Download or read book Dewdrops Raindrops Teardrops and Sun drops written by Akruti Desai and published by . This book was released on 2024-04-03 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dewdrops, Raindrops, Teardrops and Sun-drops! is an enchanting collection of poems by D. Akruti Desai. It is an endeavour to put down on paper various emotions experience by the writer at different stages in her life. Her kaleidoscope of words reflect the myriad hues of her journey so far. Over the past decade she has called four diverse cities in India, her home. Being easy to talk to and confide in coupled with her professional role of listening to troubles of her patients has helped her in trying to understand the human condition in its rawest form. Her poem on "Towering Expectations" addresses the weight of societal pressures, while some others tenderly capture the poignancy of farewells. She tries to unfold a narrative of compassion, growth and adaptation, akin to the evolving lexicon of one's existence. Now, back in her hometown, she has rediscovered the solace of familiar faces and rekindled connections with old friends. Her favourite themes are childhood and connections, which sculpt our thoughts, hopes, expectations and values. Each poem is a brushstroke on the canvas of life. With a delicate touch, the poet navigates the complexities of the human forebearance, inviting readers to immerse themselves in the poetic stories that define us all.

Book Dewdrops from Fairyland Illustrated by A Duncan Carse

Download or read book Dewdrops from Fairyland Illustrated by A Duncan Carse written by Lucy M. Scott and published by Read Books Ltd. This book was released on 2018-01-31 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lucy M. Scott's collection of short stories, 'Dewdrops from Fairyland' was originally published in 1912. The stories were written by the author when she was just nine years old, produced sporadically and originally entitled 'Entirely Unaided'. This beautifully illustrated collection would make for ideal bedtime reading, and is highly recommended for those with a love of fairies and fairy tales. Contents include: 'Silver Wings' Visit to Earth', 'Tiger-Lily Sprite', 'The Last Bee of Summer', 'The Immortal Baby', 'The Witch and the Goblin', 'When the Sun and Moon Met', 'The First Rose Beetle', 'A Blackberry Tale', and 'Mrs. Nightingale's Evening Party'. These tales are further enhanced by the wonderful watercolour illustrations of A. Duncan Carse - a lesser known though immensely accomplished artist and Golden Age illustrator. Although Carse provided the illustrations for Lucy M. Scott’s Dewdrops from Fairyland, it was his contributions to Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales that arguably solidified his reputation as an accomplished illustrator of children’s books. Pook Press celebrates the great ‘Golden Age of Illustration‘ in children’s classics and fairy tales – a period of unparalleled excellence in book illustration. We publish rare and vintage Golden Age illustrated books, in high-quality colour editions, so that the masterful artwork and story-telling can continue to delight both young and old.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This carefully crafted ebook: "My First Summer in the Sierra (With Original Drawings & Photographs)” is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. When he came to California and finally settled in San Francisco, John Muir immediately left for a visit to Yosemite, a place he had only read about. Seeing it for the first time, Muir noted that "He was overwhelmed by the landscape, scrambling down steep cliff faces to get a closer look at the waterfalls, whooping and howling at the vistas, jumping tirelessly from flower to flower." He climbed a number of mountains, including Cathedral Peak and Mount Dana, and hiked the old Indian trail down Bloody Canyon to Mono Lake. He lived in the cabin for two years, and wrote about this period in his book My First Summer in the Sierra. John Muir (1838 - 1914) was a Scottish-American naturalist, author, environmental philosopher and early advocate of preservation of wilderness in the United States. His letters, essays, and books telling of his adventures in nature, especially in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, have been read by millions. His activism helped to preserve the Yosemite Valley, Sequoia National Park and other wilderness areas. The Sierra Club, which he founded, is a prominent American conservation organization.
