Book Dynamique non lin aire de l interaction onde particule dans le cas de spectres larges

Download or read book Dynamique non lin aire de l interaction onde particule dans le cas de spectres larges written by Brigitte Ragot and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LA THEORIE QUASI-LINEAIRE JUSTIFIE LA DIFFUSION DE PARTICULES CHARGEES DANS UN SPECTRE LARGE D'ONDES PAR UNE DECORRELATION DE LA DYNAMIQUE POUR DES TEMPS LONGS COMPARES AU TEMPS D'AUTOCORRELATION DU CHAMP. ELLE SUPPOSE AUSSI QUE LES MODES DU SPECTRE CROISSENT EXPONENTIELLEMENT AVEC LE TAUX DE CROISSANCE DE LANDAU. L'ETUDE DE LA DYNAMIQUE NON LINEAIRE DES PARTICULES PERMET D'ETABLIR, DANS LE CADRE DE L'INTERACTION ONDE-PARTICULE, UNE EQUATION D'EVOLUTION POUR UNE HARMONIQUE DU CHAMP, EXPLIQUANT LES CORRELATIONS DE MODES OBSERVEES EXPERIMENTALEMENT ET NUMERIQUEMENT. CETTE ETUDE MET EN EVIDENCE UN TEMPS ESSENTIEL A LA COMPREHENSION DES PHENOMENES PHYSIQUES: LE TEMPS NON LINEAIRE D'INTERACTION ONDE-PARTICULES NL PROPORTIONNEL A LA DENSITE SPECTRALE D'ENERGIE A LA PUISSANCE -1/3. C'EST LE TEMPS DE CORRELATION DE LA DYNAMIQUE. POUR DES TEMPS INFERIEURS, LES TRAJECTOIRES DES PARTICULES SUIVENT UN ENSEMBLE QUASI-FRACTAL DE DIMENSION 2, CE QUI DONNE UN COEFFICIENT DE DIFFUSION MALGRE UNE TRES FAIBLE SENSIBILITE AUX CONDITIONS INITIALES. POUR DES TEMPS LONGS COMPARES A TAU NL S'ETABLIT UN REGIME DE DIFFUSION PLUS CLASSIQUE, AVEC MELANGE DANS L'ESPACE DES PHASES. ET POUR DES PARAMETRES DE RECOUVREMENT DONNANT NUMERIQUEMENT DES ECARTS A LA QUASI-LINEARITE, LA VALEUR DU COEFFICIENT DE DIFFUSION EST RETROUVEE ANALYTIQUEMENT. LE COEFFICIENT DE DIFFUSION EST EGALEMENT EXPRIME EN FONCTION DU TAUX DE CROISSANCE SOUS FORME D'UNE RELATION INTEGRALE, FAISANT CLAIREMENT APPARAITRE L'INTERVALLE DE NOMBRES D'ONDE SUR LEQUEL LA FORMULE DE LA THEORIE QUASI-LINEAIRE DOIT ETRE INTEGREE. ENFIN, TOUS CES RESULTATS, INITIALEMENT ETABLIS POUR UN SPECTRE DE LANGMUIR UNIDIMENSIONNEL, SONT ETENDUS AU CAS DE MODES SIFFLEURS. INDEPENDAMMENT DE CETTE ETUDE EST AUSSI DEMONTREE LA SINGULARITE DES ECARTS A LA QUASI-LINEARITE DU MAPPING STANDARD, NON LIES AUX MODES BALISTIQUES DU SYSTEME, ET QUI PEUVENT ETRE RETROUVES PAR LE TEMPS DE TRANSIT MOYEN

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book constitutes the proceedings of the International Conference on Integrable Systems in memory of J.-L. Verdier. It was held on July 1-5, 1991 at the Centre International de Recherches Mathematiques (C.I.R.M.) at Luminy, near Marseille (France). This collection of articles, covering many aspects of the theory of integrable Hamiltonian systems, both finite and infinite-dimensional, with an emphasis on the algebro-geometric meth ods, is published here as a tribute to Verdier who had planned this confer ence before his death in 1989 and whose active involvement with this topic brought integrable systems to the fore as a subject for active research in France. The death of Verdier and his wife on August 25, 1989, in a car accident near their country house, was a shock to all of us who were acquainted with them, and was very deeply felt in the mathematics community. We knew of no better way to honor Verdier's memory than to proceed with both the School on Integrable Systems at the C.I.M.P.A. (Centre International de Mathematiques Pures et Appliquees in Nice), and the Conference on the same theme that was to follow it, as he himself had planned them.

Book Fields Medallists Lectures

Download or read book Fields Medallists Lectures written by Michael Atiyah and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1997-10-13 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the Fields Medal does not have the same public recognition as the Nobel Prizes, they share a similar intellectual standing. It is restricted to one field - that of mathematics - and an age limit of 40 has become an accepted tradition. Mathematics has in the main been interpreted as pure mathematics, and this is not so unreasonable since major contributions in some applied areas can be (and have been) recognized with Nobel Prizes. The restriction to 40 years is of marginal significance, since most mathematicians have made their mark long before this age.A list of Fields Medallists and their contributions provides a bird's eye view of mathematics over the past 60 years. It highlights the areas in which, at various times, greatest progress has been made. This volume does not pretend to be comprehensive, nor is it a historical document. On the other hand, it presents contributions from 22 Fields Medallists and so provides a highly interesting and varied picture. The contributions themselves represent the choice of the individual Medallists. In some cases the articles relate directly to the work for which the Fields Medals were awarded. In other cases new articles have been produced which relate to more current interests of the Medallists. This indicates that while Fields Medallists must be under 40 at the time of the award, their mathematical development goes well past this age. In fact the age limit of 40 was chosen so that young mathematicians would be encouraged in their future work. The Fields Medallists' Lectures is now available on CD-ROM. Sections can be accessed at the touch of a button, and similar topics grouped together using advanced keyword searches.

Book An Introduction To Plasmonics

Download or read book An Introduction To Plasmonics written by Olivier Pluchery and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2023-08-28 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is a plasmon? Is it a particle, like a photon or a wave? Plasmonics stands at the frontier of condensed matter physics, which is the world of electrons, optics and of photons. Plasmonics is one of the most active fields in nanophotonics. This book begins by exploring the concepts behind waves, and the electromagnetic description of light when it interacts with metals; it dedicates every chapter thereafter to all aspects of plasmonics. In particular, the surface plasmon polariton wave is explained in full detail, as well as the localized surface plasmon resonance of metallic nanoparticles. The active research area opened by plasmonics, as well as its applications, are also briefly explained, such as advanced biosensing, subwavelength waveguiding, quantum plasmonics, nanoparticle-based cancer therapies, optical nano-antenna and high-efficiency photovoltaic cells. The book is adapted for graduate students and places a special emphasis on providing complete explanations of the fundamental concepts of plasmonics. Further, each of these concepts is illustrated with examples drawn from the most recent scientific literature. Each chapter ends with a set of exercises that will help the reader revise the concepts and go deeper into the world of plasmonics. More than 70 exercises are included.

Book Quantum Theory of Finite Systems

Download or read book Quantum Theory of Finite Systems written by Jean-Paul Blaizot and published by Mit Press. This book was released on 1986 with total page 657 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive and pedagogical account of the various methods used in the quantum theory of finite systems, including molecular, atomic, nuclear, and particle phenomena. Covering both background material and advanced topics and including nearly 200 problems, Quantum Theory of Finite Systems has been designed to serve primarily as a text and will also prove useful as a reference in research. The first of the book's four parts introduces the basic mathematical apparatus: second quantization, canonical transformations, Wick theorems and the resulting diagram expansions, and oscillator models. The second part presents mean field approximations and the recently developed path integral methods for the quantization of collective modes. Part three develops perturbation theory in terms of both time-dependent Feynman diagrams and time-independent Goldstone diagrams. A fourth part discusses variational methods based on correlated wavefunctions, including spin correlations. The approximation schemes are formulated for fermions and bosons at eigher zero or non-zero temperature. Although the formalism developed applies to both finite and infinite systems, the book stresses those aspects of the theory that are specific to the description of finite systems. Thus special attention is given to mean field approximations, the ensuing broken symmetries, and the associated collective motions such as rotations. Conversely, some specific features of systems with infinite numbers of degrees of freedom (such as the thermodynamic limit, critical phenomena, and the elimination of ultraviolet divergencies) are deliberately omitted. Jean-Paul Blaizot and Georges Ripka are associated with the Centre d'Etudes Nucleaires de Saclay.
