Book Christology A Dogmatic Treatise on the Incarnation

Download or read book Christology A Dogmatic Treatise on the Incarnation written by Rev. Joseph Pohle Ph. D. D.D. and published by Aeterna Press. This book was released on with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In treating of God as the Author of Nature and the Supernatural, we showed how the harmony of angelic as well as human nature was seriously disturbed by sin. For some reason not revealed to us the fallen angels were beyond redemption. St. Thomas thinks that, as they were pure spirits, once they had determined upon evil, their free will became unalterably fixed therein. Other divines hold that the fallen angels were unable to undo their choice because the decision they had made terminated the status viae. Aeterna Press

Book God His Knowability Essence and Attributes A Dogmatic Treatise

Download or read book God His Knowability Essence and Attributes A Dogmatic Treatise written by Rev. Joseph Pohle Ph. D. D. and published by Aeterna Press. This book was released on with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here below man can know God only by analogy; hence we are constrained to apply to Him the three scientific questions: An sit, Quid sit, and Qualis sit, that is to say: Does He exist? What is His Essence? and What are His qualities or attributes? Consequently in theology, as in philosophy, the existence, essence, and attributes of God must form the three chief heads of investigation. The theological treatment differs from the philosophical in that it considers the subject in the light of supernatural Revelation, which builds upon and at the same time confirms, supplements, and deepens the conclusions of unaided human reason. Since the theological question regarding the existence of God resolves itself into the query: Can we know God?—the treatise De Deo Uno naturally falls into three parts: (1) The knowability of God; (2) His essence; and (3) The divine properties or attributes. Book Truth Is a Synthesis Catholic Dogmatic Theology

Download or read book Truth Is a Synthesis Catholic Dogmatic Theology written by Mauro Gagliardi and published by Emmaus Academic. This book was released on 2020-08-06 with total page 804 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In everyday parlance, synthesis is synonymous with short. Here, Mauro Gagliardi uses synthesis as it has been applied to the Hypostatic Union in Christ: the “Synthetic Union” of the two natures in one Person. All of dogmatic theology is presented from this et-et (both-and), Christocentric approach in Truth is a Synthesis: Catholic Dogmatic Theology. The volume presents for beginners a comprehensive, organic view of the Catholic faith. Truth is a Synthesis spotlights, in a respectful yet clear way, the different views about Christian Dogmatics held by our separated brethren, both Protestant and Orthodox. As he explores the implications of the et-et nature of theology, Gagliardi reveals the underlying unity of both Fundamental and Dogmatic theology “Professor Gagliardi’s book is in every way a magnum opus, both from the qualitative and the quantitative standpoint.”—Cardinal Gerhard L. Müller

Book A Neighborhood Divided

Download or read book A Neighborhood Divided written by Jane Balin and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2018-10-18 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a nursing facility for AIDS patients is planned for a city neighborhood, residents might be expected to respond, "Not in my backyard." But, as Jane Balin recounts in A Neighborhood Divided, when that community is known for its racial and ethnic diversity and liberal attitudes, public reaction becomes less predictable and in many ways more important to comprehend. An ethnographer who spent two years talking with inhabitants of a progressive neighborhood facing this prospect, Jane Balin demonstrates that the controversy divided residents in surprising ways. She discovered that those most strongly opposed to the facility lived furthest away, that families with young children were evenly represented in the two camps, and that African Americans followed a Jewish community leader in opposing the home while dismissing their own minister's support of it. By viewing each side sympathetically and allowing participants to express their true feelings about AIDS, the author invites readers to recognize their own anxieties over this sensitive issue. Balin's insightful work stresses the importance of uncovering the ideologies and fears of middle-class Americans in order to understand the range of responses that AIDS has provoked in our society. Its ethnographic approach expands the parameters of NIMBY research, offering a clearer picture of the multi-faceted anxieties that drive responses to AIDS at both the local and national levels.
