Book Diary of an Angry Pregnant Woman

Download or read book Diary of an Angry Pregnant Woman written by Traci Thomas and published by Traci Thomas. This book was released on 2015-02-06 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Traci Thomas's boyfriend abandoned her and their unborn child, Thomas wanted to get even. Four weeks after the birth, she'd lost over fifty pounds. Within eight weeks, she had the muscle tone of a fitness model. Photos of Thomas's amazing transformation went viral, and soon Fox News called for an interview. She starred in fitness infomercials. She was an Internet star. Thomas's smiling face in the photos of her remarkable, yet dangerously fast, postpartum recovery hid the sad truth: Thomas was depressed and angry. For years, she'd cycled through bad relationships. Through it all, she continued improving her own personal fitness, and became a successful personal trainer. It was the ultimate heartache, however, that pushed her to the breaking point. The physical and emotional pain she endured recovering her prebaby body ignited her career and gave her the strength to finally find personal fulfillment. "Diary of an Angry Pregnant" "Woman" is the story of how one woman channeled her frustration into real change. Part memoir, part guide to postpartum recovery, Thomas's story will inspire women everywhere to reclaim their emotional and physical health.

Book In the Midst of This Mess A Mother s Journal

Download or read book In the Midst of This Mess A Mother s Journal written by Sharon K Miller and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-06-04 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder, dyslexia, possible schizophrenia, dyscalculia, epilepsy, infertility, premenstrual syndrome, rebellion, depression, and personality disorder—welcome to the world of a family in chaos. But in the midst of it all, God was faithful, merciful, and always present. The dream of a perfect family was not happening for this author. The possibility of ever having a family seemed to be out of reach. Adoption, however, granted a son, then a daughter. And soon after the daughter’s adoption came a totally unexpected pregnancy, a second son. It finally looked as if that perfect family was a reality. However, each of these children had challenges that generated emotional and physical changes within the family. Instead of perfection, there was chaos. Instead of stability, there was insecurity. And instead of calmness, there was continual strife. When a family needs to work through emotional and physical challenges, permanent scars can be created along with feelings of frustration, abandonment, and rejection. Today, the children in this story are adults. Some still work through those scars, but most are emotionally stable and living productive lives. In the Midst of This Mess: A Mother’s Journal was written to share God’s truths and to encourage families who might also be in chaos. Sometimes, we just need to realize we are not alone. Sometimes, we just need encouragement. Sometimes, we just need to be reminded that God is in control no matter what.

Book The Motherhood Diaries

Download or read book The Motherhood Diaries written by ReShonda Tate Billingsley and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2013-04-09 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a mother, you love your kids and you’d do anything for them—but chances are you’ve probably wondered, “What in the world was I thinking?” The Motherhood Diaries is full of humorous and enlightening stories from mothers who have wondered the same thing. As the working mother of three children, ReShonda Tate Billingsley knows motherhood isn’t a perfect science. She openly shares stories with her thousands of followers on social media about her children: thirteen-year-old Mya, the diva whose Instagram post—and subsequent punishment—went viral; ten-year-old Morgan, who has a serious case of middle-child syndrome and a knack for giving her teachers a few of her mother’s favorite things; and finally, Myles, a witty and precocious five-year-old who, as his grandmother says, “has been here before.” It was while chronicling her journey that she discovered she wasn’t the only mother who longed for the days when she could use the restroom in peace, who sometimes sat in the driveway because she didn’t want to go in the house, and who sometimes wondered, is this what I signed up for? Hence, The Motherhood Diaries was born. Through humorous and enlightening dialogue and narrative, ReShonda chronicles her own journey, as well as reveals candid imperfections of a mother trying to balance it all. With humorous and heartwarming stories from other mothers also trying to “get it right,” The Motherhood Diaries shares candid and honest conversations about the good, the bad and the downright disastrous path of mothering in the New Millennium.

Download or read book Flash Count Diary written by Darcey Steinke and published by Sarah Crichton Books. This book was released on 2019-06-18 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Many days I believe menopause is the new (if long overdue) frontier for the most compelling and necessary philosophy; Darcey Steinke is already there, blazing the way. This elegant, wise, fascinating, deeply moving book is an instant classic. I’m about to buy it for everyone I know.” —Maggie Nelson, author of The Argonauts A brave, brilliant, and unprecedented examination of menopause Menopause hit Darcey Steinke hard. First came hot flashes. Then insomnia. Then depression. As she struggled to express what was happening to her, she came up against a culture of silence. Throughout history, the natural physical transition of menopause has been viewed as something to deny, fear, and eradicate. Menstruation signals fertility and life, and childbirth is revered as the ultimate expression of womanhood. Menopause is seen as a harbinger of death. Some books Steinke found promoted hormone replacement therapy. Others encouraged acceptance. But Steinke longed to understand menopause in a more complex, spiritual, and intellectually engaged way. In Flash Count Diary, Steinke writes frankly about aspects of Menopause that have rarely been written about before. She explores the changing gender landscape that comes with reduced hormone levels, and lays bare the transformation of female desire and the realities of prejudice against older women. Weaving together her personal story with philosophy, science, art, and literature, Steinke reveals that in the seventeenth century, women who had hot flashes in front of others could be accused of being witches; that the model for Duchamp's famous Étant donnés was a post-reproductive woman; and that killer whales—one of the only other species on earth to undergo menopause—live long post-reproductive lives. Flash Count Diary, with its deep research, open play of ideas, and reverence for the female body, will change the way you think about menopause. It's a deeply feminist book—honest about the intimations of mortality that menopause brings while also arguing for the ascendancy, beauty, and power of the post-reproductive years.

Book Meeting the Needs of Parents Pregnant and Parenting After Perinatal Loss

Download or read book Meeting the Needs of Parents Pregnant and Parenting After Perinatal Loss written by Joann O'Leary and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-06-17 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite research which highlights parents’ increased anxiety and risk of attachment issues with the pregnancy that follows a perinatal loss, there is often little understanding that bereaved families may need different care in their subsequent pregnancies. This book explores the lived experience of pregnancy and parenting after a perinatal loss. Meeting the Needs of Parents Pregnant and Parenting After Perinatal Loss develops a helpful framework, which integrates continuing bonds and attachment theories, to support prenatal parenting at each stage of pregnancy. Giving insight into how a parent’s world view of a pregnancy may have changed following a loss, readers are provided with tools to assist parents on their journey. The book discusses each stage of a pregnancy, as well as labor and the postpartum period, before examining subjects such as multi-fetal pregnancies, reluctant terminations, use of support groups, and the experiences of fathers and other children in the family. The chapters include up-to-date research findings, vignettes from parents reflecting on their own experiences and recommendations for practice. Written for researchers, students and professionals from a range of health, social welfare and early years education backgrounds, this text outlines what we know about supporting bereaved families encountering the challenges of a subsequent pregnancy.

Book The Richard Burton Diaries

Download or read book The Richard Burton Diaries written by Richard Burton and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2012-10-15 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The irresistible, candid diaries of Richard Burton, published in their entirety “Just great fun, and written out of an engaging, often comical bewilderment: How did a poor Welshman become not only a star, but a player on the world stage that was Elizabeth Taylor’s fame?”—Hilton Als, NewYorker.com “Of real interest is that Burton was almost as good a writer as an actor, read as many as three books a day, haunted bookstores in every city he set foot in, bought countless books on every conceivable subject and evaluated them rather shrewdly. . . . Apt writing abounds.”—John Simon, New York Times Book Review Irresistibly magnetic on stage, mesmerizing in movies, seven times an Academy Award nominee, Richard Burton rose from humble beginnings in Wales to become Hollywood's most highly paid actor and one of England's most admired Shakespearean performers. His epic romance with Elizabeth Taylor, his legendary drinking and story-telling, his dazzling purchases (enormous diamonds, a jet, homes on several continents), and his enormous talent kept him constantly in the public eye. Yet the man behind the celebrity façade carried a surprising burden of insecurity and struggled with the peculiar challenges of a life lived largely in the spotlight. This volume publishes Burton's extensive personal diaries in their entirety for the first time. His writings encompass many years—from 1939, when he was still a teenager, to 1983, the year before his death—and they reveal him in his most private moments, pondering his triumphs and demons, his loves and his heartbreaks. The diary entries appear in their original sequence, with annotations to clarify people, places, books, and events Burton mentions. From these hand-written pages emerges a multi-dimensional man, no mere flashy celebrity. While Burton touched shoulders with shining lights—among them Olivia de Havilland, John Gielgud, Claire Bloom, Laurence Olivier, John Huston, Dylan Thomas, and Edward Albee—he also played the real-life roles of supportive family man, father, husband, and highly intelligent observer. His diaries offer a rare and fresh perspective on his own life and career, and on the glamorous decades of the mid-twentieth century.

Book Women Are Angry

  • Author : Jennifer Cox
  • Publisher : Kings Road Publishing
  • Release : 2024-07-04
  • ISBN : 1785120948
  • Pages : 201 pages

Download or read book Women Are Angry written by Jennifer Cox and published by Kings Road Publishing. This book was released on 2024-07-04 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our chronic ill health is evidence that history has not emancipated us. Women still cannot recognise or permit their own rage. Micro and macro injustices are woven through our personal narratives, and we wear their imprint on our bodies and minds. This book is an urgent call to arms to identify these feelings and channel them for good. Before they destroy us. What if you aren't depressed? What if you don't have chronic fatigue? What if you are just... angry? What if a lifetime of being told to repress anger, hide it away and fear it, has shown up in your body in a myriad of ways you can't control? As a woman, when was the last time you were allowed to be truly angry? Have you ever? The answer to this, argues Jennifer Cox, is never. Women are never allowed to really express their anger, and it is making us all mad. From toddlerdom when girls are conditioned to be 'good' and not make a fuss, to the sandwich years of midlife when the burden of myriad responsibilities is overwhelming, women's anger is hidden, repressed and toxic. This book will show you where it is hiding and how to let it out.
