Download or read book Beyond Portraiture written by Bryan Peterson and published by Amphoto Books. This book was released on 2011-03-16 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Great portraits go beyond a mere record of a face. They reveal one of the millions of intimate human moments that make up a life. In Beyond Portraiture, renowned photographer Bryan Peterson shows how to spot those “ah-ha!” moments and capture them forever. A teary child...old people laughing together...a smiling girl with big, big hair. Everyone remember pictures like these, usually taken by a mother, a father, a friend holding a camera, forever preserving small yet revealing vignettes of our personal histories. But we always relied on pure luck and chance to catch those moments. Peterson’s approach explains what makes a photo memorable, how to spot the universal themes that everyone can identify with, and how to use lighting, setting, and exposure to reveal the wonder and the joy of everyday moments. Beyond Portraiture makes it easy to create indelible memories with light and shadow.
Download or read book Digital image processing written by H.-H. Nagel and published by Springer. This book was released on 1977-04 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since several years, methods and entire systems have been developped to evaluate digitized picture data from rather different problem areas such as medicine, geological and earth resource investigations, sa tellite applications, and industrial automation to name but a few. As is to be expected, methodical approaches are usually first published in the context of the special application for which they have been de velopped. To intensify the exchange of know-how regarding the various methods across the boundaries of special application areas, the Technical Com mittee 6 of the Gesellschaft fur Informatik in cooperation with the Technical Committee 6 of the Nachrichtentechnische Gesellschaft in the VDE have organized a conference on Digitized Image Processing at Munich, March 28-30, 1977, the proceedings of which are presented in this v- ume. It is a pleasure to thank my colleagues J. Bodechtel, MUnchen R. Dierstein, Oberpfaffenhofen Th. Einsele, MUnchen P. Heintzen, Kiel H. Kazmierczak, Karlsruhe A. Schief, Karlsruhe J. SchUrmann, Ulm for their willingness to offer their time and cooperation under some what stringent boundary conditions in selecting the program for this conference. My special thanks are due to Prof. Bodechtel for his or ganizational effort to host the conference at his institute. May I mention that Munich with its world renown treasures of paintings provides the opportunity to experience some individual picture process ing of a kind which in my opinion is worth the effort even it is not digital.
Download or read book Empirical Multimodality Research written by Jana Pflaeging and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2021-11-08 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume advances the data-based study of multimodal artefacts and performances by showcasing methods and results from the latest endeavors in empirical multimodal research, representing a vibrant international and interdisciplinary research community. The collated chapters identify and seek to inspire novel, mixed-method approaches to investigate meaning-making mechanisms in current communicative artifacts, designs, and contexts; while attending to their immersive, aesthetic, and ideological dimensions. Each contribution details innovative aspects of empirical multimodality research, offering insights into challenges evolving from quantitative approaches, particular corpus work, results from eye-tracking and psychological experiments, and analyses of dynamic interactive experiences. The approaches and results presented foreground the inherent multidisciplinary nature and implications of multimodality, renegotiating concepts across linguistics, media studies, (social) semiotics, game studies, and design. With this, the volume will inform both current and future developments in theory, methods, and transdisciplinary contexts and become a landmark reference for anyone interested in the empirical study of multimodality.

Download or read book Law and Images written by Thomas Dreier and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2019-08-26 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Law and images are generally not regarded as having much in common, since law is based on textual and images are based on visual information. The paper demonstrates that quite to the contrary, legal norms can be understood as models of intended moral behaviour and hence as images, in the same way as images can be said to have a normative and hence regulatory effect. Following an interdisciplinary approach along the lines of cultural research, the paper explains how images “function” to lawyers and how the law “works” to those trained in the visual sciences. In addition, laying the foundations for a research field “Law and Images” in parallel to the well-established “Law and Literature”, the paper describes the main avenues for future research in this field. Also, the paper contains a brief systematization of images in law, of law and for law.
