Book Did God Choose Me A Study on Biblical Election

Download or read book Did God Choose Me A Study on Biblical Election written by Steven D. Rhodes and published by BookLocker.com, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-04-20 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a Bible study on biblical election (God's choosing of His believers). It is a study dealing with people's choices in light of God's choices and sovereignty. Many questions arise from this subject: Do I exercise my will, or is everything predetermined? Do I have a "free" will? How does God's sovereignty really work? Am I just a puppet with God pulling the strings? Can I truly love God if my will isn't really "free"? How does God's "foreknowledge" apply to my salvation? How much involvement do I really have in my own salvation? These are difficult questions to be sure. We can observe the Bible dealing with this subject from two very different perspectives: The horizontal perspective: Mankind's perspectives and actions. The exercising of people's will and choices as they participate in life and relationships around them. The vertical perspective: God's perspective and actions, outside of people's perceptions. It requires God revealing these things in His Word for us to know about them. The book deals with the obvious occurrence of people exercising their wills (which is observable - the horizontal perspective). It also looks at what the Bible reveals to us about what God may be doing behind the scenes (which cannot be observed - the vertical perspective). Even though a few illustrations and analogies are included, this book relies heavily on the topic as dealt with from the pages of the Word of God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nearly 200,000 copies sold! Chosen by God by Dr. R. C. Sproul is a contemporary classic on predestination, a doctrine that isn’t just for Calvinists. It is a doctrine for all biblical Christians. In this updated and expanded edition of Chosen by God, Sproul shows that the doctrine of predestination doesn’t create a whimsical or spiteful picture of God, but rather paints a portrait of a loving God who provides redemption for radically corrupt humans. We choose God because he has opened our eyes to see his beauty; we love him because he first loved us. There is mystery in God’s ways, but not contradiction.

  • ISBN : 1585581534

Download or read book Willing to Believe written by R. C. Sproul and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2002-04-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the role of the will in believing the good news of the gospel? Why is there so much controversy over free will throughout church history? R. C. Sproul finds that Christians have often been influenced by pagan views of the human will that deny the effects of Adam's fall. In Willing to Believe, Sproul traces the free-will controversy from its formal beginning in the fifth century, with the writings of Augustine and Pelagius, to the present. Readers will gain understanding into the nuances separating the views of Protestants and Catholics, Calvinists and Arminians, and Reformed and Dispensationalists. This book, like Sproul's Faith Alone, is a major work on an essential evangelical tenet.

Book God in the Dock

Download or read book God in the Dock written by C. S. Lewis and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2014-09-15 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Lewis struck me as the most thoroughly converted man I ever met," observes Walter Hooper in the preface to this collection of essays by C.S. Lewis. "His whole vision of life was such that the natural and the supernatural seemed inseparably combined. "It is precisely this pervasive Christianity which is demonstrated in the forty-eight essays comprising God in the Dock. Here Lewis addresses himself both to theological questions and to those which Hooper terms "semi-theological," or ethical. But whether he is discussing "Evil and God," "Miracles," "The Decline of Religion," or "The Humanitarian Theory of Punishment," his insight and observations are thoroughly and profoundly Christian. Drawn from a variety of sources, the essays were designed to meet a variety of needs, and among other accomplishments they serve to illustrate the many different angles from which we are able to view the Christian religion. They range from relatively popular pieces written for newspapers to more learned defenses of the faith which first appeared in The Socratic Digest. Characterized by Lewis's honesty and realism, his insight and conviction, and above all his thoroughgoing commitments to Christianity, these essays make God in the Dock very much a book for our time.--Amazon.com.

Book excerpt: "Our Christian assertion is that there is more to our lives than 'now.' If there is not then even the now is meaningless. But we say now counts. Why? Now counts because we are creatures who have an origin and a destiny which is rooted and grounded in God." --R.C. Sproul ------ There is no such thing as a meaningless moment. Since we're made in God's image and created for His eternal glory, everything we think, say, and do today matters forever. The question is, How should this truth direct our daily lives? Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God's favor towards some serves God's plan for the larger world. The Bible's affirmation of Israel's divine election is often ignored or even repudiated by contemporary Christians and Jews who are scandalized by the possibility that God might favor one person or group over another. Beginning with the stories of family rivalry in Genesis and in working through a host of other biblical texts, Joel Kaminsky explores the dynamics of election. Why does God favor certain people? How do the chosen and non-chosen interact? And what might these texts teach us about God's intention for the world?

Book The Potter s Freedom

Download or read book The Potter s Freedom written by James R. White and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is Dr. Geisler warning the Christian community about in his book, Chosen But Free? A new cult? Secularism? False prophecy scenarios? No. Dr. Geisler is sounding the alarm about a system of beliefs commonly called "Calvinism." He insists that this belief system is "theologically inconsistent, philosophically insufficient, and morally repugnant." This book is written as a reply to Dr. Geisler, but it is much more: it is a defense of the very principles upon which the Protestant Reformation was founded. Indeed, it is a defense of the very gospel itself! In a style that both scholars and laymen can appreciate, James White masterfully counters the evidence against so-called "extreme Calvinism," defines what the Reformed Faith actually is, and concludes that the gospel preached by the Reformers is the very one taught in the pages of Scripture. - Back cover

No man will be so bold as he who believes that he is elect of God. What cares he for man if he is chosen of his Maker? What will he care for the pitiful chirpings of some tiny sparrows when he knoweth that he is an eagle of a royal race? Will he care when the beggar pointeth at him, when the blood royal of heaven runs in his veins? Will he fear if all the world stand against him?" Here is one of the most gripping and succinct messages on the subject ever delivered!
