Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perfect for baseball lovers and fans of Mike Lupica, book three in the Triple Threat series by New York Times bestselling sports writer John Feinstein explores what happens when athletes break the rules. Alex Myers’s football and basketball seasons were mired in controversy, and his dad’s been MIA since his parents split up. All Alex wants this spring is to work on his fastball and hang out with his maybe-girlfriend, Christine. But he runs into unexpected competition on both fronts. Matt Gordon was suspended from sports after he admitted taking PEDs during football season, but the athletic board has decided to give him another chance. So he’s on the team—and he’s got something to prove. He’s also got his eye on Christine. The question this season—is all fair in love and baseball? Or are some things truly foul? Filled with action, intrigue, and intense rivalries, The DH and the other books in the Triple Threat series follow the ups and downs of one talented athlete’s year in sports. Praise for book one in the Triple Threat series, The Walk On: “All the goods for the sports enthusiast—and more.” —Kirkus Reviews “Full of refreshingly decent high school students, first crushes, a dose of dating drama, and a cliff-hanger ending, The Walk On will interest even non-football fans.” —School Library Journal Praise for book two in the Triple Threat series, The Sixth Man: “Suspenseful and well-dramatized sports action scenes. . . . Solidly drawn, both on and off the court.” —Kirkus Reviews

Download or read book Structure Theory written by Helmut Strade and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2017-04-24 with total page 550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of classifying the finite dimensional simple Lie algebras over fields of characteristic p > 0 is a long-standing one. Work on this question has been directed by the Kostrikin-Shafarevich Conjecture of 1966, which states that over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p > 5 a finite dimensional restricted simple Lie algebra is classical or of Cartan type. This conjecture was proved for p > 7 by Block and Wilson in 1988. The generalization of the Kostrikin-Shafarevich Conjecture for the general case of not necessarily restricted Lie algebras and p > 7 was announced in 1991 by Strade and Wilson and eventually proved by Strade in 1998. The final Block-Wilson-Strade-Premet Classification Theorem is a landmark result of modern mathematics and can be formulated as follows: Every simple finite dimensional simple Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p > 3 is of classical, Cartan, or Melikian type. In the three-volume book, the author is assembling the proof of the Classification Theorem with explanations and references. The goal is a state-of-the-art account on the structure and classification theory of Lie algebras over fields of positive characteristic. This first volume is devoted to preparing the ground for the classification work to be performed in the second and third volumes. The concise presentation of the general theory underlying the subject matter and the presentation of classification results on a subclass of the simple Lie algebras for all odd primes will make this volume an invaluable source and reference for all research mathematicians and advanced graduate students in algebra. The second edition is corrected. Download or read book How Can the Human Capability Approach Contribute to Gender Mainstreaming written by Maria De Eguia Huerta and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2017 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work discusses Gender Mainstreaming from a post-development perspective, while it explores in which ways the Capability Approach may contribute to this strategy. The author puts notions of well-being at the heart of her arguments and questions the concrete practices of the development apparatus that derive from the idea of bringing gender equality to the Global South. She looks at the power structures which shape the relationships between development professionals, local experts, and local participants. This interdisciplinary research has followed the Grounded Theory methodology using its potential to decolonize knowledge production. The fieldwork was conducted in Germany and Bolivia. Dissertation. Download or read book Professional Accountability in Social Care and Health written by Roger Kline and published by Learning Matters. This book was released on 2012-04-24 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many social workers, health care staff and teachers maintain high standards of professionalism, often in stressful and challenging circumstances. However, research also reveals instances where individual practitioners and managers, or whole organisations, fail to act lawfully, ethically and/or carefully. This book addresses just those instances by providing guidance on how to maintain accountable professionalism in tricky "what if?" situations. Dilemmas are explored using case studies and the mosaic of legal rules and regulatory body requirements for accountable professionalism are also laid out. The book will appeal to students and newly qualified practitioners in teaching, health and social work and their managers.
