Book Analysis and Design of Certain Quantitative Multiresponse Experiments

Download or read book Analysis and Design of Certain Quantitative Multiresponse Experiments written by S. N. Roy and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-15 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analysis and Design of Certain Quantitative Multiresponse Experiments highlights (i) the need for multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA); (ii) the need for multivariate design for multiresponse experiments; and (iii) the actual procedures and interpretation that have been used for this purpose by the authors. The development in this monograph is such that the theory and methods of uniresponse analysis and design stay very close to classical ANOVA. The book first discusses the multivariate aspect of linear models for location type of parameters, but under a univariate design, i.e. one in which each experimental unit is measured or studied with respect to all the responses. Separate chapters cover point estimation of location parameters; testing of linear hypotheses; properties of test procedures; and confidence bounds on a set of parametric functions. Subsequent chapters discuss a graphical internal comparison method for analyzing certain kinds of multiresponse experimental data; two classes of multiresponse designs, i.e. designated hierarchical and p-block designs; and the construction of various kinds of multiresponse designs.

Book Using Dynamic Analysis for Compact Gear Design

Download or read book Using Dynamic Analysis for Compact Gear Design written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper presents procedures for designing compact spur gear sets with the objective of minimizing the gear size. The allowable tooth stress and dynamic response are incorporated in the process to obtain a feasible design region. Various dynamic rating factors were investigated and evaluated. The constraints of contact stress limits and involute interference combined with the tooth bending strength provide the main criteria for this investigation. A three-dimensional design space involving the gear size, diametral pitch, and operating speed was developed to illustrate the optimal design of spur gear pairs. The study performed here indicates that as gears operate over a range of speeds, variations in the dynamic response change the required gear size in a trend that parallels the dynamic factor. The dynamic factors are strongly affected by the system natural frequencies. The peak values of the dynamic factor within the operating speed range significantly influence the optimal gear designs. The refined dynamic factor introduced in this study yields more compact designs than AGMA dynamic factors.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 519 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shell-type structures can be found almost everywhere. They appear in natural forms but also as man-made, load-bearing components in diverse engineering systems. Mankind has struggled to replicate nature’s optimization of such structures but using modern computational tools it is now possible to analyse, design and optimise them systematically. Analysis and Optimization of Prismatic and Axisymmetric Shell Structures features: comprehensive coverage of the background theory of shell structures; development and implementation of reliable, creative and efficient computational tools for static and free-vibration analysis and structural optimization of variable-thickness shells and folded-plate structures; integrated computer-aided curve and surface modelling tools and automatic mesh generation, structural analysis sensitivity analysis and mathematical programming methods; well-documented, downloadable Fortran software for these techniques using finite element and finite strip simulations which can be readily adapted by the reader for the solution of practical problems or for use within a teaching or research environment. Written by leading experts in finite element and finite strip methods, Analysis and Optimization of Prismatic and Axisymmetric Shell Structures will be of great interest to researchers in structural mechanics and in automotive, aerospace and civil engineering as well as to designers from all fields using shell structures for their strength-per-unit-mass advantages.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 621 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a compendium of papers presented during the second TRlennal Symposium on Transportation ANalysis (TRISTAN II) that took place in Capri, Italy on June 23-28, 1994. The Symposium was organized by the Progetto Finalizzato Trasporti and the Istituto di Analisi dei Sistemi ed Informatica of the Italian National Research Council jointly with the Italian Operations Research Society. The purpose of this kind of meetings is to periodically allow an exchange of views and findings by scientists in the field of transportation analysis methods and tools. Therefore, the papers presented dealt with a wide range of topics and cover the different aspects of transportation analysis. The material contained in this book gives particular emphasis to the development of mathematical modelling and algorithms. This development is due to the evolution of digital computers and the continuous increase of the computing power. In fact the need of solving large scale problems (crew scheduling, network traffic control, pollution monitoring and control,. etc ... ) involves in some case, thousands of variables and therefore sophisticated mathematical models and computational algorithms.
