Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An angel, a demon and a love-wary teenager walk into a cemetery... Aiden Fisher hates Valentine's Day with a passion saved only for holidays and annoying public displays of affection. He's spent his teenage life trying to be as unapproachable as possible even if his cute face has heads turning. This Valentine's Day he finds he's failed his goal; a secret admirer wants to meet him. Aiden has a lot of reasons to avoid love at all costs, many he can't seem to remember when he's approached by two foreign, beautiful boys that say they're destined to meet. He tries to avoid the alarming feelings welling up, but when they're attacked and he brings his new friends home, there's nowhere to run. Trying to hide as much of his embarrassing home life as he can from these quirky winged boys, Aiden finds himself faced with a choice. Does he wants to suffer in love or suffer alone? Disclaimer: This slightly dark, sweet novella contains explicit m/m sexual content between multiple partners, graphic language, first time experiences, and hot winged boys and a pretty punked out bottom in a committed threesome relationship. Made specifically for Valentine's Day, beware of sappiness, sarcasm, angst, and plot. All sexually active characters are 18+. www.sadiesinsbooks.com

Book Cupid Painted Blind

Download or read book Cupid Painted Blind written by Marcus Herzig and published by Marcus Herzig. This book was released on 2016-10-21 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few things are more exciting and, frankly, unnerving than your first day of high school. Except, maybe, coming out to your friends when they already kinda knew you were gay. Or finding out that the breathtakingly handsome guy you’ve just met is best buddies with your archnemesis who happens to be a homophobic bully. Or being teamed up for a school assignment with that decidedly unattractive, facially-deformed, freaky-looking weirdo who hasn’t got a friend in the world. Or all of the above. Matthew Dunstan, closeted freshman, future bestselling author, and frequently blushing teenager is on a quest to find himself, find love, and live happily ever after. Sounds easy enough, right? But when the opportunities for failure are endless, it doesn’t take much to turn your life upside down. And that’s not exactly what you need when you try to catch someone’s eye without attracting everyone’s attention. Cupid Painted Blind is a heartbreaking, heartwarming, and occasionally hilarious roller coaster ride through an awkward freshman’s first few weeks of high school that will appeal to readers of all ages who enjoy Young Adult LGBTQ fiction.

Book Not If I See You First

Download or read book Not If I See You First written by Eric Lindstrom and published by Poppy. This book was released on 2015-12-01 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the tradition of Gayle Forman and John Green comes this extraordinary YA debut about a blind teen girl navigating life and love in high school. Parker Grant doesn't need 20/20 vision to see right through you. That's why she created the Rules: Don't treat her any differently just because she's blind, and never take advantage. There will be no second chances. Just ask Scott Kilpatrick, the boy who broke her heart. When Scott suddenly reappears in her life after being gone for years, Parker knows there's only one way to react—shun him so hard it hurts. She has enough on her mind already, like trying out for the track team (that's right, her eyes don't work but her legs still do), doling out tough-love advice to her painfully naive classmates, and giving herself gold stars for every day she hasn't cried since her dad's death three months ago. But avoiding her past quickly proves impossible, and the more Parker learns about what really happened—both with Scott, and her dad—the more she starts to question if things are always as they seem. Maybe, just maybe, some Rules are meant to be broken. Debut author Eric Lindstrom's Not If I See You First combines a fiercely engaging voice with true heart.

Book Ode to the Front End Vol 2

Download or read book Ode to the Front End Vol 2 written by Charles Ford and published by Gatekeeper Press. This book was released on 2023-04-26 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is somewhat unique. I am not the author although it was written through me . He is the author not me. Why I ended up being the one to be used by Him remains a complete baffling mystery. I am simply His humble steward in this process. Everyone living in America recognizes Home Depot. They are a staple. It is a poem containing 2,500 quatrains that contain life as a part time cashier in a small Home Depot store. It is not always easy reading but it has appeal and value for anyone willing to read it. What are the takeaways? For me the greatest takeaway is humility. The people portrayed in thsi writing are far superior to me. I am not worthy to be the proverbial gum on their shoe. Their trust and friendship provided me is more valuable than gold from Ophir. They live very difficult lives in an extraordinary manner. They never had a level playing filed. they must climb Mt Everest each day. There is humor, pathos and at times Upton Sinclair type muckraking all mixed into the writing. The work shows the good and the bad of life, work and in some ways America today.

Book English Resultatives

Download or read book English Resultatives written by Seizi Iwata and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2020-03-15 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this book is to develop a force-recipient account of English resultatives. Within this approach the post-verbal NP is a recipient of a verbal force, whether it is a subcategorized object or not, and the verbal force being exerted onto the post-verbal NP is responsible for bringing about the change as specified by the result phrase. It is shown that many apparent puzzles posed by English resultatives are due to the complex interplay between the verb meaning and the constructional meaning, or between the verb meaning and the semantics of the result phrase. Thus the proposed account can provide answers to the question “Which resultatives are possible and which are not?” in a coherent way. Also, the proposed account reveals that English resultatives are not a monolithic phenomenon, and that some “resultatives” cited in the literature as such are not resultatives at all. This book is of interest not only to practitioners of Construction Grammar but also to everyone interested in English resultatives.

Download or read book Small Blessings written by Martha Woodroof and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2014-08-12 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Tom Putnam, an English professor at a Virginia women's college, has resigned himself to a quiet and half-fulfilled life. For more than ten years, his wife Marjory has been a shut-in, a fragile and frigid woman whose neuroses have left her fully dependent on Tom and his formidable mother-in-law, Agnes Tattle. Tom considers his unhappy condition self-inflicted, since Marjory's condition was exacerbated by her discovery of Tom's brief and misguided affair with a visiting poetess. But when Tom and Marjory meet Rose Callahan, the campus bookstore's charming new hire, and Marjory invites Rose to dinner, her first social interaction in a decade, Tom wonders if it's a sign that change is on the horizon. And when Tom returns home that evening to a letter from the poetess telling him that he'd fathered her son, Henry, and that Henry, now ten, will arrive by train in a few days, it's clear change is coming whether Tom's ready or not. For readers of Helen Simonson and Anna Quindlen, Small Blessings is funny, heart-warming and poignant, with a charmingly imperfect cast of cinema-ready characters. Readers will fall in love with the novel's wonderfully optimistic heart that reminds us that sometimes, when it feels like life is veering irrevocably off track, the track changes in ways we never could have imagined"--

Book excerpt: “Absolutely charming... a flawless balance of humor, heat, sweetness, and depth, and I loved every page.” – Helen Hoang, USA Today bestselling author of The Bride Test USA TODAY BESTSELLER A witty, hilarious romantic comedy about a woman who’s tired of being “boring” and recruits her mysterious, sexy neighbor to help her experience new things—perfect for fans of Sally Thorne, Jasmine Guillory, and Helen Hoang! Chloe Brown is a chronically ill computer geek with a goal, a plan, and a list. After almost—but not quite—dying, she’s come up with seven directives to help her “Get a Life”, and she’s already completed the first: finally moving out of her glamorous family’s mansion. The next items? Enjoy a drunken night out. Ride a motorcycle. Go camping. Have meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex. Travel the world with nothing but hand luggage. And... do something bad. But it’s not easy being bad, even when you’ve written step-by-step guidelines on how to do it correctly. What Chloe needs is a teacher, and she knows just the man for the job. Redford ‘Red’ Morgan is a handyman with tattoos, a motorcycle, and more sex appeal than ten-thousand Hollywood heartthrobs. He’s also an artist who paints at night and hides his work in the light of day, which Chloe knows because she spies on him occasionally. Just the teeniest, tiniest bit. But when she enlists Red in her mission to rebel, she learns things about him that no spy session could teach her. Like why he clearly resents Chloe’s wealthy background. And why he never shows his art to anyone. And what really lies beneath his rough exterior… "This is an extraordinary book, full of love, generosity, kindness and sharp humor." — The New York Times Book Review *Featured on the TODAY Show! Book excerpt: Brenna There are some people in life who know exactly how to push your buttons. For me, it’s Rye Peterson. We can’t spend more than ten minutes together before we’re at each other’s throats, which makes working together that much harder. Rye is the bassist for Kill John, the biggest rock band in the world, and I am his publicist. It doesn’t help that the man is gorgeous, funny, talented, and…never takes anything seriously. Avoidance is key. But everything changes when he overhears something he shouldn’t: a confession made in a moment of weakness. Now the man I’ve tried so hard to ignore is offering me the greatest temptation of all—him. Rye Brenna James is the one. The one I can’t have. The one I can’t get out of my mind. Believe me, I’ve tried; the woman loathes me. I managed well enough—until I heard her say she’s as lonely as I am. That she needed to be touched, held, satisfied. And I could no longer deny the truth: I wanted to be the one to give her what she craved. I convinced her that it would just be sex, mutual satisfaction with nothing deeper. But the moment I have her, she becomes my world. I’ve never given her a good reason to trust me before. Now, I’ve got to show Brenna that we’re so much better together than we ever were apart. Things are going to get messy. But getting messy with Brenna is what I do best.
