Through a sprawling canvas populated by unlikeliest of people Asmi challenges herself to knots that couldn’t be unknotted. For more than a decade she has cursed her fate for leaving her mother-less and with a woebegone family. As unjust life ensnare her, she dreams of leaving the despairing gullies of Lajpat Nagar. Little did she know, her fairy god mother was set to cast a spell to turn her life around. The mediocre are seldom sanctioned the life of affluence. Torn between her coarse edges and Mahi’s soft silks, Asmi emerges from the literary world and inhale the air of the rich. Her delight is short lived as humiliation taunts her presence and forces her to congest into a cocoon. Nevertheless, questioning her right to dignity Asmi stands firm challenging the conceited of Delhi. Although soon she realises, the houses that aren’t made of glass include more than skeletons in their closets. Thrown in unexpected relations, Asmi captivates Amin with her unpretentious approach towards life. Admiring Amin’s and Mahi’s comfortable lifestyle she seeks refuge with them and shuns her father. She also finds solace in Rajee, her childhood companion. One wonders, are dysfunctional families a norm in Delhi? Was this a prominent rationale for our protagonists to fuel their bond amidst mismatched society? Delhi spares none with mercy including Asmi who is ambushed and stifled. Amid the atrocities by the living and the dead, she is forced to question her existence. Rightly stated, “Happiness is temporary”, she is left distraught in no time. Book Understanding Religion Some Approaches and Attitudes

Download or read book Understanding Religion Some Approaches and Attitudes written by Bosudha Bandyopadhyay and published by Blue Rose Publishers. This book was released on 2023-03-29 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term religion lends itself to various meanings and interpretations depending upon the nature, education and the level of consciousness and conscience of a particular human being who actually harbors the idea or practices of his faith. It is evident therefore, that the concept of religion in human life and society appears to be most controversial and a complex thing which has variable meanings and significance to various human minds. It is indeed pitiful to observe that in the mountain maelstrom of materialism, man develops the tendency to ignore or undermine the edifying and enriching experience of religions and prefers to stay away from the path of the nourishment of his soul without which, both human existence and progress are seriously endangered. The practice of spiritual uplift is therefore, an indispensable condition of human progress and civilization, for a life conditioned by, and dependent on, mere material development is deemed to be fraught with utter futility. The essays chosen in this volume by and large have been written by scholars with a view, to unfolding either the virtues or shortcomings of many of the principles and practices of different religions. Some of the essays have sought to examine the causes and reasons behind the unhealthy views and superstitions and also to reveal a good and elevating virtues the cultivation of which may enlighten us for the realization of the noble ideas and ideals of life. The writers have made an honest attempt to look at the grim reality of some religious superstitions in order to find out the hidden light that rise beyond the boundary of blind beliefs and faiths. Such a quest is always worthwhile for a sincere seeker in quest of truth and light. The authors of the essays have taken pains to diagnose the deep-seated malady of blind belief, fanaticism and dogmatisms.

He had a million messengers at His beck and call. He could have sent the best poet in the world, who could have composed an epic on Him. Or could have sent the world's finest dancer. Or the best scholar. Or the greatest warrior. Instead the Emperor chose a lousy courier boy, who was lazing around, for the job. The boy could not speak well or run fast. Yet in a state of ecstasy he ran all the way to the girl's house. And delivered the letter. The Emperor is the Lord. And you are the girl. He has fallen in love with you. Book A to Z Geology of India Stratigraphy and Fossils A Bedside Book

Download or read book A to Z Geology of India Stratigraphy and Fossils A Bedside Book written by O.P. Mathur and published by Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 2018-01-01 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is in the form of a ready reference. The subject matter of stratigraphy is full of names of formations, groups, etc. At times when we need to know about a certain formation for which we do not know the exact stratigraphic position, then we have to search the entire book, page by page, which becomes quite irritating and time consuming. To overcome this problem, the idea of arranging the different formations in an alphabetic order occurred to the author. During this process it was seen that many small formations, which are otherwise important, do not get their due representation, because they lie in company or association with much larger formations. Otherwise also stratigraphy is nothing but an orderly and chronological arrangement of different formations. In other words, we can say that stratigraphy is a language by itself, where different formations are its words. Same is the case with large number of fossils occurring in different formations. In the usual literature on the subject, it is practically impossible to find in what formation or formations a particular fossil occurs and to which fossil group it belongs. Alphabetical arrangement of fossils as shown in the list of fossils will help students and scholars to persue their task in an easier and quicker way. To arrange such a large number of fossils in an alphabetical order and to find their fossil groups was really a tough job. Still the author does not claim that all the formations and fossils occurring in the Indian stratigraphy are included in this book, and it cannot be the last word on the subject. This is more true in case of fossils, where unlimited literature is available.
