Book excerpt: The author of Pinnacles of Power delivers a post-Cold War spy thriller featuring globe-hopping journalist Jackson Maxwell. The place: A European center of power in the emerging new world order. The event: An international conference plotting the strategy for evangelism in the post-Cold War era. Jackson Maxwell, Christian journalist, travels to Berlin intent upon capturing the spirit of this historic gathering. But behind the scenes, a much more crucial chain of events is about to take shape. As high-tech churchmen plan a big-money conversation of the East, Jackson is suddenly faced with the life-or-death struggle of one solitary Christian. He is Andrassy Galanov, a former KGB spy, whom aspiring leaders of the new order want dead as soon as possible. When Jackson and leading evangelist Jacob Michaels make the decision to help, they are plunged into a hidden world of political intrigue, phony coups d’état, plans for a one-world currency, and a sinister religious vision for the globe. In their race against time, Jackson and Jacob also run headlong into their most surprising find—the rethinking of the very nature of Christian conversion itself.

Download or read book Depths written by Henning Mankell and published by Vintage Canada. This book was released on 2010-05-28 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Internationally acclaimed and bestselling author Henning Mankell will be published for the first time in Canada by Knopf Canada with Depths. October 1914: the destroyer Svea emerged from the Stockholm archipelago bearing south-southeast. On board was Lars Tobiasson-Svartman, a naval engineer charged with making depth soundings to find a navigable channel for the Swedish navy. As a child Tobiasson-Svartman was fascinated by measurement; nothing is as magical as exact knowledge. His instinct for his profession is reflected in the comfortable domesticity he enjoys with his wife – herself meticulous in every detail. Close to the waters where soundings are taken Tobiasson-Svartman alights on a barren skerry, presumed uninhabited, and is surprised to discover there a young woman, Sara Fredrika. Despite her almost feral appearance, something about her strikes him to the core. The mission is a success and the Svea returns to Gothenburg. Tobiasson-Svartman, however, remains haunted by this chance encounter; his equilibrium has been disturbed, and he is now compelled to find any pretence to return to the remote islet. In Depths Mankell confirms his status as a writer deserving acclaim beyond the crime genre. By delving deep into the male psyche, he has produced a novel as tense and compelling in every way as the Wallander series, but also powerful, moving and ultimately tragic.

Download or read book Lady Chatterley s Lover written by David Herbert Lawrence and published by Penguin. This book was released on 1994 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With her soft brown hair, lithe figure and big, wondering eyes, Constance Chatterley is possessed of a certain vitality. Yet she is deeply unhappy; married to an invalid, she is almost as inwardly paralysed as her husband Clifford is paralysed below the waist. It is not until she finds refuge in the arms of Mellors the game-keeper, a solitary man of a class apart, that she feels regenerated. Together they move from an outer world of chaos towards an inner world of fulfillment. Included here, in his essay A Propos of Lady Chatterley's Lover, are Lawrence's own, final thoughts on male-female relationships in the modern world. This Penguin edition reproduces the newly established Cambridge text, the first edition ever to restore to Lawrence's most famous work the words he wrote and the first to correct authoritatively the 1928 Florence edition which Lawrence personally supervised. @DeadFlowers Our farmhand is so aloof and Romantic. Download or read book Deep water Coral Reefs written by Martin Hovland and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-08-24 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deep-water coral reefs are found along large sections of the outer continental shelves and slopes of Europe, from North Cape to the Gulf of Cadiz, and because they also occur along the Atlantic seaboard of USA, the Gulf of Mexico, off Brazil, in the Mediterranean, and off New Zealand, they are currently being targeted by international groups of marine scientists. They have become popular and opportune deep-water research targets because they offer exciting frontier exploration, combined with a whole plethora of modern scientific methods, such as deep-sea drilling, sampling, remote control surveying and documentation. Furthermore they represent timely opportunities for further developments within the application of geochemistry, stable isotope research, bacterial sciences, including DNA-sequestering, and medical research (search for bioactive compounds). The Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) has arranged a deep-sea scientific drilling campaign on giant carbonate banks off Ireland. Because the reefs currently defy traditional marine-ecological theories, they represent future research opportunities and will enjoy scientific scrutiny for many years to come.
Download or read book Deep Calling to Deep written by William Paul Lero and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2023-03-16 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you struggle in your relationship with God? Do you wonder where your life is going? Do you feel you are missing what God has for you? Why is it so hard for you to really trust God? In Deep Calling to Deep, Dr. William Lero sets the stage for you to partner with the Holy Spirit on an inner healing journey to the depths of your heart and soul. The only way to go deep, to get totally real with God and with yourself, is to be brave. With gentleness, Lero leads the way by guiding you into the “caves” in your heart where you’ve been hiding ... caves of shame, fear, offense at God, doubt, and unforgiveness, among others. Living in these caves has kept you from trusting God fully, loving him freely, and just weighed you down in life. Deep Calling to Deep reminds you that Father-God is for you—that the deep lovingkindness of God longs to connect with the deep needs of your soul to dissolve the distance between you and him so you can trust him again, or perhaps, for the first time. So you can love him without hesitation. So your relationship with God can be what you’ve wanted it to be and what he’s wanted it to be all along. You’ve been putting it off for much too long, but the time has come to go deep and to step out of the caves in triumph.

Download or read book In Depth written by WILLIAMSJI MAVELI and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2019-05-10 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Williamsji Maveli’s poetic analysis is a deep expression of the noblest human emotions: of love and sympathy, of awareness of the infinite value of life, of the realizations of the eternal truth through the strokes of individual talents of creativity. Poetry focuses on the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm. Imagination is the ability of the mind to be creative or resourceful and be active without worries; every word has its own meaning, detached from the actual word it’s described by. Poetry achieves a different level of understanding by allowing us to really experience life through the emotions and experiences of others; it is a blend of imagination and truth. Poetry is the art of apprehending and interpreting ideas by the faculty of imagination; the art of idealizing in thought and in expression. Poetry is all those put together in a single volume of human brilliance! And a poet’s life and analytical studies belongs to the future as well as the present. A true poet lives not only in his contemporary time but also in the time of the future with his cultural heritage projecting the eternal essence of human sympathy and consciousness.
