Book The Exegesis of Philip K Dick

Download or read book The Exegesis of Philip K Dick written by Philip K. Dick and published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. This book was released on 2011-11-07 with total page 1003 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A great and calamitous sequence of arguments with the universe: poignant, terrifying, ludicrous, and brilliant. The Exegesis is the sort of book associated with legends and madmen, but Dick wasn't a legend and he wasn't mad. He lived among us, and was a genius."-Jonathan Lethem Based on thousands of pages of typed and handwritten notes, journal entries, letters, and story sketches, The Exegesis of Philip K. Dick is the magnificent and imaginative final work of an author who dedicated his life to questioning the nature of reality and perception, the malleability of space and time, and the relationship between the human and the divine. Edited and introduced by Pamela Jackson and Jonathan Lethem, this will be the definitive presentation of Dick's brilliant, and epic, final work. In The Exegesis, Dick documents his eight-year attempt to fathom what he called "2-3-74," a postmodern visionary experience of the entire universe "transformed into information." In entries that sometimes ran to hundreds of pages, Dick tried to write his way into the heart of a cosmic mystery that tested his powers of imagination and invention to the limit, adding to, revising, and discarding theory after theory, mixing in dreams and visionary experiences as they occurred, and pulling it all together in three late novels known as the VALIS trilogy. In this abridgment, Jackson and Lethem serve as guides, taking the reader through the Exegesis and establishing connections with moments in Dick's life and work.

  • Pages : 523 pages

Download or read book No Grammar Tears 3 written by Marthus-Adden Zimboiant and published by Author House. This book was released on 2013 with total page 523 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First of all other, I find No Grammar Tears very informative. What amazes me is the kind of dedication and patience Marthus-Adden spent in writing this book. This is because this kind of genre actually needs full attention. Truly, whatever he has written is precise and correct. I really admire his generosity of sharing his knowledge about English owing to the fact that English is his second language. What is good about the book is that the writer wrote it in a manner that readers can easily understand it. In other words, what makes this book different from the other English grammar books in the market is that it is more user-friendly, which means he wrote it in a manner that can easily be understood, especially by those who just learned English and want to learn more. Correctly put, this book is a guide to those who wants to learn English on their own. As a matter of fact, he has a knowledge check in every subject he has discussed in this book. He catered everything, especially in the part on how to construct sentences, which are very precise and which make it very easy to learn the book. He did not change anything at all in terms of the right way to speak and learn English, but instead he made it easier and more convenient for those people whose English is not their first language. In point of fact, he wrote this book not because he wants to show off to the world that he is a good grammarian, but because he wants to help those struggling to learn English. The book therefore deserves recognition because he is actually giving a favour to those who can't afford to have a private tutor to teach them how to speak English correctly. I must, in conclusion, admit that this book will really help those people who want to learn English language; those people who are striving to speak perfect English; and those people that English is their second language. I will therefore commend the author for this book.

Book excerpt: He's a man with a mask, and he's off-limits... They call him Guy. They say he’s “loyal,” “trustworthy,” “solid.” Without him, Red Cage would collapse like a house of cards. He’s the man my brothers trust with their lives, and by extension, my life. The praises of his multifaceted capabilities ring louder than God’s. Somehow, it seems like I’m the only one who sees through his façade. Like I’m the only one who smells his provocative fragrance of deception, guile, and knavery. To everyone else, he’s the ever-helpful, ever-willing good guy. To me, he’s a giant prick. Is it really just me who notices the darkness that emanates from him like tendrils of black smoke? Is it only me who sees the man behind the mask? Determined to expose his duplicity, I follow him down a dark alley one night… I thought uncovering the truth would validate me. I was not prepared for it to seduce me… *This book is a standalone. It is not necessary to read the other books in the series to read this one. This story does not hinge on the plots of previous books. It's totally fine to start here.*

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Liberty Epic of Shadows interweaves shades of the past, present, and future into a dynamic tapestry designed on global scale that spans centuries through a trail of human history beginning with the discovery of a New World. What is the connection between the rebirth of the Holy Roman Empire during the dynastic reign of the Spanish Hapsburgs and a small cotton mill town in twentieth century post industrial south? What is the lost meaning of Xeantee Aconee left behind by an obscure North American tribe of Indians and a present day monster named Westbaily? Are both fiendish embodiments of imminent judgment or messenger angels of deliverance? To the locals of 1960 Viet Nam era America, Liberty Swamp is a place laced with unknown dangers, manifesting imagined terror of life's inevitability, a place avoided through slumbered existence. But this epic is not just about fallen dynasties, repetitious wars, or chimeras of shadow. It weaves the mortal fabric of human experience into a lattice of concentric patterns that never really change. It unveils the defined origin of evil in human desire by comparing gifts from Mammon forged of weaker elements to the essence of things made from eternal substance provided by the architect of creation in the fullness of every season. At the twilight of his days, a man named David, reluctantly made a king of Israel, stands humble before the twelve tribes. This after the siege of Jesus, declared Jerusalem, a city dedicated to the God of Covenant, he bows his head and blesses the Lord of heaven and earth: "Both riches and honor come of thee, and thou reigns over all; and in your hand is power and might; and in your hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? For all things come from you and of your own have we given thee. For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding." 1 chronicles chapter 29 Verses 12-15
