Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Cook For Your Life written by Ann Ogden Gaffney and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2015-09-29 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2016 James Beard Award nominee and 2016 Books For A Better Life Award winner A beautiful, unique cookbook with delicious recipes for all stages of cancer treatment and recovery, from a two-time cancer survivor and founder of the Cook for Your Life nutrition-based cooking programs. Cook for Your Life is a one-of-a-kind cookbook for those whose lives are touched by cancer, organized by the patient’s needs. Self-taught home cook and two-time cancer survivor Ann Ogden Gaffney discovered during her months of treatment for breast cancer that she was able to find powerful relief for her symptoms through cooking. Realizing that other patients and families could benefit from the skills and techniques she’d learned, she began to offer advice, recipes, and free classes to fellow patients. A former fashion consultant, Gaffney realized after her treatment that her heart was no longer in seasonal colors and hemline trends. Instead, she wanted to help people with cancer and their families cook and care for themselves. In 2007,the nonprofit organization Cook for Your Life was born. Its programs have received funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and have been embraced by organizations such as Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, Mount Sinai Health System, Atlantic Health System Cancer Care, the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in New York City, and more. Cook for Your Life has touched hundreds of thousands of lives. Now Gaffney delivers her very first highly anticipated cookbook, based on Cook for Your Life’s classes. So many cancer cookbooks are too complicated to follow for someone going through the treatment, or too clinical and uninspired to encourage anyone with compromised taste buds to enjoy. This is the first cookbook to organize the recipes into categories according to the way patients feel and their needs in the moment—for example, “Simple” recipes when the patient is fatigued, “Safe” recipes when a patient’s immune system is compromised, and “Spicy” recipes when a patient is feeling better and needs to wake up her taste buds. With its warmth, authority, beautiful design, and smartly conceived format, Cook for Your Life empowers patients and families to cook their way back to health.

The single most important health measurement is the pH level in your blood. Now, The pH Miracle unlocks the surprisingly crucial role pH balance plays in weight loss. How acidic or alkaline your blood is (pH levels) directly affects your health and is controlled by diet. For example, if the blood becomes overly acidic from eating too much of the wrong kinds of food -- wheat, bananas, meats, and cheese -- it can lead to weight gain, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and more. The Youngs' program includes over 50 recipes and explains which foods to eat, which to avoid, and which supplements can help on the way towards optimal health and weight loss. Book The Settlement of the Chonos Archipelago Western Patagonia Chile

Download or read book The Settlement of the Chonos Archipelago Western Patagonia Chile written by Omar Reyes and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-19 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes an archaeological investigation of human occupation in the northern area of the Patagonian archipelago in the far south of South America. It is of global anthropological and archaeological interest, dealing as it does with an archipelago characterised by a maze of islands, fiords, channels, volcanoes and continental glaciers, in an area which is still very sparsely inhabited with only scattered settlements. It was one of the last parts of the continent to be populated by man, with the arrival of marine hunter-gatherer-fishers. The arrival of human beings in this area, and their subsistence strategies in varied environments, constitute a new example of man's ability to adapt over the course of his history. It is also of interest to document how humans overcome some biogeographical barriers to occupy territories, and how other kinds of barrier restrict movement and access to other regions, leaving certain human groups isolated. Two hunter-gatherer traditions, one marine and one pedestrian, with very different cultural development processes, coexisted in this part of Patagonia separated by less than 100 km of mountains, volcanoes and glaciers. There is no evidence of contact between them over their whole time sequence; on the contrary, the archaeological and bioanthropological evidence indicates two independent axes of movement: one used by canoe groups along the Pacific coast and the other by pedestrian groups in the interior of the continent east of the Andes.

Download or read book Alkaline Plant Based Diet written by Aqiyl Aniys and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-10-17 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alkaline Plant Based Diet is my book The God-Awakening Diet, revised. This new edition titled Alkaline Plant Based Diet is re-branded to better identify what the book is about. It also includes some minor revisions to content for a more user-friendly experience. An alkaline plant based diet is instrumental in supporting health and vitality, reversing disease, and protecting the earth's ecosystem. It optimally supports a slightly alkaline pH level in the blood, which is the equilibrium point for the health of all the organs in the body. Consuming acidifying meat, dairy, and processed foods causes the body to rely on buffering systems to keep the blood's pH around 7.4. The body then strips alkaline material from bones and tissues to put into the bloodstream when the buffering systems are overwhelmed. This compromises the health of organs and allows for the proliferation of pathogens and toxins. The global assimilation of the Western diet, which is centered on the consumption of meat, dairy, and processed foods, supports industrial processes that compromise the natural life supporting patterns of the earth's ecosystem, and supports the proliferation of disease in the body and in the earth. Diets centered on the consumption of meat, dairy, and processed foods are the catalyst of the inhumane treatment of animals, deforestation, land erosion, depletion of fresh water, and intensified climate change. The mechanisms employed to satisfy the demand for meat, dairy, and processed foods severely compromise the natural patterns that support all life on earth.

Book The Acid Alkaline Diet for Optimum Health

Download or read book The Acid Alkaline Diet for Optimum Health written by Christopher Vasey and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2006-07-10 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With more than 50,000 first-edition copies sold, this expanded second edition provides the latest information on restoring your body’s acid-alkaline balance • Discusses the role of enzyme supplements, prebiotic and probiotic complexes, and antioxidants in neutralizing and eliminating acids • Addresses the relationship of proper hydration to essential enzyme activity and acid elimination • Outlines a sample alkaline detoxification diet Most people consume an abundance of highly processed foods that acidify the body. As a result, they are afflicted with health problems ranging from minor skin irritations, chronic fatigue, back pain, and depression to arthritis, ulcers, and osteoporosis. To enjoy optimum health, the body needs balanced quantities of alkaline and acid substances. In The Acid-Alkaline Diet for Optimum Health, naturopath and detoxification expert Christopher Vasey shows how a simple change in diet to restore your acid-alkaline balance can result in vast improvements in health. With two new chapters, this updated and expanded second edition provides the latest information on proper hydration and deacidification, important alkalizing supplements, and how to eliminate the body’s accumulated acids through intestinal cleansing. It also includes a new, detailed example of an alkaline detoxifying diet. Rather than organizing alkaline and acid foods based on their chemical composition, Vasey categorizes foods by their effect on the body, explaining that some foods, such as fruits, can have either an alkalizing or an acidifying effect, depending on who eats them. He describes how to determine your acid levels and how to design a diet best suited for your particular health needs.

Book The Explicitation Interview

Download or read book The Explicitation Interview written by Pierre Vermersch and published by Explicitation Interview. This book was released on 2007-07 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was first published in French in 1994. It has been a training support to numerous researchers as well as practitioners, such as teachers, health workers, personal or sport trainers. Since then, it has constantly been republished and a glossary has been added in 1998. This version is the first complete edition of the book in English. The main idea of this new interview technique is to help a teacher, a supervisor or a researcher to guide the student, the practitioner or the subject to give a fine retrospective description of an action. As it is only the subject that has access to this mental or physical action, the goal is to help the subject with the verbalization, putting the implicit knowledge of this action in words. Yet, to achieve this verbalization, we need guidance, because we don't know how to give such a description ourselves. If we leave the interviewee without guidance, he risks remaining in the implicit, speaking in a general way, or in an incomplete or imprecise way, commenting instead of describing. The explicit and precise description we aim is the opposite of the implicit, meaning a fine, detailed and complete way of putting the action in words. The final aim is to elucidate what the subject did to seek his goal

This is where the Ocean Challenge Badge comes in: let it take you on a journey to discover the ocean! It is packed with activities to help you learn about how the ocean works, the creatures that live in it, and just how important it is in our everyday lives. You will also discover how YOU can play a role in protecting our ocean for future generations. We hope you will be inspired to take the challenge and celebrate our ocean.
