Book The God Theory

  • Pages : 218 pages

Download or read book The God Theory written by Bernard Haisch and published by ReadHowYouWant.com. This book was released on 2011-05-14 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As science integrates the in-depth knowledge of the physical world accumulated over the past three centuries, it will be channeled into a new and exciting line of inquiry that acknowledges the expanded reality of consciousness as a creative force in the universe and the spiritual creative power embodied in our own minds. This book summarizes the thoughts of an inquisitive, but open-minded, scientist. What I present here is a theory that looks promising, not scientific proof. It should not be surprising, however, if some of what I propose coincides with theories propounded by others who claim a more intimate relationship with the Almighty. After all, if I am on the right track, and if they are, it would be worrisome if we were not, ultimately, in agreement. All I ask is that you seriously consider the logic of my theory, especially if it challenges you to question what you were taught - in Sunday school, in catechism or, dare I say, in physics class. I offer this book, not as a theological treatise, but as a short, readable exposition of a worldview that can bring sense and purpose into individual lives, and tolerance and peace to a planet whose future is in serious jeopardy - in large part because of the irrational dogmatism of both religion and science. If I am correct, we are literally all one being (God) in many individual forms. Why, then, would we continue to harm one another?

Book Against Hermogenes

    Book Details:
  • Author : Tertullian
  • Publisher : OrthodoxEbooks
  • Release : 2018-08-19
  • ISBN : 9781643731001
  • Pages : 68 pages

Download or read book Against Hermogenes written by Tertullian and published by OrthodoxEbooks. This book was released on 2018-08-19 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The doctrine of Hermogenes has this taint of novelty. He is, in short, a man living in the world at the present time; by his very nature a heretic, and turbulent withal, who mistakes loquacity for eloquence, and supposes impudence to be firmness, and judges it to be the duty of a good conscience to speak ill of individuals. Moreover, he despises God's law in his painting, maintaining repeated marriages, alleges the law of God in defense of lust, and yet despises it in respect of his art. He falsifies by a twofold process--with his cautery and his pen. He is a thorough adulterer, both doctrinally and carnally, since he is rank indeed with the contagion of your marriage hacks, and has also failed in cleaving to the rule of faith as much as the apostle's own Hermogenes. However, never mind the man, when it is his doctrine which I question. He does not appear to acknowledge any other Christ as Lord, though he holds Him in a different way; but by this difference in his faith he really makes Him another being, --nay, he takes from Him everything which is God, since he will not have it that He made all things of nothing. For, turning away from Christians to the philosophers, from the Church to the Academy and the Porch, he learned there from the Stoics how to place Matter (on the same level) with the Lord, just as if it too had existed ever both unborn and unmade, having no beginning at all nor end, out of which, according to him, the Lord afterwards created all things.

Now in its second edition, A Defence of the Bible answers the common arguments used against Christianity and the Bible, including detailed responses to four major misconceptions: That Christianity is "just another religion" That science through the Theory of Evolution can explain our existence without the need for God That the Bible is merely a collection of ancient myths and is full of mistakes That Jesus Christ, if he ever existed, was merely a good man and was not God. A Defence of the Bible is published in large-format paperback, consisting of 182 full color pages with 185 images and 565 footnotes. Comments on the first edition: I just wanted to write you a quick note to say that I have just finished reading your book. It was absolutely incredible! I am sure I will refer to it again and again. I am especially excited about sharing it with one of my work colleagues. He is very interested in biblical evidence. Your book has come at just the right time and I do not believe in 'coincidences.' This has God's fingerprints all over it! Thanks so much again Gary. You may never know (this side of heaven) what kind of eternal impact your research and teaching has had on people. I realize that you give all of the credit and glory to Christ, but I truly believe that (name of colleague) and several other seekers of the Truth will still be thanking you 10,000 years from now for the role you played in their journey toward_Christ. Randy McFarland, Indiana, USA Gary, thank you so much for the book. It is explicitly well researched, meticulously documented with colour pictures, pithy (no waffle), interesting and easy to understand. Bob McGregor-Skinner, NSW, Australia Before I read "A Defence of the Bible," I already believed that the Bible was the true and accurate Word of God, but I also knew that I couldn't completely persuade an unbeliever of that fact. I dreaded the thought of being challenged - I simply couldn't produce any reliable outside evidence. Studying "A Defence of the Bible" changed the situation entirely. Dr Baxter has made the material in this book both meaningful and memorable, presenting it in a clear and powerful way. As I read chapter after chapter of real, irrefutable evidence, God used this book not only to strengthen my own faith but also to prepare me to share that faith with others. I'm praying that He will use it to bless many others. Sarah Tesch, Victoria, Australi As an evangelist, I have encouraged many people to read this book and to utilise it as a resource to answer the hard questions many people put to them. A new Christian, whom I showed this book to last night, was thrilled when he saw it and began telling me how it would help him and assist in his witness to unbelieving friends and family. James Hood - Evangelist, USA Thank you so very much for this wonderful book! We are very pleased to show it to anyone who visits our home and appreciates the research and hard work it entailed to complete such a work. Virg and I leave it on our coffee table so we can read it anytime and discuss all the fascinating facts. It's quite a testimony to everyone about our Lord and His word, our Bible. Susan Jacobelli, Toronto, Canada You are a blessing and I appreciate how God is using your passion for Him to help educate and support other Christians. It is becoming more and more important to put into the hands of believers the answers to some of the questions that are being asked about creation, Jesus and religions. Thank you for what you have done in putting together your book. Steven Maldoff, Pastor, Murray River Baptist Church, Australia

Book The God Who Is There

    Book Details:
  • Author : D. A. Carson
  • Publisher : Baker Books
  • Release : 2010-07-01
  • ISBN : 1441213856
  • Pages : 240 pages

Download or read book The God Who Is There written by D. A. Carson and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2010-07-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It can no longer be assumed that most people--or even most Christians--have a basic understanding of the Bible. Many don't know the difference between the Old and New Testament, and even the more well-known biblical figures are often misunderstood. It is getting harder to talk about Jesus accurately and compellingly because listeners have no proper context with which to understand God's story of redemption. In this basic introduction to faith, D. A. Carson takes seekers, new Christians, and small groups through the big story of Scripture. He helps readers to know what they believe and why they believe it. The companion leader's guide helps evangelistic study groups, small groups, and Sunday school classes make the best use of this book in group settings.

Book Seven Days That Divide the World

Download or read book Seven Days That Divide the World written by John C. Lennox and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2011-08-23 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What did the writer of Genesis mean by “the first day”? Is it a literal week or a series of time periods? If I believe that the earth is 4.5 billion years old, am I denying the authority of Scripture? In response to the continuing controversy over the interpretation of the creation narrative in Genesis, John Lennox proposes a succinct method of reading and interpreting the first chapters of Genesis without discounting either science or Scripture. With examples from history, a brief but thorough exploration of the major interpretations, and a look into the particular significance of the creation of human beings, Lennox suggests that Christians can heed modern scientific knowledge while staying faithful to the biblical narrative. He moves beyond a simple response to the controversy, insisting that Genesis teaches us far more about the God of Jesus Christ and about God’s intention for creation than it does about the age of the earth. With this book, Lennox offers a careful yet accessible introduction to a scientifically-savvy, theologically-astute, and Scripturally faithful interpretation of Genesis.

Book Why Science Does Not Disprove God

Download or read book Why Science Does Not Disprove God written by Amir D. Aczel and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2014-04-15 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The renowned science writer, mathematician, and bestselling author of Fermat's Last Theorem masterfully refutes the overreaching claims the "New Atheists," providing millions of educated believers with a clear, engaging explanation of what science really says, how there's still much space for the Divine in the universe, and why faith in both God and empirical science are not mutually exclusive. A highly publicized coterie of scientists and thinkers, including Richard Dawkins, the late Christopher Hitchens, and Lawrence Krauss, have vehemently contended that breakthroughs in modern science have disproven the existence of God, asserting that we must accept that the creation of the universe came out of nothing, that religion is evil, that evolution fully explains the dazzling complexity of life, and more. In this much-needed book, science journalist Amir Aczel profoundly disagrees and conclusively demonstrates that science has not, as yet, provided any definitive proof refuting the existence of God. Why Science Does Not Disprove God is his brilliant and incisive analyses of the theories and findings of such titans as Albert Einstein, Roger Penrose, Alan Guth, and Charles Darwin, all of whose major breakthroughs leave open the possibility— and even the strong likelihood—of a Creator. Bolstering his argument, Aczel lucidly discourses on arcane aspects of physics to reveal how quantum theory, the anthropic principle, the fine-tuned dance of protons and quarks, the existence of anti-matter and the theory of parallel universes, also fail to disprove God.

Book Cold Case Christianity

  • Author : J. Warner Wallace
  • Publisher : David C Cook
  • Release : 2013-01-01
  • ISBN : 1434705463
  • Pages : 288 pages

Download or read book Cold Case Christianity written by J. Warner Wallace and published by David C Cook. This book was released on 2013-01-01 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold-Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator. Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity. A unique apologetic that speaks to readers’ intense interest in detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity inspires readers to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity.
