Book Modern Predictive Control

Download or read book Modern Predictive Control written by Ding Baocang and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern Predictive Control explains how MPC differs from other control methods in its implementation of a control action. Most importantly, MPC provides the flexibility to act while optimizing—which is essential to the solution of many engineering problems in complex plants, where exact modeling is impossible. The superiority of MPC is in its numerical solution. Usually, MPC is employed to solve a finite-horizon optimal control problem at each sampling instant and obtain control actions for both the present time and a future period. However, only the current control move is applied to the plant. This complete, step-by-step exploration of various approaches to MPC: Introduces basic concepts of systems, modeling, and predictive control, detailing development from classical MPC to synthesis approaches Explores use of Model Algorithmic Control (MAC), Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC), Generalized Predictive Control (GPC), and Two-Step Model Predictive Control Identifies important general approaches to synthesis Discusses open-loop and closed-loop optimization in synthesis approaches Covers output feedback synthesis approaches with and without a finite switching horizon This book gives researchers a variety of models for use with one- and two-step control. The author clearly explains the variations between predictive control methods—and the root of these differences—to illustrate that there is no one ideal MPC and that one should remain open to selecting the best possible model in each unique circumstance.

Book Non linear Elliptic Equations in Conformal Geometry

Download or read book Non linear Elliptic Equations in Conformal Geometry written by Sun-Yung A. Chang and published by European Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2004 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Non-linear elliptic partial differential equations are an important tool in the study of Riemannian metrics in differential geometry, in particular for problems concerning the conformal change of metrics in Riemannian geometry. In recent years the role played by the second order semi-linear elliptic equations in the study of Gaussian curvature and scalar curvature has been extended to a family of fully non-linear elliptic equations associated with other symmetric functions of the Ricci tensor. A case of particular interest is the second symmetric function of the Ricci tensor in dimension four closely related to the Pfaffian. In these lectures, starting from the background material, the author reviews the problem of prescribing Gaussian curvature on compact surfaces. She then develops the analytic tools (e.g., higher order conformal invariant operators, Sobolev inequalities, blow-up analysis) in order to solve a fully nonlinear equation in prescribing the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet integrand on compact manifolds of dimension four. The material is suitable for graduate students and research mathematicians interested in geometry, topology, and differential equations.

Book Quantum Field Theory

Download or read book Quantum Field Theory written by Robert Geroch and published by Minkowski Institute Press. This book was released on 2013-02-28 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comprises Robert Geroch's course notes on quantum field theory. Although written in 1971 Geroch's lecture notes are still a very helpful text on quantum field theory since they contain a concise exposition of its core topics accompanied by compressed but deep and clear explanations. What also makes this book a valuable contribution to the existing textbooks on quantum field theory is Geroch's unique approach to teaching theoretical and mathematical physics - the physical concepts and the mathematics, which describes them, are masterfully intertwined in such a way that both reinforce each other to facilitate the understanding of even the most abstract and subtle issues.
