Book Apples of Gold in Pictures of Silver

Download or read book Apples of Gold in Pictures of Silver written by Dave Herr and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-10-24 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maybe some people study prophecy for the thrill of the sensational, like adrenaline addicts chasing the next sky-dive rush. Certainly, promises given hundreds or thousands of years before their fulfillments are remarkable. However, sensationalism is not the intended purpose. And some people may think that prophecy is an ancillary, nonessential part of theology. But the premise of this book is that God-given prophecy has a far more profound purpose than sensationalism and plays an essential, inseparable part in the gospel message. Now if faith in Christ is all that is necessary for salvation, why is prophecy essential? The angel messenger who gave the Revelation to John answered that question. The angel told John, "These are the true sayings of God." Then John fell at the feet of the angel to worship him. The angel responded, "See you do it not, for I am your fellow servant and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy" (Rev. 19:10). The angel explained that all prophecy connects to Jesus. Intrinsic to Jesus is prophecy, as is all scripture. That which predicts or speaks of His divine and human nature, His life and miracles, His death and resurrection, and His earthly and heavenly kingdom are all interconnected--they are all a part of His story, His testimony, His person. Therefore, Christ is the unspoken basis for this specific blessing given to readers of the Revelation: "Blessed are they that read and hear the words of this prophecy and keep those things which are written in it, for the time is at hand" (Rev. 1:3). Though there is rich reward in every book of the Bible, no other gives the aforementioned promise of blessing.

Book The Causes of the Rebellion in Ireland Disclosed

Download or read book The Causes of the Rebellion in Ireland Disclosed written by Anonymous and published by Good Press. This book was released on 2019-12-19 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Causes of the Rebellion in Ireland Disclosed by an anonymous author is about the Irish rebellion of 1798. The Irish Rebellion of 1798 was a major uprising against British rule in Ireland. The main organizing force was the Society of United Irishmen, a republican revolutionary group influenced by the ideas of the American and French revolutions. Excerpt: "It is always a bold undertaking in a private individual to become the advocate of a suffering people. It is peculiarly difficult at the present moment to be the advocate of the people of Ireland, because there are among them men who have taken the power of redress into their own hands and committed acts of outrage and rebellion which no sufferings could justify, and which can only tend to aggravate ten-fold the other calamities of their country. Deeply impressed, however, as I am with a conviction that these difficulties stand in my way, I shall yet venture to state to Englishmen the case of Ireland. In doing so, I rest not on vain confidence in my strength, but on the nature of the cause I plead..."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the global financial crisis, the need to develop a new kind of economy with a closer relation between ethics and economics has become an important challenge to the international society. This book contributes to this debate by investigating different aspects of global business ethics and corporate social responsibility which are becoming more and more important in the ongoing discussions on the relation between market institutions and democratic governments. The different chapters of the book deal with fundamental philosophical issues of the ethics of the market economy, including discussions of the role of the social sciences and economics in contributing to a sustainable economics and global responsibility in the twenty-first century. In this sense, the book takes up the transnational debate on ethics and economics in order to contribute to a more balanced, fair, just and conscientious development in the world. The book starts with a European perspective on these issues, based on philosophical, sociological and economic views from Europe. These views are further developed in order to share thoughts of how to improve corporate social responsibility, welfare and justice, and the advancement of ethical principles in the international context. It is argued that in the international community, good corporate citizenship as social and environmental responsibility is realized through individual and organizational cosmopolitan responsibility for fostering the common good for humanity. The chapters of the book were originally presented at a conference in Copenhagen, organized together with the German Cultural Institute - the Goethe Institute of Copenhagen, Copenhagen Business School and Roskilde University, Denmark.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tricia and her brother, Shaun Morrissey, recovering from the tragic loss of their parents in an auto accident a couple of years earlier, undergo a period of turmoil in their previously placid lives in London. The turmoil is initiated by Tricia’s trip to the Himalayan mountain region in India, specifically to the mountain top temple of Kedarnath, at an elevation of 12,000 feet, where she suffered an event of memory lapse, possibly caused by inhalation of cannabis. Having returned to London and submitted herself to counseling by her psychotherapist, she is contacted by the newlyweds, Kris and Susan Hamsun, from Washington DC, claiming to know both—what caused the event and the way to emerge from it. Having convinced both Tricia and her skeptical brother, Shaun, as to the veracity of his claim, Kris, assisted by his Norwegian buddy, Jurgen, and other associates from his own treasure-hunting adventure, train and assist the duo in the successful recovery of the treasure. Post the successful task completion, Tricia is then advised to seek out the remaining 6 companions and similarly assist them in executing their treasure recovery task. While undertaking this transformation, Tricia makes her first contact with one companion, based on guidance received from the Dalai Lama and a Buddhist sage.
