Book Rigid Perfectly Plastic Analysis of Ring Stiffened Shells Under Dynamic Loading

Download or read book Rigid Perfectly Plastic Analysis of Ring Stiffened Shells Under Dynamic Loading written by Minos Moussouros and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report treats the case of a long ring-stiffened circular cylindrical shell made of rigid-perfectly plastic material. The approximate Tresca square is used as yield surface with the corresponding associated flow rule. The shell is subjected to an external axisymmetric dynamic overpressure of rectangular form. Maximum permanent deformations are obtained. This report is the first step towards an ongoing effort to obtain a closed form or a relatively simple numerical solution to the problem of a ring-stiffened, circular cylindrical shell subjected to a dynamic pressure load. Maximum permanent deflections after load removal are obtained. The analytical solution of the dynamic problem, even under substantial simplifying assumptions, can be very complex and cumbersome. In this report, we rederive and extend the analytical solutions obtained by Hodge. Considerable simplification can be achieved if we are content with numerical treatment of the governing equations on the computer. (aw).

Book Strain Energy Expressions of Rings of Rectangular T and I Section Suitable for the Dynamic Analysis of Ring Stiffened Cylindrical Shells

Download or read book Strain Energy Expressions of Rings of Rectangular T and I Section Suitable for the Dynamic Analysis of Ring Stiffened Cylindrical Shells written by Hans H. Bleich and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strain energy expressions are obtained for rings of rectangular, T- and I- section. The expressions are intended for use in the dynamic analysis of ring stiffened cylindrical shells. The approach is essentially a generalization of the conventional, approximate analysis of straight beams, i.e. the influence of shear stresses, and of direct stresses at right angles to the axis of the beams is neglected. Book Design Aids for Stiffened Composite Shells with Cutouts

Download or read book Design Aids for Stiffened Composite Shells with Cutouts written by Sarmila Sahoo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-16 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the free vibrations of graphite-epoxy laminated composite stiffened shells with cutout both in terms of the natural frequencies and mode shapes. The dynamic analysis of shell structures, which may have complex geometry and arbitrary loading and boundary conditions, is solved efficiently by the finite element method, even including cutouts in shells. The results may be readily used by practicing engineers dealing with stiffened composite shells with cutouts. Several shell forms viz. cylindrical shell, hypar shell, conoidal shell, spherical shell, saddle shell, hyperbolic paraboloidal shell and elliptic paraboloidal shell are considered in the book. The dynamic characteristics of stiffened composite shells with cutout are described in terms of the natural frequency and mode shapes. The size of the cutouts and their positions with respect to the shell centre are varied for different edge constraints of cross-ply and angle-ply laminated composite shells. The effects of these parametric variations on the fundamental frequencies and mode shapes are considered in detail. The information regarding the behavior of stiffened shells with cutouts for a wide spectrum of eccentricity and boundary conditions for cross ply and angle ply shells may be used as design aids for structural engineers. The book is a significant contribution to the existing literature from the point of view of both industrial importance and academic interest.

Book Dynamics of Submerged Cylindrical Shells with Eccentric Stiffening Revised

Download or read book Dynamics of Submerged Cylindrical Shells with Eccentric Stiffening Revised written by Kerry Kier-Ten Chu and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theoretical analysis is presented for treating the free vibrations of submerged, ring stiffened cylindrical shells with simply supported ends. The effects of the eccentric stiffeners are averaged over the thin-walled isotropic cylindrical shell. The energy method is utilized and the frequency equation is derived by Hamilton's Principle. All three degrees of freedom are considered. Numerical results are presented for frequencies for several cases of interest. (Author).

Book Computerized buckling analysis of shells

Download or read book Computerized buckling analysis of shells written by D. Bushnell and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1985-09-30 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the work performed by Lockheed Palo Alto Research Labora tory, Palo Alto, California 94304. The work was sponsored by Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Bolling AFB, Washington, D. C. under Grant F49620-77-C-0l22 and by the Flight Dynamics Laboratory, Air Force Wright Aeronautical Laboratories, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio under Contract F3361S-76-C-31OS. The work was completed under Task 2307Nl, "Basic Research in Behavior of Metallic and Composite Components of Airframe Structures". The work was admini stered by Lt. Col. J. D. Morgan (AFOSR) and Dr. N. S. Khot (AFWAL/FIBRA). The contract work was performed between October 1977 and December 1980. The technical report was released by the Author in December 1981. Preface Many structures are assembled from parts which are thin. For example, a stiffened plate or cylindrical panel is composed of a sheet the thickness of which is small com pared to its length, breadth, and stiffener- spacing, and stiffeners the thickness of which is small compared to their _ heights and lengths. These assembled structures, loaded in compression, can buckle overall, that is sheet and stiffeners can collapse together in a general instability mode; the sheet can buckle locally between stiffeners; the stiffeners can cripple; and a variety of complex buckling interactions can occur involving local and overall deformations of both sheet and stiffeners. More complex, built-up structures can buckle in more complex and subtle ways.
