Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an excellent review of the various rheumatological conditions, both common and uncommon, that may present on imaging on a daily basis. The book uses a unique format that will be beneficial for clinicians, radiologists, medical students, and consultant staff. The text is written by both rheumatology and radiology staff to provide a balanced approach. A clinical overview and the common clinical presentations are briefly reviewed for each condition followed by a more detailed discussion of imaging findings produced by the various imaging modalities, including radiographs, ultrasound, MRI, CT, and nuclear medicine. This book details the imaging of normal musculoskeletal anatomy and pathology; discusses image-guided musculoskeletal interventions; and examines disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue disease, osteoarthritis, osteonecrosis, infection-related arthritis, soft tissue calcification, and bone and synovial tumors. Featuring over 600 multi-part, high-resolution images of rheumatic diseases across current imaging modalities, Essential Imaging in Rheumatology offers up-to-date and complete information on the imaging of these disorders. Developed by the authors of Essential Imaging In Rheumatology are three new exciting interactive imaging Apps that enhance the invaluable information provided in the book. Rheumatology and imaging are closely linked specialties particularly with the expansion of the imaging armamentarium available to the rheumatologists in the last decade. Imaging has a strong impact on patient diagnosis, management and outcome, requiring both the rheumatologist and the radiologist to have a clear understanding of pathologies and their variable imaging appearances, differential diagnosis and optimal imaging algorithms. A primary focus of our " Imaging In Rheumatology Edicational Initiative " is to thus to stimulate interest in rheumatological imaging and as such we are delighted to provide a be able to provide our "UnRavelling Spondyloarthropathy" App free. Download or read book The Rheumatoid Hand written by G. Garlaschi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rheumatic inflammatory diseases represent a steadily increasing group of disorders that have considerable social impact through affected patients' worsening quality of life and require engagement in the health field. Among these, rheumatoid arthritis stands as the most frequent pathology, and the hand is the most typical affected area. The incidence of rheumatic arthritis, as indicated by recent epidemiological studies, is bound to undergo a further significant increase in the future. There is, therefore, a need for careful diagnosis of the disease, based on clinical criteria designed by the American College of Rheumatology and Diagnostic Imaging. The latter provides an objective assessment of the extent and severity of joint involvement. Rheumatoid Hand includes 25 tables of clinical and radiological cases. The text analyses the capability of diagnostic imaging (conventional radiology, ultrasonography and magnetic resonance) to identify the early stages and the activity of disease, allowing the rheumatologist to decide on an effective therapeutic plan.

Book Ultrasonography of the Hand in Rheumatology

Download or read book Ultrasonography of the Hand in Rheumatology written by Peter Vince Balint and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-06 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an essential guide for rheumatologists using ultrasound to study musculoskeletal structures and diagnose rheumatic diseases of the hand. A fundamental understanding of anatomy is key to identifying and interpreting pathological findings on imaging. This book provides comprehensive knowledge about both gross anatomy and, more importantly, comparative imaging anatomy, as depicted by ultrasound, X-ray, and MRI of the hand. This foundation enables clinicians to readily identify pathologic findings and thus improve diagnostic skills. The authors also offer step-by-step guidelines for using ultrasound, with comprehensive descriptions about body and transducer position, sonographic terminology, and anatomical landmarks in different planes of the hand. This book is an indispensable reference for rheumatologists and rheumatology residents using musculoskeletal ultrasound in clinical practice.

Book Soft Tissues of the Extremities

Download or read book Soft Tissues of the Extremities written by W. J. Weston and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past decade there has been a burgeoning of interest in arthritis and related rheumatic diseases. The spe ciality of rheumatology, once regarded as a "Cinderella" speciality, is now one of the leading specialties in internal medicine. Indeed, just as infant mortality is a good index of the general health of a community, so a University Med ical School can be similarly judged by the quality of its Department of Rheumatology. Perhaps no other specialty has helped to advance knowledge in medicine as has rheu matology One might have thought that little could be added to the clinical and radiologic description of one of the most studied diseases in rheumatology~rheumatoid arthritis. There are several excellent large radiology textbooks on bones and joints, and it is surprising that yet another book has been published. However, the reader will soon appreciate on reading this superb radiologic text on rheumatoid arthritis that here is something new and quite different from what has been published in the past. The combination of clinician and radiologist has produced a textbook which will become a standard reference on the subject. The authors are both well known in their respective fields and they have concentrated on the early changes in the disease-not only those in the articular surfaces but also those in the soft tissues. In 1948 the late Dr Philip Ellman coined the term "rheumatoid disease," to indicate the systemic nature of rheumatoid arthritis.

Book Diagnostic Imaging of Musculoskeletal Diseases

Download or read book Diagnostic Imaging of Musculoskeletal Diseases written by Akbar Bonakdarpour and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-06-09 with total page 666 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We dedicate this text to Drs. Ernest E. Aegerter, a pathologist, and John A. Kirkpatrick Jr., a radiologist. They were among the principal founders of the ?eld of skeletal pathology and radiology. During their time, their residents and colleagues knew them as great educators with a dedication and a passion for their work. Their textbook, Orthopedic Diseases, published initially in 1958 was among the ?rst interdisciplinary works devoted to this ?eld. Dr. Aegerter and Dr. Kirkpatrick illuminated many aspects of the ?eld of radiology. Today, with the advent of new technologies, this ?eld has grown to include not only diseases that affect the skeleton but also those that affect muscles, ligaments, tendons, and also the cartilaginous structures within joints. With this text we intend to carry on Dr. Aegerter and Dr. Kirkpatrick’s tradition. We have recruited only well-known musculoskeletal radiologists and pathologists to participate in the writing of this book. Each author has been carefully selected for his expertise on the topic about which he’s been asked to contribute. Each author is known as an experienced and seasoned teacher. Each author has made a mark on the ?eld.
