Book Interpretationen einer gemeinsamen Welt Von der Antike bis zur Moderne Festschrift f r Jure Zovko

Download or read book Interpretationen einer gemeinsamen Welt Von der Antike bis zur Moderne Festschrift f r Jure Zovko written by Evandro Agazzi and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. In their contributions - dedicated to the Croatian philosopher Jure Zovko - on the philosophy of antiquity, German Idealism and the 20th century, as well as on hermeneutics, the theory of knowledge and science, metaphysics and the philosophy of religion, the twenty-two authors unfold philosophy as the interpretation of a common world. In the process, it becomes clear that philosophy, even in the diversity of its voices, ultimately always remains one, just as the world as a point of reference for human action and thought is only one, which we share with each other and which we have to recognise and preserve.

Download or read book Philosophy of Revelation written by Herman Bavinck and published by Hendrickson Publishers. This book was released on 2018-01-01 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dutch theologian Herman Bavinck (1854-1921) is widely celebrated as one of the top theologians in the Reformed tradition, and through the ongoing labor of translation teams, editors, and publishers, his vast writings are being offered anew to English-only readers. This book brings the groundbreaking framework of Bavinck's "organic motif" to the fore in one of Bavinck's most influential works. In the best sense of the title, the modern, yet orthodox Bavinck offers readers here both a philosophy of revelation and a philosophy of revelation. Philosophy of Revelation was originally presented by Bavinck at the Stone Lectures at Princeton Theological Seminary in 1908, that by itself deserves being published. This classic text is updated and annotated and may function as a supreme entry into the mind of Bavinck. Bavinck saw theology as the task of "thinking God's thoughts after him and tracing their unity." This project can be seen as "thinking Bavinck's thoughts after him and tracing their unity." Chapters include: - The Idea of a Philosophy of Revelation - Revelation and Philosophy - Revelation and Nature - Revelation and History - Revelation and Religion - Revelation and Christianity - Revelation and Religious Experience - Revelation and Culture - Revelation and the Future Author Bio Cory Brock is the assistant Pastor at First Presbyterian in Jackson, Mississippi. Cory holds a PhD in Systematic Theology from the University of Edinburgh. Editor currently resides in Jackson, Mississippi. Nathaniel Gray Sutanto (PhD, University of Edinburgh) is an elder and theologian at Covenant City Church (Jakarta, Indonesia), and an adjunct lecturer at Westminster Theological Seminary (PA). His recent writings have appeared in the Harvard Theological Review and the Scottish Journal of Theology. Editor currently resides in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Book Hinter den Bergen eine andere Welt

Download or read book Hinter den Bergen eine andere Welt written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2016-08-09 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Jahrhunderts.

Book The War in Our Backyard

Download or read book The War in Our Backyard written by Margit V. Wunsch Gaarmann and published by Neofelis Verlag. This book was released on 2015-02-18 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The War in Our Backyard is a novel study of the German press' textual and visual coverage of the wars in Bosnia (1992–1995) and Kosovo (1998–1999). Key moments from both wars have been selected and analysed using a broad range of publications reaching from far-right to far-left and including broadsheets, a tabloid and a news magazine. Two sections with parallel chapters form the core of the book: the first part dealing with the war in Bosnia and the second with Kosovo. Each section contains one chapter on the initial phase of the conflict, one chapter on an important atrocity – namely the Srebrenica Massacre in Bosnia and the Račak incident in Kosovo – and, lastly, a chapter each on the international involvement which ended the immediate violence. The book examines how the various events were covered, what sources were used and what insights these examples of the German press conveyed. Special attention has been paid to four key themes, which emerged from the research. Firstly, the changing perceptions of the Serbian President Slobodan Miloševic and the issue of who was to blame for the conflicts; secondly, how various armed forces, including the Yugoslav Peoples' Army and the Kosovo Liberation Army were presented in the German press; thirdly, the persistent presence of the Second World War and the Holocaust in the coverage of the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo and how they shaped the press' interpretation of the violence; and lastly, how Germany's role in the Balkans – both in the realms of diplomacy and military intervention – was evaluated by the national press. Pictures and cartoons accompanying the textual coverage have been included to present a more rounded picture of press coverage.

Book Kafka s Stereoscopes

Download or read book Kafka s Stereoscopes written by Isak Winkel Holm and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2019-09-19 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1911, Franz Kafka encountered the Kaiser Panorama: a stereoscopic peep show offering an illusion of three-dimensional depth. After the experience, he began to emulate the apparatus in his literary sketches, developing a style we might call "stereoscopic," juxtaposing, like the optical stereoscope, two images of the same object seen from slightly different perspectives. Isak Winkel Holm argues that Kafka's stereoscopic style is crucial to an understanding of the relation between literature and politics in Kafka's work. At the level of content, the stereoscopic style offers a representation of the basic order of a specific community. At the level of form, the stereoscopic style is structured as the juxtaposition of two dissimilar images of the same community. At the level of function, finally, the style provokes a reconsideration, and perhaps even a reconfiguration, of the social order itself. With insights from literary studies, philosophical aesthetics and political theory, Kafka's Stereoscopes offers a detailed but highly readable argument for the relevance of Kafka's literary works in today's political reality.

Book Jacob B hme in Three Worlds

Download or read book Jacob B hme in Three Worlds written by Lucinda Martin and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2023-12-18 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jacob Böhme (1575–1624) has been recognized as one of the internationally most influential German authors of the Early Modern period. Even today, his writings continue to impact fields as diverse as literature, philosophy, religion and art. Yet Böhme and his reception remain understudied. As a lay author, his works were often suppressed and circulated underground. Borrowing Böhme’s idea of “three worlds” or planes of existence, this volume traces the transmission of his thought through three stations: from his first underground readers in Central and Eastern Europe, to the Netherlands, where most of his writings were first published, to Britain, where early translations made him a popular author for generations to come. Drawing on the work of both established and younger researchers from around the world, this volume charts new territory. It fills many lacunae and reveals a number of exciting discoveries, especially regarding the production and diffusion of manuscripts and previously overlooked sites of engagement. This book will be of interest to a wide range of scholars interested in the development of philosophical, religious, literary and artistic thought from the 17th century to the present day.
