Book excerpt: El propósito del presente trabajo es indagar acerca del desempeño lector de un grupo de niños de primero básico que presentan Trastorno Específico de Lenguaje (TEL) y que pertenecen a colegios Municipalizados y particulares subvencionados con programas de integración. Participaron 60 niños con diagnostico TEL y 60 con desarrollo típico de Lenguaje (DTL). Estos últimos fueron considerados como grupo control. Se describen las competencias en las habilidades de decodificación y comprensión lectora, y se comparan ambos grupos. Los resultados muestran por una parte, que la mayoría de los niños con TEL presentan un rendimiento descendido frente al grupo control en ambas variables investigadas, dentro de éstas, la que presenta los resultados más descendidos es la comprensión lectora. Además los resultados muestran una alta correlación entre la decodificación y la comprensión lectora.Los bajos rendimientos que presenta el grupo de estudio corrobora la hipótesis de que constituyen un grupo de riesgo frente al aprendizaje lector.

El grupo de estudio lo integraban 30 niños y niñas de primer año básico de escuelas municipales y particulares subvencionadas con proyecto de integración. Su promedio de edad era 6 años 8 meses. A su vez, el grupo control estuvo conformado por 30 niños y niñas con desarrollo típico del lenguaje, cuyo promedio de edad fue 6 años 7 meses.Se evaluó la decodificación y comprensión lectora. Los resultados mostraron que el desempeño lector de los niños con TEL está descendido al compararlos con los niños con DT. Desde el plano descriptivo el nivel de logro en decodificación es lectura de letras y en comprensión lectora es comprensión de palabras.
