Book Stratigraphic Reservoir Characterization for Petroleum Geologists Geophysicists and Engineers

Download or read book Stratigraphic Reservoir Characterization for Petroleum Geologists Geophysicists and Engineers written by Roger M. Slatt and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 688 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reservoir characterization as a discipline grew out of the recognition that more oil and gas could be extracted from reservoirs if the geology of the reservoir was understood. Prior to that awakening, reservoir development and production were the realm of the petroleum engineer. In fact, geologists of that time would have felt slighted if asked by corporate management to move from an exciting exploration assignment to a more mundane assignment working with an engineer to improve a reservoir's performance. Slowly, reservoir characterization came into its own as a quantitative, multidisciplinary endeavor requiring a vast array of skills and knowledge sets. Perhaps the biggest attractor to becoming a reservoir geologist was the advent of fast computing, followed by visualization programs and theaters, all of which allow young geoscientists to practice their computing skills in a highly technical work environment. Also, the discipline grew in parallel with the evolution of data integration and the advent of asset teams in the petroleum industry. Finally, reservoir characterization flourished with the quantum improvements that have occurred in geophysical acquisition and processing techniques and that allow geophysicists to image internal reservoir complexities. - Practical resource describing different types of sandstone and shale reservoirs - Case histories of reservoir studies for easy comparison - Applications of standard, new, and emerging technologies

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past two decades there has been increased interest in the availability of hydrocarbon charge through a better understanding of petroleum geochemistry and the identification and characterization of petroleum source rocks. These rocks are geochemically unique and form under specific sets of circumstances. This book brings together both geologic and geochemical data from fifteen petroleum source rocks, ranging in age from Devonian to Eocene, that would otherwise be widely dispersed in the literature or available only in proprietary corporate databases. Much of this information, presented in either a tabular or graphic fashion, provides the petroleum explorationist and the geochemist with a framework to establish relationships among various geochemical indices and depositional settings.

Book Hypogene Karst Regions and Caves of the World

Download or read book Hypogene Karst Regions and Caves of the World written by Alexander Klimchouk and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-08-17 with total page 903 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book illustrates the diversity of hypogene speleogenetic processes and void-conduit patterns depending on variations of the geological environments by presenting regional and cave-specific case studies. The cases include both well-known and newly recognized hypogene karst regions and caves of the world. They all focus on geological, hydrogeological, geodynamical and evolutionary contexts of hypogene speleogenesis. The last decade has witnessed the boost in recognition of the possibility, global occurrence, and practical importance of hypogene karstification (speleogenesis), i.e. the development of solutional porosity and permeability by upwelling flow, independent of recharge from the overlying or immediately adjacent surface. Hypogene karst has been identified and documented in many regions where it was previously overlooked or misinterpreted. The book enriches the basis for generalization and categorization of hypogene karst and thus improves our ability to adequately model hypogene karstification and predict related porosity and permeability. It is a book which benefits every researcher, student, and practitioner dealing with karst.

Book Field Studies of Radon in Rocks Soils and Water

Download or read book Field Studies of Radon in Rocks Soils and Water written by Gundersen/Wanty and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992-11-30 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Field Studies of Radon in Rocks, Soils, and Water focuses on the principal sources of indoor radon and detecting radon through geochemical and hydrological studies of ground water. The book addresses how to measure radon, covers geological field study techniques, and presents techniques for assessing radon potential. The geochemical and hydrological studies of ground water cover such areas as health effects and radionuclides in geology. Techniques for measuring radon in ground water are also provided. Field Studies of Radon in Rocks, Soils, and Water is an excellent practical guide for geologists, geochemists, ground water professionals, and geophysicists interested in radon. Features

Book Depositional History and Stratigraphic Evolution of the Upper Wilcox Group and Reklaw Formation Northern Bee County Tx RI284

Download or read book Depositional History and Stratigraphic Evolution of the Upper Wilcox Group and Reklaw Formation Northern Bee County Tx RI284 written by William A. Ambrose and published by . This book was released on 2018-06 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Report of Investigations No. 284, "Depositional history and stratigraphic evolution of the Upper Wilcox Group and Reklaw Formation, northern Bee County, Texas" is a detailed study of the upper Wilcox and Reklaw stratigraphic succession in a 190-mi2 (~490-km2) area along the upper Wilcox shelf margin in northern Bee County, Texas. By interpreting and mapping 19 high-frequency, fourth-order regressive-transgressive sequences, it demonstrates that the upper Wilcox to Reklaw succession contains greater variability in depositional systems, facies, and reservoir sandstone-body geometry than previously documented.
