Book Nonelliptic Partial Differential Equations

Download or read book Nonelliptic Partial Differential Equations written by David S. Tartakoff and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-07-26 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a very readable description of a technique, developed by the author years ago but as current as ever, for proving that solutions to certain (non-elliptic) partial differential equations only have real analytic solutions when the data are real analytic (locally). The technique is completely elementary but relies on a construction, a kind of a non-commutative power series, to localize the analysis of high powers of derivatives in the so-called bad direction. It is hoped that this work will permit a far greater audience of researchers to come to a deep understanding of this technique and its power and flexibility.

Book Degenerate Stochastic Differential Equations and Hypoellipticity

Download or read book Degenerate Stochastic Differential Equations and Hypoellipticity written by Denis Bell and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1996-05-15 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main theme of this Monograph is the study of degenerate stochastic differential equations, considered as transformations of the Wiener measure, and their relationship with partial differential equations. The book contains an elementary derivation of Malliavin's integration by parts formula, a proof of the probabilistic form of Hormander's theorem, an extension of Hormander's theorem for infinitely degenerate differential operators, and criteria for the regularity of measures induced by stochastic hereditary-delay equations.

Book Nonlinear Eigenvalues and Analytic Hypoellipticity

Download or read book Nonlinear Eigenvalues and Analytic Hypoellipticity written by Ching-Chau Yu and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1998 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores the failure of analytic-hypoellipticity of two partial differential operators. The operators are sums of squares of real analytic vector fields and satisfy Hormander's condition. By reducing to an ordinary differential operator, the author shows the existence of non-linear eigenvalues, which is used to disprove analytic- hypoellipticity of the original operators. No index. Book Hypoelliptic Estimates and Spectral Theory for Fokker Planck Operators and Witten Laplacians

Download or read book Hypoelliptic Estimates and Spectral Theory for Fokker Planck Operators and Witten Laplacians written by Francis Nier and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-02-11 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has recently been a renewal of interest in Fokker-Planck operators, motivated by problems in statistical physics, in kinetic equations, and differential geometry. Compared to more standard problems in the spectral theory of partial differential operators, those operators are not self-adjoint and only hypoelliptic. The aim of the analysis is to give, as generally as possible, an accurate qualitative and quantitative description of the exponential return to the thermodynamical equilibrium. While exploring and improving recent results in this direction, this volume proposes a review of known techniques on: the hypoellipticity of polynomial of vector fields and its global counterpart, the global Weyl-Hörmander pseudo-differential calculus, the spectral theory of non-self-adjoint operators, the semi-classical analysis of Schrödinger-type operators, the Witten complexes, and the Morse inequalities.

Book Partial Differential Equations

Download or read book Partial Differential Equations written by Todor V. Gramchev and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 2000-02-22 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The applications of methods from microlocal analysis for PDE have been a fast developing area during the last years. The authors, both are well known in the community, publish for the first time some of their research results in a summarized form. The essential point of the approach is the use of the various types of approximate (asymptotic) solutions in the study of differential equations in the smooth and the Gevrey spaces. In this volume, the authors deal with the following themes: Microlocal properties of pseudodifferential operators with multiple characteristics of involutive type in the framework of the Sobolev spaces; Abstract schemes for constructing approximate solutions to linear partial differential equations with characteristics of constant multiplicity m greater than or equal 2 in the framework of Gevrey spaces; Local solvability, hypoellipticity and singular solutions in Gevrey spaces; Global Gevrey solvability on the torus for linear partial differential equations; Applications of asymptotic methods for local (non)solvability for quasihomogeneous operators; Applications of Airy asymptotic solutions to degenerate oblique derivative problems for second order strictly hyperbolic equations; Approximate Gevrey normal forms of analytic involutions and analytic glancing hypersurfaces with applications for effective stability estimates for billiard ball maps.
