Book Foreign Direct Investment in China

Download or read book Foreign Direct Investment in China written by Ms.Wanda Tseng and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2002-02-01 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China's increasing openness to foreign direct investment (FDI) has contributed importantly to its exceptional growth performance. This paper examines China's experience with FDI and identifies some lessons for other countries. Most of the factors explaining China's success have also been important in attracting FDI to other countries: market size, labor costs, quality of infrastructure, and government policies. FDI has contributed to higher investment and productivity growth, and has created jobs and a dynamic export sector. China's success, however, did not come without some pitfalls: an increasingly complex tax incentive system and growing regional income disparities. Accession to the WTO should broaden China's "opening up" policies and continue FDI's contributions to China's economy in the future.

Book Foreign Direct Investment in South Asia

Download or read book Foreign Direct Investment in South Asia written by Pravakar Sahoo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the 1990s, the governments of South Asian countries acted as ‘facilitators’ to attract FDI. As a result, the inflow of FDI increased. However, to become an attractive FDI destination as China, Singapore, or Brazil, South Asia has to improve the local conditions of doing business. This book, based on research that blends theory, empirical evidence, and policy, asks and attempts to answer a few core questions relevant to FDI policy in South Asian countries: Which major reforms have succeeded? What are the factors that influence FDI inflows? What has been the impact of FDI on macroeconomic performance? Which policy priorities/reforms needed to boost FDI are pending? These questions and answers should interest policy makers, academics, and all those interested in FDI in the South Asian region and in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Book Handbook of Research on Institutional Economic and Social Impacts of Globalization and Liberalization

Download or read book Handbook of Research on Institutional Economic and Social Impacts of Globalization and Liberalization written by Bayar, Yilmaz and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2020-11-06 with total page 699 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Globalization is a multi-dimensional concept reflecting the increased economic, social, cultural, and political integration of countries. There has been no pinpointed consensus on the history of globalization; however, the globalization process has gained significant speed as of the 1980s in combination with liberalization. Many countries have removed or loosened barriers over the international flows of goods, services, and production factors. In this context, both liberalization and globalization have led to considerable institutional, economic, social, cultural, and political changes in the world. The liberalization and globalization processes have affected economic units, institutions, cultures, social lives, and national and international politics. The Handbook of Research on Institutional, Economic, and Social Impacts of Globalization and Liberalization provides a comprehensive evaluation of the institutional, economic, and social impacts of globalization and liberalization processes across the world. While highlighting topics like economics, finance, business, and public administration, this book is ideally intended for government officials, policymakers, practitioners, stakeholders, researchers, and academicians interested in the international impacts of globalization and liberalization across a variety of different domains.

Book Foreign Direct Investment China and the World Economy

Download or read book Foreign Direct Investment China and the World Economy written by P. Buckley and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-11-29 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China has become such an important element of the global economy that its influence cannot be ignored in almost any field of endeavour. The phenomenal impact of FDI in China and its (largely trade-related) consequences has been well documented and now there is a significant literature on the phenomenon of outward investment from China too. This book is an in depth study of the international business relationships of China covering both inward and outward foreign direct investment, its impact and related theoretical and policy issues. This volume of highly renowned author Peter Buckley's collected papers from 2005-8 continues his interest in the theory of international business (Section I) and policies towards foreign direct investment (FDI) (Section IV) but has a major concentration on China, both as regards outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) from China (Section II) and FDI in China (Section III).

Book The Determinants of Chinese Outward Direct Investment

Download or read book The Determinants of Chinese Outward Direct Investment written by Hinrich Voss and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapid international expansion of Chinese enterprises since the 1990s has attracted considerable attention in scholarly and policy circles. This book sheds fresh light on the phenomenon by explaining its determinants using the analytical lens of international business theory. The author focuses in particular on how Chinese firms interact with the institutional environment both at home and abroad. Drawing upon evidence and analysis from official statistics, Hinrich Voss concludes that the institutional change and market imperfections in China, combined with host country effects and the mediating role of trans-border social and business networks, are key facilitators of the rise of Chinese multinationals. This book provides the most up-to-date analysis of the determinants of Chinese outward foreign direct investments, and will appeal to academics with an interest in international business and management, as well as those researching China specifically and Asian business more broadly. Postgraduate students in international business, Asian business studies and international relations will find this book invaluable, as will practitioners dealing with Chinese multinational enterprises.
