Download or read book The AASHO Road Test written by and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The test facility and the AASHO road test pavement experiments conducted are fully presented and discussed. The behavior and performance of 18 slab and beam bridges under regular test traffic and during accelerated fatigue tests are described. Also reported is an analysis of the fatigue strength of the bridge beams. Field tests and laboratory tests on the fatigue strength of the steel bridges are compared. Tests to failure of the ten test bridges are described. The behavior during the test and under failure of a noncomposite steel bridge, composite steel bridge, reinforced concrete bridge, post-tension prestressed concrete bridge and a pretensioned prestressed concrete bridge is described in detail.
Download or read book Bridges Dynamics written by George T. Michaltsos Ioannis G. Raftoyiannis and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2012-07-09 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bridges’ Dynamics covers the historical review of research and introductory mathematical concepts related to the structural dynamics of bridges. The e-book explains the theory behind engineering aspects such as 1) dynamic loadings, 2) mathematical concepts (calculus elements of variations, the d’ Alembert principle, Lagrange’s equation, the Hamilton principle, the equations of Heilig, and the δ and H functions), 3) moving loads, 4) bridge support mechanics (one, two and three span beams), 5) Static systems under dynamic loading 6) aero-elasticity, 7) space problems (2D and 3D) and 8) absorb systems (equations governing the behavior of the bridge-absorber system). The e-book is a useful introductory textbook for civil engineers interested in the theory of bridge structures.

Download or read book Dynamic Impact Factors for Bridges written by David I. McLean and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 1998 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This synthesis will be of interest to state department of transportation and consulting bridge, structural, and research engineers. The synthesis describes the current state of the practice for determining dynamic impact factors for bridges. Information for the synthesis was collected by surveying U.S. and Canadian transportation agencies and by conducting a literature search using domestic and foreign sources. This report of the Transportation Research Board documents relevant background and recent information with regard to vehicular dynamic load effects on bridges. It provides details on the basic concepts of bridge dynamics, including identification of the main variables affecting bridge dynamic response. In addition, current code provisions for accounting for vehicular dynamic load effects for new bridge design and load evaluation of existing bridges are reported, including a discussion on the background of the provisions. Finally, a discussion of observed field problems associated with vehicular dynamic load effects, as obtained from the survey, are included.
