And in the long run, it is superior because people learn how to change their lives rather than rely on chemicals to change their thoughts and behavior. Cognitive-behavioral therapy has been shown to actually change the chemistry of the brain! In my books, I take this further and deeper than what most of you have experienced in your therapy or what you have discovered in your reading. This book has a unique purpose, to help you learn how to interpret any situation, any triggering event that you are blaming for your emotional difficulties. I take hundreds of happenings, events that you tend to blame for your present feelings and show you that when you change your interpretation and action, you can change your feelings. Too often people believe that EVENTS = EMOTION. Their emotional state is the result of bad things happening to them. This kind of thinking, however, is totally wrong and will keep you bound in the prison of your emotional state, locked up and forever longing for joy and peace. But you have learned the lie of the above formula and that there is another formula based on truth. Remember the formula: EVENT + INTERPRETATION + ACTION = EMOTION The problem is this; most of us have developed bad habits of thinking. We tend to blame the event for our emotional state rather than our interpretations and actions of that event. So we seek to change the event instead of changing the way we interpret that event. Learning how to reframe our thoughts - those destructive interpretations that are causing our emotional pain and flipping them to thoughts that bring about peace and joy, is our goal. If you have read my books (Dr. Paul's TOTAL Relief books) and worked through my workbooks you know what I am talking about. But you may need some further help. This book is designed to be that special aid to teach you how to reframe any situation, any triggering event that you may be tempted to blame for your emotional pain.
