Book Dynamic Properties of Concrete Under Multi axial Loading

Download or read book Dynamic Properties of Concrete Under Multi axial Loading written by Dongming Yan and published by Nova Biomedical Books. This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Large-scale concrete structures, such as long-span bridges, hydraulic dams, and high-rise buildings, have increasingly been exposed to multi-hazard environments in recent years. Understanding the behaviour of concrete under earthquake and blast loads becomes more urgent and important in the design of these engineering structures. This book examines the research significance and measurement for the dynamic properties of concrete at high strain rates. The mechanical parameters of concrete under uniaxial dynamic loading conditions were obtained and compared with the static properties that have been widely used in design codes.

Book Understanding the Tensile Properties of Concrete

Download or read book Understanding the Tensile Properties of Concrete written by Jaap Weerheijm and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2024-03-01 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The response of concrete under tensile loading is crucial for most applications because concrete is much weaker in tension than in compression. Understanding the response mechanisms of concrete under tensile conditions is therefore key to understanding and using concrete in structural applications. Understanding the Tensile Properties of Concrete Second Edition summarises key recent research in this important subject area. After an introduction to concrete, the book is divided into two parts: part one on static response and part two on dynamic response. Part one starts with a summary chapter on the most important parameters that affect the tensile response of concrete. Chapters show how multi scale modelling is used to relate concrete composition to tensile properties. Part two focuses on dynamic response and starts with an introduction to the different regimes of dynamic loading, ranging from the low frequency loading by wind or earthquakes up to the extreme dynamic conditions due to explosions and ballistic impacts. Following chapters review dynamic testing techniques and devices that deal with the various regimes of dynamic loading. Later chapters highlight the dynamic behaviour of concrete from different viewpoints, and the book ends with a chapter on practical examples of how detailed knowledge on tensile properties is used by engineers in structural applications. Drawing on the work of some of the leading experts in the field, the book is fully updated and will be a valuable reference for civil and structural engineers as well as those researching this important material. Book Dynamic Properties of Mass Concrete

Download or read book Dynamic Properties of Mass Concrete written by Kenneth L. Saucier and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this study was to determine the tensile strength, cyclical behavior, and stress-strain relationships for concrete under loading conditions (1-10 Hz) such as could be produced by an earthquake. Dynamic direct tensile tests and stress-reversal tests were conducted on core samples from two concrete mixtures representative of mass concrete. Test procedures were developed for cyclical loading and loading to failure in 0.25 to 0.025 sec which represent one-fourth of a cycle having a frequency of 1 to 10 Hz. Stress-strain measurements were made on selected specimens. The procedures used could be modified to become American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) test methods for direct-tensile and stress-reversal tests of rock. The tests indicated that there was no significant difference in tensile strength determined statically or dynamically on dry specimens. A 30 percent increase in strength was indicated for wet specimens tested dynamically. Very little hysteresis was evident in the tensile stress-strain curves. The results should be useful in studies conducted to determine the earthquake resistance of mass-concrete structures.

Book Dynamic Mechanical Behaviors and Constitutive Model of Roller Compacted Concrete

Download or read book Dynamic Mechanical Behaviors and Constitutive Model of Roller Compacted Concrete written by Sherong Zhang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-01 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book systematically illustrates the dynamic mechanical behaviors and discusses the fundamentals of the constitutive modeling of roller-compacted concrete (RCC), influenced by the construction technique and mix design. Four typical problems are analyzed using laboratory tests, numerical simulation and theoretical analysis, i.e., to illustrate the special dynamic mechanical behaviors of RCC, to reveal the dynamic size-dependence of mechanical properties, to discuss the aggregate size effect on dynamic mechanical properties, and to modify the dynamic constitutive model for RCC. Generally, the constitutive modeling of RCC needs a comprehensive understanding of dynamic size-dependence and aggregate size effect of concrete that coupled with the strain-rate sensitivity. So that, readers can master the modified dynamic constitutive model of RCC to analyze and solve the problems in blast-resistance analysis and protective design of RCC dams. This book can be used as a postgraduate textbook for civil and hydraulic engineering in colleges and universities, and as an elective course for senior undergraduates. It can also be used as a reference for relevant professional scientific researchers and engineers in field of protective design of concrete structures.

Book A Comparison Between the Compressive Strength and the Dynamic Properties of Concrete as a Function of Time

Download or read book A Comparison Between the Compressive Strength and the Dynamic Properties of Concrete as a Function of Time written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study was to examine and compare the correlation between the compressive strength of a mass concrete mix and that concrete's dynamic properties, specifically, shear wave velocity. Several methods, including static and dynamic tests, were used to determine the concrete's physical properties of compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, both static and dynamic, and shear wave velocity. It has been found that, for the specific concrete analyzed, there is a correlation between the compressive strength and dynamic properties as well as a correlation between the static and dynamic moduli. The data found in this study shows that dynamic properties of this concrete mix can be determined and obtained through the use of standard tests and attainment of adequate compressive strength, respectively.
