Each major weapon system is required to be supported by a Product Support Manager (PSM), whose responsibilities include developing and implementing a comprehensive product support strategy for the system. This report examines (1) the steps, if any, that DOD and the military services have taken to implement PSMs for major weapon systems; and (2) the extent to which DOD has evaluated the effects, if any, that PSMs are having on life-cycle sustainment decisions for their assigned systems.
