of one of the world's most exhilarating and dangerous occupations. Slammed back into his ejection seat, catapulting from the heaving aircraft-carrier at 150 miles per hour in two seconds, he plunges into the darkness above the black waves. He is a rookie pilot on his first flight off the deck of the famed USS Midway, a "nugget" strapped in the electronics-crammed cockpit of one of the world's most expensive, sophisticated - and powerful - military machines. He is a member of the elite EA-6B Prowler squadron - call sign Ironclaw. And for Sherman Baldwin, a Yale grad turned navy carrier pilot on the eve of the Gulf War, the adventure has just begun. Here is the real world of military aviation - a world far more exciting than the depiction in bestselling novels and popular Hollywood films. Baldwin records in white-knuckled prose what it's really like to make the grade as a navy carrier pilot: the high-stakes, high-pressure world of piloting multimillion-dollar aircraft, precision flying through enemy fire over hostile territory, and zero-tolerance aircraft landings in the dead of night, when one miscalculation could result in a fatal crash. He also offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the humor and camaraderie that bind these special individuals together, characters with nicknames like "Beast," "Chief Rat," and "Simba." From the mission-planning room to chaotic action of the carrier deck to emergency midair refuelings and the outbreak of the Gulf War, Baldwin captures the G forces of the world's steepest and most dangerous learning curve.

Book F 105 Thunderchief Units of the Vietnam War

Download or read book F 105 Thunderchief Units of the Vietnam War written by Peter E. Davies and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2012-11-20 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Facing the most formidably concentrated air defences in history, pilots of the F-105D flew against North Vietnamese targets day after day during the 43 months of Operation Rolling Thunder. Despite its limited maneuverability and the lack of self-sealing fuel tanks, which made it susceptible to combat damage, the 'bombers' shot down 27 MiG fighters in 1966 – 67. This book illustrates the importance of the Thunderchief in the Rolling Thunder campaign, including the pioneering suppression of enemy air defences (SEAD) methods developed by the F-105 'Wild Weasel' crews. Discussing the aircraft's strengths and weaknesses and using first-hand narratives, Peter Davies captures the essence of flying the 'Thud' against heavy defences, and describes the development of wartime tactics and the heroic accomplishments of a selection of its aircrew.

Book F 8 Crusader Units of the Vietnam War

Download or read book F 8 Crusader Units of the Vietnam War written by Peter Mersky and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2012-11-20 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Known to its pilots as the 'last of the gunfighters' due to its quartet of Colt-Browning Mk 12 20 mm cannon, the F-8 Crusader was numerically the most populous fighter in the US Navy at the start of America's involvement in the Vietnam conflict in 1964 – some 482 F-8C/D/Es equipped 17 frontline units. It enjoyed great success against North Vietnamese Mig-17s and Mig-21s during the Rolling Thunder campaign of 1965-68, officially downing 18 jets, which represented 53 per cent of all Mig claims lodged by Navy squadrons during this period.

Book Naval Air War The Rolling Thunder Campaign

Download or read book Naval Air War The Rolling Thunder Campaign written by Norman Polmar and published by Government Printing Office. This book was released on 2016-01-05 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the sixth monograph in the series The U.S. Navy and the Vietnam War. It covers aircraft carrier activity during Operation Rolling Thunder in the war. Operation Rolling Thunder was one of the longest sustained aerial bombing campaigns in history. And it would be a failure. The U.S. Navy proved essential to the conduct of Rolling Thunder. Exploiting the inherent flexibility and mobility of naval forces, the Seventh Fleet operated with impunity for three years off the coast of North Vietnam. The success with which the Navy executed the later Operation Linebacker campaign against North Vietnam in 1972 revealed how much the service had learned from and exploited the Rolling Thunder experience of 1965–1968. The book includes several photographs with backgrounds of key aircraft used as part of Operation Rolliing Thunder during the Vietnam War. Book excerpt: Featuring the obscure, the unusual, the unbuilt and the unseen. The secret is out - Secret Projects is back. This is a new title in this highly acclaimed series, this time looking at concepts developed by the US aircraft industry in the years immediately prior to and during World War 2. This book includes and describes the major fighter and bomber proposals form the American aircraft industry which embrace various fighter and interceptor concepts, medium, heavy and intercontinental bombers, attack aircraft and anti-submarine aircraft, both for the USAF and US Navy. Particular emphasis is placed on 'Circular Proposals' - a system of submitting designs against requirements circulated around the industry by the Army Air Force in the 1930s and early 1940s. The illustrations show drawings and photographs of unbuilt designs merged with the history and photographs of real aeroplanes. Very little has been published previously about American projects from this time period and much of the material will not have been seen widely before. it will therefore be fascinating reading for all lovers of the previously highly successful 'Secret Projects' series and aviation historians.

Book The Pucar Story

Book excerpt: The Argentine designed and built IA-58 Pucará light attack aircraft was developed in the late 1960s in response to a requirement drawn up by the Fuerza Aérea Argentina (Argentine Air Force). After a long developmental period the design went into series production in 1974. The aircraft remains in active service to this day, with the FAA and with several foreign air forces. Best known for its involvement in the Malvinas conflict (Falklands war) in 1982, the Pucará remains an effective and much appreciated warplane. This book tells the full story of the design, development and operational use of the Pucará, including the many upgrades and redesigns tested and planned at various stages. Based on access to Argentine air force sources and archives, and discussions with serving and former Pucará crew, this is the first English-language book to describe this iconic aircraft in such detail. Fully illustrated with many photos, plans, and color profiles, this is an essential book for any aircraft enthusiast and historian.

Book A 10s Over Kosovo

  • Author : Phil M. Haun
  • Publisher : www.Militarybookshop.CompanyUK
  • Release : 2011
  • ISBN : 9781780392769
  • Pages : 368 pages

Download or read book A 10s Over Kosovo written by Phil M. Haun and published by www.Militarybookshop.CompanyUK. This book was released on 2011 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 2003. The NATO-led Operation Allied Force was fought in 1999 to stop Serb atrocities against ethnic Albanians in Kosovo. This war, as noted by the distinguished military historian John Keegan, "marked a real turning point . . . and proved that a war can be won by airpower alone." Colonels Haave and Haun have organized firsthand accounts of some of the people who provided that airpower-the members of the 40th Expeditionary Operations Group. Their descriptions-a new wingman's first combat sortie, a support officer's view of a fighter squadron relocation during combat, and a Sandy's leadership in finding and rescuing a downed F-117 pilot-provide the reader with a legitimate insight into an air war at the tactical level and the airpower that helped convince the Serbian president, Slobodan Milosevic, to capitulate.

Book A Pictorial History of the B 2A Spirit Stealth Bomber

Download or read book A Pictorial History of the B 2A Spirit Stealth Bomber written by Jim Goodall and published by Schiffer Military History. This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a pictorial history of Jack Northrop's dream, the B-2A Spirit, a low-observable, strategic, long-range, heavy bomber with the ability to penetrate sophisticated and dense enemy air-defense shields. It is capable of all-altitude attack missions up to 50,000 feet, with a range of more than 6,000 nautical miles (nm) unrefueled, and over 10,000 nm with one refueling, giving it the ability to fly to any point in the world within hours. Stealth technology has rendered radar systems ineffective by greatly reducing their detection ranges. After ten years of service, the B-2A finally achieved full operational capability in December 2003. An assessment published by the USAF showed that two B-2As armed with precision weaponry could do the job of seventy-five conventional aircraft.
